I think if we all just thanked the first post with no speculation just to keep the thread open to show our solidarity with the family at this terrible time

Ah here there's still an investigation going on

Poor kid, a horrible end to a young life. I hope whoever is responsible is caught quickly. I can't imagine what her parents must be going through.

Absolutely shockingly tragic story, I cant believe this happened in Dublin

RIP Anna, she deserved a much longer and happier life.

    Tragic event for the family.
If reports are anything to go by it was an horrific end.

My wife favours bringing in the electric chair for those involved.

Or it may just be the nudge someone needs to tell what they know after hearing what actually happened.

The pain is over for the poor girl, and only starting for her family, classmates, friends and all who knew her.

I just hope the people who did this are over 18 so they can be tried properly.

She was a young girl who apparently suffered a horrendous death , no matter where she came from .

Seemingly adopted and lived all her life here

You're a knob but to answer your question she was Russian by birth adopted by a couple who were Irish and French.
Lives in a community I grew up in. Don't remember another murder in the community, people are shocked.
It's as bad as it gets. I know plenty of details as do many in the area now but let the powers that be do the right thing.

Too petrified to go seeking the details of what happened to her. Very sad. There are some sick fcukers out there.

It could be to show friends of hers how badly she was treated. This will hopefully make sure they aren’t trying to cover for each other or anyone or get themselves into trouble by lying to Garda to cover the horrible actions of some piece of ****.

It’s easy to sit at home and question every bodies actions and I’d hate to think the newsmen are running around excited about this. The fact rte are behaving this way I’d imagine is because the guards told them this way would be helpful to enqueries.

Death by electric chair was mentioned earlier and my first thought was that’s be too good for them. I really think some crimes should have a death by bench saw punishment but that’s a discussion for another time. I hope the family can pull through this. I don’t know if I could.

The media can be really distasteful when it comes to gory details. I remember after the Buncrana drowning, both RTÉ and TV3 pressing shellshocked bystanders to give them more and more details.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,108 ✭✭✭Jellybaby1

I can't believe this has happened to a 14 year old girl. We passed by there when the guards were there and we knew something had happened. So shocking and heartbreaking. When you think about it, 14 years old is just two years out of primary school. A child! Her poor family, I weep for what they are going through.

    According to the Independent:

Investigators are hoping to speak to two boys, aged in their early teens, in the coming days.

Was paying for coffee in a filling station there this afternoon and a few of the papers headlines caught my eye, obviously to do with this threads subject.

A few went into a little bit too much detail if you ask me, namely the Star and the Mail.

I never picked either of them up, but the headline on the front pages lay there for all to see.

Thought it was a bit insensitive, too much specifics, and lacked a bit of respect to the deceased and the family.

From what I've seen, she was a beautiful young lady.

    R.I.P

Delightfully ironic mangling of logic and english there RH. :pac:

I don't think it is overstating it to say that this is one of the most serious crimes in the history of the state. For a child to be killed with such savagery and violence.

I'm glad that they've identified suspects. Very dangerous people and they need to be taken out of circulation permanently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,306 ✭✭✭sonic85

Whoever is responsible needs to be taken to a remote area and given two in the chest and one in the head. Pure and utter scum

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,156 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Terrible thing to happen to that poor girl. God knows what possessed those individuals into thinking killing her in this fashion would be a good idea.

Child murder is extremely rare in the Republic thankfully, I remember reading before that we have one of the lowest rates in Europe.

RIP the poor girl my daughters around the same age and this is truly every parents worst nightmare. Apparantly kids around her own age did this No doubt they will be caught tried as juveniles and out what within 10 years? It reminds me a bit to the Jamie Bulger case.
I would have no problem ending the murdering scums life they don’t deserve to live after what they did to this poor girl. Sorry for strong comments but this crime has really affected me, the sheer cruelty.

The current reports are indicating this poor young girl was subject to an awful death. I don't want to engage in speculation about the events. I hope justice is done and her family and friends find some peace.

Don't keep your illusionary hopes of seeing justice being done up too high. The poor girl is dead, her family and close friend's lives destroyed and the guilty parties will plead to a manslaughter charge followed by a couple of years of PlayStation in Oberstown, Wheatfield or Mountjoy.

Seen it on the nine o clock news, how sad, a beautiful looking girl, very badly beaten to death, and sexually assaulted, God Help her family, so sorry for them, her last moments on this earth must have been hell, hope they catch those responsible, and hope they rot in prison

As I said in a post not too long ago on another thread, I don't know why ppl wish to get emotionally involved in these kinds of cases. A poster replied to me "EMPATHY". I just don't get it. Yes it's a horribly sad and brutal case. No doubt about that and anyone who would just shrug their solders abut this would rightly be considered a bit cold to say the least. The only thing we as onlookers, who have nothing to do with case whatsoever whether we have our own daughters or not, is that we make sure that the law is given all the resources possible to hunt down and prosecute these animals. That should be the extent of our involvement and having forum discussions about it where there is no particular issue or argument to be had all seems to be a waste of emotional energy to me.

Absolutely terrible what happened to this poor girl. She suffered a horrendous death. Its sound to me like this could have been a case of jealousy because she was quite tall and more mature than her age suggested as well as very pretty looking.
I hope the person or persons who killed her are caught and thrown into a cold dark cell to rot.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you but the most disgusting and dangerous scumbag I know has great parents. Brothers and sisters all lovely people but there's 1 delinquent out of 4. Disowned completely now he's an adult but those poor parents tried everything with him. As did his 2 brothers.

who left the asylum door open again?

Beautiful tribute paid to the young girl by her dance school :(

Parents can only do so much. Most parents i would imagine would not believe that their child is capable of something that heinous. (99.999999% would probably be correct).
I hope they catch whoever did it and if it was kids, they should get tried like adults.
I hope they never see daylight again.

I have not seen the details that appeared in the papers or news, but I have seen enough to know that this was scum.

Three hours outside, at the start of the summer, and the parents knew straight away to go the Gardaí.
I cannot begin to imagine how distraught they must be right now. I would imagine it is all a haze and does not seem in any way real.
It is a very cruel and very sad ending, and nothing anybody says or does will help relieve their pain. :(

You keep mentioning people shouldn't be offended. Who made you the "offence police". If the thread upsets you why dont you just depart it instead of telling others too?

All you've done is whinge over "snowflakes" being offended, ironically appearing extremely offended yourself.

Grew up in that area. Hung around Catherines park as a teen through the long summer evenings. The most carefree time of my life. To me the Leixlip/Catherines area felt like the safest place in the world, still does to an extent having travelled the globe since.

This has chilled me to the bone. I cannot believe this happened to poor Ana and the opportunity to live her life, fulfil her dreams and ambitions has been taken away by some utterly wretched scumbag.

Its very sad. RIP Ana, I hope your family get the justice they deserve at least.

Place of birth regardless, the murderer should be met with the full force of the justice system and certainly not be let away with mere deportation. That's just ridiculously lenient, birth place should not excuse anyone from justice. Irish prison for crime in Ireland, no matter where you're from.

Prisons are too keep citizens in country safe from dangerous individuals. Automatic death penalty for the most heinous crimes and deportation also achieve that.
