Think I passed Bpmull this evening in Kilkenny city if you drive a Red golf 07 G, if not you I apologise but it looked well in the sun :D

His is black I'm sure. Still haven't spotted it myself!

Its black alright. I left kilkenny at 8.30 this morning and have been stuck in cork in college studying all day. Only finished now. I should be easier to spot during the summer as I'll actually be in kilkenny all the time.

That pajero is a fair clean example, don't know what he was expecting tbh?

 , it might be a lot of things but rotten it is not, and even if it was, a quick walk around ain't going to tell you.

I'd forgotten how sh1te selling motors is..

You should sell them in the dark, works well for me :P:pac:

It's actually the best way to buy cars too based on my most recent purchases:D

I love when someone shows up to buy a car for a few k euro and genuinely expect it too be in the exact same condition as a brand new car from the showroom. Now I'm not saying that you should buy a wrecked car but I mean picking out literally the slightest flaws and making a huge deal out of them when you are only spending a few thousand you can't have it all.

Well look to be harsh on it it's nowhere near mint. There are a few minor bits of rust but they're purely cosmetic and nowhere near where he looked...

If it was up for 3 grand I'd expect to be pulled up on it's little quirks, but its a tested 23 year old machine that's in far better than average condition for about a third of that.

I paid my asking for the paj - and it was rough as fcuk when I bought it - (I may have told people here that I paid less :pac:)

He probably would have complained about it being to shiny - He told me he wanted it as a field wagon for checking on cattle FFS!

    Volvo Sold

For some reason I though you had sold it ages ago. I'm not a big volvo fan but from the pics it looked like a nice comfortable car for long trips about the place.

Either I'm getting more fussy or new cars are getting uglier... I can't seem to narrow down to any specific cars. 3 years ago with the mondeo, I knew from day 1 that's what I wanted, just really liked the look of them. Nothing seems to grab me now though...

Just paid much amount of monies for this motor tax thing... Forgot how expensive it was....

However, the last time I taxed the red 156 it blew up on me the next day so I'm hoping for a slightly better outcome this time....:pac:

    Rich smug bastard :pac:

I'm upgrading the brakes on my own soon, drilled and grooved with greenstuff pads on the front and vented discs on the rear, polybushing the rest of the front and getting a carbon aero spoiler for 100 odd euros, not too bad!

I've just lost interest in secondhand cars at the moment. I was thinking of changing a while ago. But I'm just thinking the effort of trying to find a clean secondhand car and then sell my own fcuk that. Plus it would be so stupid to sell a car that is running perfect and causing no trouble to replace it with a potential troublesome yoke. I'll look at it again next summer 2016 I think. Id like a nice mk6 but most of them are in sh!t at this stage.

I wish RS spoilers were 100 euros :(

OE ones are almost impossible to source over here

Seen a car in Tuam there Friday, could have sworn it was you. Blue, 07 reg, but it had fancy reg plates and was a G reg. If I knew it wasn't you I could have investigated if it had an rs spoiler, which I could have "borrowed" for you

Getting a clutch delay valve put IN? Only ever seen them taken out.

May I ask what a clutch delay valve is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,327 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

It's kinda like a damper so that your hamfisted clutching doesn't kill the car/make driving unpleasant

This links explains it much better than I could.
The Clutch Delay Valve (CDV) is a one-way restrictor installed by the factory between the clutch slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder, as shown in Figure 1. It "delays" the engagement of the clutch, much like old record players use a damped tone-arm to gently lower the needle onto the surface of a record.

Because of this valve, no matter how quickly you lift your foot off the clutch pedal, the clutch engages the flywheel at a constant (slow) rate. In theory, it can save the driveline from shock, were an inexperienced (or immature) driver to dump the clutch. But in practice, all it does is prematurely wear out the clutch and turn experienced drivers into people who, despite years of practice, cannot shift smoothly. During parallel parking maneuvers, the delay can be infuriating, causing constant clutch slippage. And during hard acceleration, the slippage can greatly shorten the life of your clutch. During normal, sedate driving, the shift from first into second gear is often jerky, leading passengers to question your skill. As the driver, you can see your passengers' heads bobbing back and forth during every shift! Yes, in their minds, they are laughing at you.

I actually find that mine makes driving in 1st and 2nd horribly jerky and awkward. I'm sort of after getting used to it but still considering getting rid of it.

If there really is a need for a rideyourclutchforya valve like that then surely an autobox is a far superior solution...

Just doesn't compute in this clutch-kickin-fun-lovers mind..

The valve is literally just bolted onto the clutch line. Easily removed and very cheap. Also, most cars don't even have them. I know BMW are (maybe were) one of the main culprits for them, apart from M cars of course, which says a lot.

And yea, it stops you from dumping the clutch and spinning wheels is a rare thing in my 320 because there's not enough power. Probably less of a problem on a 330 I'd imagine.

After years of doing my very best tp preserve weak clutches as long as possible I couldn't possibly have a car with one of them!!! would be very infuriating
