Would easily argue this is the greatest “look” in wrestling history.

They came across as complete monsters during the Hulkamania period. Larger than life almost like real-life cartoon characters. Truly unique. Often copied never equalled.

Is it a coincidence that Kenny Omega does a One Winged Angel, named after a video game, and Mansoor does a similar move called "Sands of Time", which is also a video game reference. Though I know it's a saying as well.

This coming November will be the 15th anniversary of Eddie Guerrero’s death. Jesus I only worked out it was 15 years because I was watching today on the network the September 23rd 2005 episode of smack down and in the episode list it shows Eddie in November. It’s unfortunate that some of the most vivid memories of my wrestling fandom involve awful moments. I can remember where I was when I heard Owen harts death, Eddie guerreros death, and the other guys evil acts. I remember going on to wwe.com that Sunday night just to see what was happening in wwe(having not heard anything at all) and there was that banner which has that picture of Eddie and it was a shock.

Yeah I found out about Eddie's Death the same way can't remember was it a Sunday night or a Monday morning. That banner 'A tragic loss' with Eddies picture was very shocking and so out of the blue. Can't believe its coming up to 15 years

It was Sunday night that the banner was there. I heard about that **** from Canada(sorry mods) the Monday it happened and then turned on raw and there was Vince standing in the ring in an empty building in I think Corpus Christi Texas if I’m not mistaken and remembering William regals tribute which was off.

I remember I heard about Eddie's death just before school. Went in and my friend told me about it.

With Chris Benoit, I was on camp with the Reserve Defence Force and my sister rang me and told me about it. I was more shocked about Benoit's death but that goes without saying really.

My mate rang me saying did yiu hear about Eddie Guerrero and I said yeah he is apparently going to win the title off Batista, then he ultimately told me the news.

Only like two weeks later WWE held a raw event in Ireland with Eddie chants ringing around the o2.

Is any wonder Jeff Hardy gets caught under the influence a couple a times a year when wrestling promotors continue to let him do high risk dives and stupid ladder moves for them.

Yes it look great for the fans however it's not going to end well for Jeff in the long run.

The Jerry Lawler 50th Anniversary show took place over the weekend, headlined by a Thunderdome Cage match pitting Lawler and the Rock 'N' Roll Express against the team of Doug Gilbert, Tommy Rich and Matt Riviera.

Don't know what surprised me more, the fact that Gilbert and Rich are still wrestling, or the fact that the six participants involved have a combined age of 348 :P

Love the Rock ( as does everyone) and we all know he’s an all time legend. While he seems like a pretty sound guy and I admire him for using his platform and status to endorse Biden/ Harris, I find a lot of his social media posts a bit grating. He seems like a genuine guy but his endless plugging Of his tequila and under armour stuff to a lesser extent is a bit in your face.

On a related note, it’s interesting how so many wrestlers won’t go beer anything political- with the exception of Rock, Zayn, Batista and maybe some others I’m not thinking of- WwE obviously have connections to the Trump administration, I wonder are they encouraged not to express political opinions via social media..

Well if you look under the rocks post on Biden you’ll see that most of the comments are from trumpers saying there no longer fans or how disappointed they are in him I’d say just to avoid that

You would think he would be professional. Fair enough he doesn't like wrestling or thinks it's a load of garbage. Perfectly fine. But he is a presenter and being tasked with promoting a product that BT has paid good money for.

To a normal human having to do WWE speak when it's an entirely alien concept, it's no wonder he finds it ludicrous. Delivering their verbiage with a straight face is a credit to Lineker if anything.

Sounds good. Orton has been killing it as a heel this year, and I wouldn't mind seeing Edge main event Wrestlemania. I don't think he's done that yet.

I see Edge admitted that his recovery isn't going as well has he expected which to be honest at 47 that's to be expected especially as he hasn't been an active athlete for nearly a decade his body is going to react different at that age than it did when he was 27/237.

So tonight is the 15th anniversary of the return of Monday night raw to USA network and one of, if not the first ever three hour raw episodes which nowadays are standard. I’ve decided I’m going to watch this tonight to take my mind off the real world.

Edit: this raw has the great 30 minute iron man match between kurt angle and hbk.

I watched that episode of raw for about an hour and a half and I’m convinced that kurt angle and Shawn Michaels are unable to have a bad wrestling match.

Haven't a clue but fair play to him if he did, not many would bank on Impact being their stepping stone to big things.....and I say that as someone who enjoys Impact immensely.

20 years ago tonight we found out who ran down stone cold and also why that person did it. It was rikishi and he did it for “da rock” in one of the most anti climactic pay offs of a huge storyline. I know they added trips into it as being the master mind but it was a case of them needing a way to write Austin off tv but never really planned beyond that point.

Wrestling training and who've you've been trained by is a weird one within the realm of the business.

Looking at it on the surface you would naturally think good wrestlers would produce good wrestlers and bad wrestlers would produce bad wrestlers. Sometimes that's true and sometimes it's not true. It's quite the "contradiction" for the lack of a better word. On the surface

On one hand you have a guy like Mr Hughes who never set the wrestling world alight with his career. Yet if you look at his CV he wrestled (starting notably from 1990) in wcw to WWF (1993) ECW (1993-1996)
Then back to WWF for 2 short stints in 1997 and 1999.

That says right there he was a decent hand. He knew and could pull off the fundamentals with good effect.

That's the weird thing about wrestling training too on the surface. A newbie or inexperienced person could look at Mr Hughes and think "what a loser no way am I training at his school" - yet he could teach you far more than Joe random at Joe Randoms school of wrestling.

Also, at the same time as a contradiction, even the most terrible of trainers can "produce" a tremendous wrestler (which in reality is nothing more than that person that being above the rest)
Yet you'll often find Joe random never did anything.

Just to add to that, Jeff and Matt Hardy didn't recieve any training prior to starting in the business. They mostly taught themselves by setting up their own wrestling promotion and copying moves they saw on tv. They were later trained by Dory Funk Jr but that was after WWE signed them. Of course that being said, Jeff wasn't exactly known for his wrestling ability but they still built a career out of the stuff they did in the ring.

Also, Lance Storm and Chris Jericho were both trained at the Hart Brothers Wrestling Camp but the Harts never even trained them. They were trained by Ed Langley who was a referee and a local wrestler named Brad Young.

15 years ago today mickie James debuted on Monday night raw as the over enthusiastic fan of Trish stratus and we then got imo one of the best angles ever on wwe TV involving Trish and mickie and then the great match at mania with that great crowd in Chicago. I’m sure mickie regrets making that hand gesture though but still.

A year or two ago I rewatched that feud and even then the sh1t Mickie was doing was risky. Pure dirt.

She's a pillar of the division and that's no understatement. I'd say one day she'll have some fascinating stories to share.

Seems Scott Hall is off the wagon again.
He was in some virtual meet and greet recently and one person in attendance said he was "intoxicated and being difficult". further details said how Hall "kept having issues with every inscription or request, and had issues with how rushed it felt" which led to the event getting the plug pulled early.

Hall is something else isn't he? He managed to squash his addictions with the help of DDP accordingly now back to his old ways.

Fcuk sake. Does he know what hes going at all.

He is an iconic voice no doubt, but hes past his prime and dragging AEW down with him. He was a choir to listen to at the last PPV.
