And he wanted that renegotiated in his new contract

You're feeding us nice tidbits here.

So, by renegotiated did he want the policy removed or altered?

    Ask Ferghal Carruth

If Billy is acting/being represented on behalf of the IABA or doing an interview concering-representing the IABA then I don't find the policy at all odd.

Well you and Fergal Carruth are about the only people who don't. The Kieran Mulvey does, the Irish Sporting Council does, Billy Walsh does, the Minister for Sport does. And even then we're guessing with Carruth because he's gone into hiding and won't explain himself.

I don't know Fergal. Anyway, I am not sure how to interpret your post now.

    Renegotiated.........needs elaboration.

My original point stands. The IABA IMO are right to want to sign off on anyone (working within their organisation) doing interviews concering the IABA and amateur boxing. It makes perfect sense. All above board and nothing hidden.

Mulvey is at Oireachtas Transport & Sports Committee hearing today. Named Christle and Carruth saying they have questions to answer! (according to Sean O'Rourke)

    So, 3 against 2.

Haha indeed. Your opinion carries as much weight as that of the chairman of the Irish Sporting Council - I'm sure Fergal Carruth with be delighted with your support when the review for his funding comes up.

Maths mighten be your strong point but it's 4 against 2 and does that mean by iaba rules that you're wrong??

And if your opinion counts so does ours, 10-2...

Life moves too fast to convene and consult a board on day to day matters. Boards should set broad strategic goals for an executive and review their performance on a quarterly or annual basis.

Executives should be entrusted with sufficient powers to carry out their jobs, if those powers are used in a way deemed inappropriate by the board they can take action after the fact, a board or committee cannot be expected to preemptively approve such trivial matters as interview requests.

No, from the post I quoted it's 3 against 2. Comprehension might not be your strong point.

Yes but then who's going to deal with all those "an bhfuil cead agam dul amach go dti on leithreas?" requests from the head coaches? I'm not sure such good sense has any place in this discussion ;)

Are you sure you're not Michael Carruth?

But Billy is not an executive. He needs permission to do interviews. What's the big deal, or harm with this? Surely this is not a damning reason for him quitting?

Maybe to you interviews concerning your organisation or business are trivial. That doesn't mean they are trivial to everyone else.

4 no? Is 3 your final answer???

What has this to do with my math?

Quote a post that you feel links me with Michael Carruth. Then I could answer it a little better.

If we count the ISC as 1 and the IABA as 1 then it's 4-3. I counted Billy, Mulvey and Ring as 3 people for one side, and I counted myself and Fergal as 2 people for the other side. Simple arithmetic.

Well you reject everything said by anyone not singing from the IABA hymn sheet.

There is nothing I've posted that isn't currently in the public domain

Yes they are trivial, interview requests can come in overnight for an 8am radio slot, if the board of the IABA deem them to be a matter worthy of consultation then they need reform of their structures.

If they can't trust their Head of High Performance to run the place then they will struggle to find a replacement, Billy tolerated it, other world class coaches likely won't. The ISC can see this and are justifiably concerned. Even if Billy can't be retained, the next person in needs to be let run the unit.

No doubt it will an in house guy

The truth is there are no outstanding candidates. Zaur is a top class coach, a brilliant hands on man, and I doubt his English is a problem at this stage, but running the HP unit will deflect from what he is best at. Not an ideal scenario. John Conlan? I honestly don't know, seems to have done good work with his club and is a good coach, but a replacement for Walsh? Doubtful but need to know more. Pete Taylor? A non-starter for obvious reasons. Can't think of any other obvious candidates. I have respect for Michael Carruth and his work with disadvantaged kids but he can't be a serious candidate for this job.

Of course it's not as if it matters that much anyway as Irish boxers, unlike their counterparts across the globe, pretty much train themselves ;)

Yes but Mickey Mouse doesn't come cheap and would probably insist on regular first class flight tickets from his home in Florida.

It was quite an isulting comment whether true or not true. And it wasn't a slip of the toungue either.
