your price seems competitive tbh, i can see you getting close to it though.

i'd remove the part where you say it's serviced every 6k miles but the car has only done 10k miles in your ownership, sounds like you clocked it.

i'd just say, oil and filter changed every 6 months and leave it at that.

good luck with the sale :)

Went on DD for a look at your ad (couldn't find it ey) but I came across THIS. Is he actually having a laugh?????

20 k for a 10 year old car! That's before it nails you for tax, and the thoughts of trying to insure it. He won't be able to give that car away unless he finds a real suburu fanatic.

For the price I'd at least want a decent picture of the car!

That's the thing, I didn't do much milage on it, but always serviced it aither 6k or 6 months of I didn't do 6k. Dumbasses will think it's clocked though. It is enthusiast car.
his idea on price, but I would be happy with a lot less. Thing is subaru hold their value a lot! It was a bit shocking for me when I actually looked at ads.
I just hope it sells fast, if not, I can drive my awesome 1.1 for a while. :)

You have a picture of the intercooler spray tank AND the button. What more do you want like? ;-)

    @SH

I know this is a van...and a bit tall but this has VRS running gear and a good spec. Also would have an unexpected turn of speed for something like that. Thought it was kind of cool. It's an Altea FR.

SH, maybe a better idea to start a new thread rather than having replies scattered throughout this one?

Empty yard, lots of ice. Give it a lash for the craic, what's the worst that could happen.

FWD so lots of wheelspin and not going anywhere.

Once they are minded they are fine but miss one service or use the wrong grade of oil once came over they will break your heart I know that from first hand experience and for all of the 1.6hdi's I've looked at I've never seen one that wasn't leaking oil somewhere honestly they are such an oily engine. I wouldn't like the buy one in a Volvo that cost a few grand because the chances of it being meticulously cared for are small. Just my opinion though I'm not saying there is not a few reliable examples that have been minded.

Looking for a few opinions here.

Is it worth it financially to have the gearbox changed on a 12 year old car that is only worth about 1400 quid ?

It's looking like the car needs a new box ( second hand ), sub frame bushes and a few other bits and pieces and I'm not quite sure if it is wise to spend more money on it anymore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

    Whats the alternative?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,190 ✭✭✭Mister Jingles

    Whats the alternative?

Per severe and run it into the ground for the next few months and hopefully have enough cash in the credit union to get a loan and get something else.

Or pump few hundred quid more into it and keep it for a while, however I only paid 1300 for it and I've already spent near to that on maintenance (clutch, flywheel, tyres, servicing etc )

I do love my car though so parting with it won't be easy :P

The other problem as well is trying to shift it, but that's another days thinking.

If that's the case I'd keep it. I thought the alternative would have been to get something new. Better with the devil you know, as opposed to buying something else for small money and not knowing its past.

    Depends on the car.

If it was an old E38 740 I'd be all over it. If it was an 05 Almera I'd scrap it.

If I was changing up I'd be looking at a petrol accord, 04-06

    @ Big Nasty, it's a mk3 mondeo.

Can anyone help with this ?

Basically I had them halfords cool bulb w5w bulbs as number plate bulbs and I replaced them with WhiteVision hoping they would be better but they are not now both are whiter than normal bulbs but I want the focus mk3 LED look you know white light but at the same time not these big bright yokes that are like two headlights shinning down on the ground so its the focus factory LED look id be going for a nice in-between which all the LED's you get on eBay are too bright. So anyone have any recommendations they would need to be canbus too.

Heres the ones I fitted today.
    Philips WhiteVision W5W

Edit found these two options expensive but might be the best option

    Osram 4000k LED

    Philips LED

What colour would be the best 4000k or 6000k ?

What is up with people driving more crazy now that roads are lethal, it's called black ice for a reason. If you want to injure yourself or crash go ahead but you ain't bringing me with you.

I was behind a car today the driver just kept randomly braking hard every few 100 metres and ice warning queue everyone driving at 65kmh on 100kmh road which wasn't slippy and had no ice so many people can't read the roads and conditions it's hardly rocket science.

Philips 4000k leds are VERY bright. Noticeably whiter than nightbreakers. Can take a photo maybe. They are in the mini sidelights.

The osram 4000k I found a little bit blue tinged. Not as bright as the Philips. But it could be a difference in the sidelight fixtures. Weird dimpled sidelight thing on the subaru.

    Philips better value iirc.

People are just absolute fcuking morons. Constantly on the road now with this job so I'm noticing it a lot more. Especially in this weather. I've actually started job hunting again because of this. Seriously.

Edit: I'm no perfect 10 and 2 driver either but by jesus a bit of common sense wouldn't go astray with some folk.

Guys... I am scared... I think I might get killed for what I am going to say now.

I am falling in love with my 400 quid 206...

I don't know what it is, but I got used to driving it and I am loving damn thing. I put 20 quid when I bough it Wensday and.... Its still got **** loads petrol after me driving it back home from Cork, driving around in town Thursday and going to work and home today. The needle barely moved.
Insurance payments went from 65 per month to 35eu, I looked at tax and it's 89 for 3, not 200eu. Those numbers in my head do not add up. I never owned a car that wouldn't have petrol needle move after each drive. So low tax and insurance that I barely notice it. I always had gas guzzlers with stupid running costs. Maybe time to try something sensible for a change and go again with something stupid. :)
I kind of don't miss power yet. I enjoy driving this little thing. :)
I might go Tuesday get mats, clean up inside, get it serviced and might drive it for a longer then I though. Even if my Scooby will sell.

I wonder now if I am rushing it with diesel and specially that year. Thing is that I will still do short trips and then every week or every two weeks 200km trips. I am a bit worried that I won't do enough milage for all those filters regenerate. Maybe I am better off with smaller petrol engine. Fiat 500 anyone?! :D

It's a Peugeot, you may need a new fuel gauge.

Anyone on here have an idea of what to look out for on integra dc2s.
Looking at them at the moment so would be good to know.

So you would go with the 4000k as opposed to the the 6000k or would the 6000k be more of a factory LED look as opposed to super white or is it yellow like and just looks like bright halogens.

I only really want them for number plates not sidelights as I think I'll leave them as is as I never have them on on their own either use DRLs or dipped lights and I wouldn't mind them being bright but then there is too bright too you know lighting up half the road under the number plate. Thanks for your help.

Funny enough I did had 406 once and it was pretty damn good on petrol and very reliable too. Not my first pug. :)
