some roads in Mallow town flooded but flood defences doing their job. lots of surface water at home but thankfully ditches are keeping it away from the house and yard. 1 tree down but was waiting for it after previous storms.

Nice dry day. It was weird driving into enniscorthy today with the roads dry going into town, although there was some water coming out of ditches and then seeing the flooding in the town. Some politicans were as usual getting their pictures taken in boats touring around. Flood defences were promised but were held up by various parties but it looks like it's going ahead this year. The guards were keeping an eye on the crowds looking at the floods. The army arrived just as I was leaving town. Thankfully the water level is now going down so maybe the worst is over.

stormy here until 10 , just calmed after that, power cut in Rosscarbery /Clon direction , none here. could hear sound like storm at sea around 3 ,even though 4 miles inland in high ground 300ft over sea level ,lashed down around 7 for an hour , notihng to complain of, by comparison to rest of country judging by news at 6

This grinds my gears something serious. I don't even blame the politicians. Every time something like this happens a few locals spew the same sh1te "Why isn't he/she down here with the people". As soon as they do arrive the locals clamour in for a photo backing "their" man and that'll give them plenty of ammo for the political football that'll be made of the incident.

Already started around us with the local FF councillor using it as a soapbox. Then he starts banging on about great works getting all the water levels down and bypassing a lot of flooded land in our area - i.e. send the problem down the river and to hell with what those downstream might have to deal with.

Nearly got washed away down here. Only mode of transport is the tractor as the jeep wont get through. Electricity is back and it's calm enough here now

Oh jez i'd love to. But it seems that for the next 10 days anyway these rain systems are going to keep coming in. Not sure about the wettest year but it definitely must have been the wettest and mildest winter. I've never seen as much grass in the fields for this time of year now grazing it will be a challenge, so hopefully it dries up around the middle of the month.

well if it rains for next 10 days and dries for next 6 after that, does that mean slurry can be spread, with ground conditions as they are, some are finding disposing of washing's of milking parlours, to be stretched to limit of ground tolerance, even using rainguns

did a Canadian company develop a machine for harvesting a weed that threatened to stifle the great lakes, an amphibious type of combine header on a silage wagon type of yoke a few years back, it might come in useful if brought over here if forecast is anything to go by . might be worth inquiring about importing a few,next best thing since the silage baler and wrapper :pac::pac::
