Semi -Professional baby maker which means I haven't spent much time in my actual job for the last 5 years!

To go pro I have to get pregnant and be due to go on maternity leave before returning from maternity leave! Not that good yet but it's part of my 5 year plan!

Christ does that actually happen? would you not just leave your job if you can afford to have so many babies and stop being a burden on the state?

More like slow down. It would be a shame to finish prematurely after all.

How am I burdening the state exactly?!? By having a family! Tax USC and prsi are being paid while I'm on maternity leave as I receive my full wage? So no I'm not burdening the state anymore than anyone else that chooses to have children!

You have to keep bringing that up don't you?

oh I thought the state pays your wage or a portion of it during maternity? maybe I am wrong.

Not much of an apology there.

Yes, you're wrong. Not everybody draws on the state for maternity leave.

You can only receive maternity benefit if you have actually worked and paid tax. You essentially pay for your own maternity benefit and it's not like winning the lottery, it's not much more than those on jobseekers get.

It's not my fault that I'm having such an affect on you Shannon. I was just explaining the ins and outs of my role to the other poster.

I like to think of it as efficiency. Some of us are busy people!

Oh the state does! for everyone who has children and its capped and for a specified period so like I said no more than anyone else having children!

It was also a joke! I have 2 children with 1 on the way! Hardly excessive!

Not quite. My ex employer and my wife's employers always paid full wage during maternity, with no contribution from the state.
