The older stuff isn't too bad, my focus is fine, but the newer fords badges are chronic for flaking and chipping off. Ford were (maybe still are) replacing worn badges on the newer stuff free of charge.

That's interesting. These badges are in very good shape though. Too bad they don't do free spray painting to fix the flaked paint, rust, etc. :pac:

Replaced my leaky diesel filler pipe today. Not a difficult job once the inner wheelarch is removed.. this is why I love working on the landcruiser, easy access to stuff placed in logical places.

Bought online from a 4x4 specialist in the UK - genuine part for half the price of Toyota here. No more impression of a dog taking a piss at the pumps.
I did the same job on my fathers 99 Picnic a couple of months ago. His one pretty much crumbled away in my hand when I was taking it off. I think his cost around €130 from Toyota.

Odd that that rotted, yet there's no rust anywhere on the rest of the car.

They did at one time offer 12 year rust / corrosion warranty but you had to have every service stamp to avail of it. I just think they seen the error of their ways since all fords of the early generation rust and it probably would have bankrupt them :pac:.

Found some info on it here:

To bring the chat back on track.....

I replaced Tension arm, control arm, tie rod end, drop link and shock both sides on the front of my father's e90 over the weekend.

Fair play, that's a big job! What kind of time did it take you?

Took 6 or 7 hours I'd say. I don't really keep an eye on the time.

I work in an office job so to me working on cars is therapeutic. I'm driving 20 years and from day one I thought myself to do everything. Apart from doing a timing belt.

Wasn't really happy with the sound or lack of it on the newish car, so i decided to replace the exhaust, oem one was showing a bit of corrosion also previous owner must have reversed into a step or something as left pipe was pushed further into the diffuser then the right.

Actually a nice car to drive, but you can feel how heavy it is when you pull off, feck all torq until after 4k revs, and then pulls nicely, but i think next car will be a 325 in a couple of years id say..
