If it came down to picking someone to win you a ring, I'd take the guy that's done it already over the guy who plays above average for most of the season.

Yeah rings are not the be all and end all, but what has Rivers done that makes him top 6?

I dunno bout top 6 but for one thing Rivers has never had a defense in SD and it's not like his O line has been magnificient apart from maybe 1 year when Dielman and McNeill were in their prime and LT running wild.

These others, esp Flacco and Eli have had defenses and O lines to compensate.

Perfect. When Mettenberger puts up a season like Rivers did in 2010 with a laundry list of injuries at WR/TE forcing them to sign guys off the street every few weeks, the 26th ranked offensive line in terms of pass blocking, and an average-at-best running game behind him... yeah, please do get back to me.

    Billy86 knows his sh1T.

Same level as Tannehill!?........... you're kidding right?

I agree, Rivers is better as of now. Sure last week I said I'd take him over Big Ben, but I really expect a breakout season of sorts from Tannehill next year.

Liked what I saw from him last season, tbh.

    30 year old RB too.

What's the figures like for his contract, though?

any team that can afford him would at least have a look he's one of the great running backs

yes he is 30 and he is a running back but this is the dude who came back from an acl and was in talk for mvp

Don't get me wrong, I still think he's a god damn special player, and was a walk in hall of famer before the abuse scandal, but perhaps you'd want to make sure you have everything else in your team lined up before you go put that kind of money towards him, a 30 year old RB a year out of the game.

Could you imagine him with the Patriots? Now that would be bloody scary.

dont think the pats have cap room thank god that offence would be insane. there have been murmurs of cowboys and cardinals being interested either would be potentially good destinations for him.

whatever happens and where ever he ends up - he is gonna get 20mill over 2 seasons! Its not like he did an awful lot last year - so 30 is not gonna be an issue! You also have to remember that its Adrian Peterson who was nailed on HOF before the abuse of his child!

He will get paid.... i personally think all this unhappiness is to force the vikes hand in giving him more guaranteed money!

Thinking about it, Cowboys would have a fair bit of restructuring and contract work to sort out before it would become plausible, so hopefully that becomes too much of an issue for them.

Let him go to the Cards :D

I love to have him but it would never happen. Unfortunately, we don't seem to value the RB position the way other teams do. Christ, we couldn't even keep Vereen and all we had to do was to pay him $4 million a year. On top of all that, our O line needs some work, because it hasn't got the consistent talent to create those holes against strong run defenses.

On the Vereen subject, I'm pretty happy to have him at the Giants, and there seems to be a fair bit of excitement with regards to his pass catching abilities. How do you see it working out for us?

Rivers at his peak is the sort of QB who could transform the likes of the Titans to contenders. He was inconsistent last season though and Mettenberger has shown just enough to persuade me he's worth persisting with.

He's a great kid and running wise he'll do his damage outside of the redzone. He also hasn't fumbled a ball since 2013 which is always nice. But his biggest threat is from the passing game and he can't hurt you all the field with that. I think he'll do very well for you guys and he is the kind of player you sorely need. I reckon you'll give him more reps than we did and he will revel in that. He's only 26 and not even peaking yet, so you've a lot to be excited about and I think he'll become a big weapon for you guys. When you've a RB who catches 11 out of 11 passes in the Superbowl, it makes sense to hang onto him. But not us apparently.:(

in fairness the pats are one of the few organisations where you really can't get to critical of any of there moves. i thought they needed another reciever if they really wanted to compete for a Super Bowl and they ended up winning one.

i would say pats, packers and maby the seahawks can do whatever the hell they want

He hit the FA and the Saints picked him up

Keeping Browner probably didn't make sense since he operated very effectively with Revis in a man marking scheme. With Revis gone, Browner would be less effective and all those penalties didn't do him any favours. So we'll probably revert back to a more zone orientated scheme. Which is great news for the rest of ye, because we'll be back to letting teams convert 3rd & 19's at will once again.

Malcolm Butler could have talent also we hope. But yup it sucks.

Arrignton is a liability at CB, but is quite good at playing slot corner so he'll be staying there I think. I was always a fan of Dennard and I think he was the best young CB on the roster back in 2013. He pretty much got sidelined last year which I didn't like because I thought he could have shared a lot more reps with Browner. But he was put on IR back in December (hamstring) so maybe he was struggling with injury for awhile. Up until last year, Dennard more or less had an automatic starting job at CB. So I'm hoping he comes back fit, healthy and hungry to get his place back. Then we have the young Malcolm Butler, most of you probably only heard of him before that fantastic SB play. But a few of us Pats fans have been raving about him since last years camp. He's is the the most promising and most naturally instinctive CB we have on the roster at the moment. So I won't be surprised if he seizes a starting role at CB.
