That's interesting. These badges are in very good shape though. Too bad they don't do free spray painting to fix the flaked paint, rust, etc. :pac:

They did at one time offer 12 year rust / corrosion warranty but you had to have every service stamp to avail of it. I just think they seen the error of their ways since all fords of the early generation rust and it probably would have bankrupt them :pac:.

Found some info on it here:

To bring the chat back on track.....

I replaced Tension arm, control arm, tie rod end, drop link and shock both sides on the front of my father's e90 over the weekend.

Fair play, that's a big job! What kind of time did it take you?

Took 6 or 7 hours I'd say. I don't really keep an eye on the time.

I work in an office job so to me working on cars is therapeutic. I'm driving 20 years and from day one I thought myself to do everything. Apart from doing a timing belt.

Wasn't really happy with the sound or lack of it on the newish car, so i decided to replace the exhaust, oem one was showing a bit of corrosion also previous owner must have reversed into a step or something as left pipe was pushed further into the diffuser then the right.

Actually a nice car to drive, but you can feel how heavy it is when you pull off, feck all torq until after 4k revs, and then pulls nicely, but i think next car will be a 325 in a couple of years id say..

Some craic last night, the S-Type battery was stone dead at 10pm in the pitch black, the rear passenger reading light was left on for a week.

Needed to move the car, not a jump lead in sight and the boot was backed up to a wall.

Improvised with some high gauge amplifer cable and some domestic solid core cable. :D

Ordered a new set of pressed plates from eireplates yesterday for the new car, came this morning in the post. That would be my third set of plates to order from them now and i have to say between delivery times and quality they are probably the best ive ever dealt with.

I don't know what it is but I bloody love starting a dead car with jump leads, it's like bringing Frankenstein to life, rewarding.
