I don't see us getting any all stars TBH. Who shone on an individual level this year that didn't have someone from Mayo/Kerry/Dublin slightly ahead of them?

Maybe some in the back line? Harte possibly?

I thought McCarron and McNamee were strong at the back, Harte was good at transitioning defence to attack, and McCurry was as good as any forward that's still in the race. Donnelly had some big performances as well.

Great start results wise to 2016 from Tyrone. Winning the McKenna cup yet again and a couple of tough away wins in bad conditions against Cavan and Galway set up up nicely in the league. Should get top 2 handy enough at this stage and back to division 1 next year.

Hopefully the year in Div2 could stand to us. I'm hoping one the weather picks up Mickey will try to have us playing a slightly more expansive style of football that we can bring into the championship. Being tight defensively is all well and good but in the games in the last 8 and beyond you need to be able to score more to beat your Mayo, Dublin and Kerry's.

I've not caught a live game just yet this year. Hope to make it to one of two league games though and all the championship if possible. Anyone been at either of the league games yet?

Haven't seen them in the flesh yet this year. Results have been faultless, 100% win ratio going back to the O'Fiach cup before Christmas. Interesting to see how long it lasts. The u21s seem to be making the step up with success, although admittedly we haven't played any of the big guns yet, and won't really know how good we are until July/August. It'll be a long season for them though, given the way Mickey tries to win every competition. Hopefully they'll still be in good condition come the business end of the season.

    I've seen:

    McKenna Cup final v Derry
    2nd Half v Cavan
    Highlights of the Galway game

Whilst not playing to absolute full potential yet I would still be optimistic about how we've started and the foundations are good if we can build on an attacking plan.

I'm excited by some of the younger guns like:
    Sludden
    McGeary
    2 x Brennans
    T McCann
    Meyler

Showing good promise to build on what we have.

Good stuff Sonner. Yeah I thought last year was the first time we truly seen some of the great underage teams make the step up together. Hopefully we can get them to a good enough level before some of the older lads like the Cavanaghs throw in the towel.

We've probably got a two or three year window to win an all Ireland.

I vowed in 2009 that I would never attend another Derry v Tyrone encounter and I have stayed true to that, I saw and heard too much nonsense in the stands during the 2000's and now the nonsense has spilled onto the pitch again. It is a pity that they will have played 4 times this year.

Bit of a row at Tyrone Vs Derry in Div 2 and it's front page news, brawling on the grass in Mayo Vs Dublin and there's not a mention of it.

Don't perpetuate the myth that these things only happen when certain teams are playing. They're all equally as guilty of it. Tyrone Vs Derry is a good fixture and I always enjoy them.

    Possibly more than 4 times.

They could very likely meet in the Div 2 Final
Could you rule out a draw in first round of USFC?
Could you rule out Derry coming through the backdoor to meet Tyrone later in AIFC?

Imagine they met 7 times in one season!

Including the O'Fiach cup before Christmas, they've already played each other three times, with potentially two league encounters plus the championship to come. They'll be sick of the sight of each other by the end up.

There's definitely a double standard when it comes to a bit of niggle in a match. If it's Meath/Dublin or Cork/Kerry it's romanticised. If Tyrone do it it's the death of football.

When Tyrone were winning All-Irelands it was the death of football. Same when Donegal had the temerity to win "one" in 2012.

Insert blanket defence, swarming, hand-passing ad nauseum into any article or match report containing a team from Ulster.

As if those Gods from Kerry ne'er hand pass the ball.

Winning is a good habit. Hopefully the year in Division 2 will stand to us in the long run.

Another handy win against an admittedly understrength Derry side. They'll be a different beast come championship.

A relatively clean game as well, given the rivalry between the two teams. If there had been even half the antics of the sort Kerry engaged in against Donegal it would be more "Typical Tyrone" stuff.

Meath next up in Navan. They're not playing great at the minute but I'd be expecting a bit of a reaction from them after letting big leads slip in their last two games.

Another two points in the bag, onwards and upwards! The only caveat is that none of the teams we're playing will be in the mix come the business end of the season. Still, good to see the team playing well and keeping the winning mentality going. A competitive game in HQ next month will do no harm either.

Seanie should have goaled towards the end of the first half, but just put too much on the ball. The goal we did get was a little fortuitous; the full back misread the flight of the ball and it fell into O'Neill's hands. Goal scoring was our Achilles heel last season; I'd like to see them rattle in a few in the remaining games now that we're already promoted.

Yeah we're cert now to go up and get to the final which is great, a day out in Croker and hopefully we'll be able to go into Ulster unbeaten in 2016. We've Armagh at home and Fermanagh away in the last two games so winning those two would be good for our Ulster prospects too.

I'd love to see Cavan getting to the final with us as the missus is from there. Both Cavan and Galway should win their next games and the last round has them playing each other in Cavan so that will be a winner takes all affair.

I'd also love it if Kerry got though to the Div 1 final so that we'd have a good ding dong to watch in the second game after making the trek up there.

Just on the point of not having played any of the big teams in this years league, I don't think it'll be as much of a problem for us come the summer as others do. This year we'll have been able to better tailor our training to aim towards the summer rather than bursting ourselves to get through Div1. We're high on confidence and blooding loads of very talented young players.

I was also thinking about this lately and I actually think it’s a good thing that we aren’t in Div 1 this year it should leave us with some sort of surprise element on the bigger teams when we meet in championship.

None of them will have played against Tyrone this year at least and I think that will be a good thing

Aye and to be honest playing the same 5/6 teams so many times in a year is properly boring at times too. It's nice to play a few different teams in the league. We've played a lot of unusual teams in the back door recently too which has been fun.

On setanta this weekend so hopefully we'll put on a bit of a show.

I can see Tyrone running away with this one AND I wouldn't be surprised if Armagh started a bit of nasty stuff!

I hope not. Hopefully it's a decent display of good Ulster football with some hard hitting but also plenty of scores. If we're involved in a TV game (I think Dublin are on at the same time so not many will watch anyway) that has a few scuffles it'll be headline news again and the worst thing to ever happen to football.

U21 side through to the ulster final against monaghan after beating Donegal. I wonder what they'll blame us for this time given they had 2 lads sent off and their manager was involved in the fight at the end. Naturally it'll all be Tyrone's fault somehow.

    Tyrone displaying a persecution complex?

    Surely not!

I will await the stories coming out in the next few days about what Tyrone did/said that caused Donegal to lose all their discipline and how 'it's always Tyrone' involved in these things.

    It's an anti-Tyrone conspiracy/agenda.

    Yes sir.

    Yes sir.

I wouldn't call it some big conspiracy. For it to be a conspiracy there'd have to be some element of trying to hide it. The southern media don't even bother trying to pretend they don't hate Tyrone and haven't bothered doing so for years. The disdain they have for Tyrone and the double standards they apply are disgusting.

Look, I know you're not going to agree and honestly I couldn't give a ****e. Like I said at the very beginning of this thread I have no problem with Tyrone having a reputation, the problem now is that for about 5 years we've had a reputation whilst being one of the softest teams in the top division. If we're going to get accused of all sorts then at least do what they accuse you of and don't get pushed around.
