Fair play to them, at least the road is safe now notwithstanding that the local CoCo should have completed the work.
I wonder would our City cousins know how to handle a shovel and rake

    Doubt it

Got drowned this evening getting shuttering finished and filled. Started raining here around 2.30 but after easing since 7.00. Is there such as waterproof clothing anymore? All the raingear on but still soaked through and through.

This rain won't help the situation in east Galway, Clare/Limerick or around Athlone. :-(

think there is a brreathable product on market, consist of several layers , is waterproof , expensive im told
saw a product in supervalu, spray on to dry clothes to help repel water, remember all fluorescent jackets were water proof until washed and then had to be sprayed with some product to make them waterproof, was available in local coop store in Skibb until taken off market for some reason. i know some lorry drivers doing deliveries used fisherman's rain-gear,

Yep - I got a set of ISO Ranger trousers and coat for him early December. They were not cheap at €250 for the set but they are worth every penny. He has worn them every day since during this wet weather when out and about He says that they are the best waterproofs that he has ever had and you don't sweat in them either. Farmdirect in Oldcastle are the agent for them in Ireland - ask for Dessie. They are made in NZ.

Visited Sydney during the week and it rained solid for four days! A place north of the city got 201mm in 24 hours. Few records broke needless to say.
