Lots of roads flooded in Clare. The county council have set up an emergency telephone line as it seems the whole county has been affected.

The road closures mentioned are only the 'tip of the iceberg'. I am aware of many more other than those in that list. The rain has moved away for most to be replaced by a light drizzle so some respite.

Army drafted in to fill sandbags in Ballybofey Donegal. The town itself hasn't flooded since 1987 when the banks were raised. Under jeopardy tonight

Went for a quick walk there and even though the radar is showing little or nothing at the mo, a thick drizzle is falling in absolute sheets still and whirling around like crazy against the light of the streetlights. Everything is just screaming and growling out there.

Radar based totals from Netweather. Looking at this you'd expect mountains here got similar totals as the UK.

Watching BBC news reporter talking to a UK Met Office woman saying to her that they were caught off guard by the amount of rain and the warnings they put out ,fair play to ME with their Red warning as the UK only went Amber they are now Red but it's a bit late

Just back from a drive around west Galway (Oughterard area). It's very bad out there. Serious flooding and trees/branches down all over the place. I have never seen the likes of it before.

The wind isn't too bad now, it's just the relentless rain.

I think here in West Kerry we escaped most of the torrential rain ... I have seen worse flooding in previous years ... I don't have any exact figures just an observation

In north Kerry we didn't escape flooding,those Atlantic storms seem to be making a beeline for north Kerry last few years

Significant flooding of streets & properties in town centre area & Bank Place.
Glasslinn Road (N71) likely to be impassable.
Riverview at risk of flooding. Cluid Housing Development at risk of flooding.
Quay walls & existing flood defences may be overtopped.
Electricity & telecommunication services may be interrupted.
Footbridge may be impassable.
Transport services may be disrupted.

Flood event similar to October 1975, October 1988 and November 2009.

Not much frost this year either.
We could be in for a 1963 or 1947 scenario in a few weeks or early 2016

The whole of the Bandon valley area is badly affected. Lots of roads closed and people can't leave their homes. Here in Dunmanway, the council has been pumping out the drains to stop flooding . This was in my street

Looking at Met Eireanns rainfall radar, small tiny west clare shaped break in the rain, won't last long.

My stations record (in Galway City) for daily rainfall has been broken
Total since midnight now stands at 63.0mm, previous record was 62.0mm in Nov 2009

Rain will have stopped by around 4-5am. Though I'd imagine a lot of the roads in the west will still be fairly whett at 10am.
