I'm absolutely, totally and utterly disgusted by the actions of that guard in the video.
Relations between AGS and the people they are there to protect have already been damaged by this IW fiasco but this incident may just be a bridge too far.
No-one in their right mind could possibly condone his actions and see them as anything less than complete and utter thuggary of the highest order.

Any guard who displays that level of aggression towards an already restrained woman, should be removed from the force. You should not wear that uniform with that kind of appetite for aggression.
He has brought his profession into further shame with an act like that. And I'm sure there are guards out there who would be disgusted by his actions.

No wonder the people shout "Shame on you"

I would like to see IW to cease trading and water to remain controlled by government/local auth

Based on the footage and the reporting, I think the Garda action was 'robust'.

Its exactly what you should expect if you jump in front of the Taoiseach's car.

Ah come on now! Of course she's going to be shoved out of the way, and rightfully so, but that there is OTT.

It's a fine record, and I'm not envious at all. You have 28 minutes more, you could do 150.

What if she was a suicide bomber? She calls out to her god when she falls to the ground, in a similar way to the muslim jihadists.

Possibly a bit over the top. Its hard to be sure with only a partial video. We might see more in the coming days or information from other people who were there.

What if she was a suicide bomber?

If that was the case, they all would have been blown to hell. Maybe you advocate a de Menzes style of attack is the best form of defence

Especially when you don't see the burly cop running at the restrained woman and push her into the metal bollard and blocking the car for good measure?

I really can't see any possibly about it. I realise it happened fast but the other two had the situation under control and moved her out of the way by time he barrelled in.

Its possible that the water balloon was one that went astray and came from some local children playing.

The video is only partial so I cant be sure.

No. But they didnt know that she wasnt armed at the time. Which show what remarkable restraint and good judgement they observed. Gardai to be commended.

Garda to be commended for acting like a violent thug and obstructing your leaders car.

Sure they should have shot her instead, just in case.

Great restraint by them alright. They should have given her a few digs when she was on deck as well for her troubles

nahh Liebour is finished. 'Frankfurt's way or Labour's way' - with that as the tagline, Alan Partridge could play the role of Gimmemore in the comedy of the year.

I may have lost it when faced with such sick behaviour which you defend. decent people get sick when faced with such things but you have lost the argument when you speak about the wishes of the electorate. FG and FF might merge but either way they are now proven to be exactly the same, both corrupt , both sell outs and both beholden to a golden circle of gangsters and banksters. And above all else interested in drawing down as many multiple pensions and quango jobs as they can grab with their greedy hands.
The government are all traitors. There is absolutely no doubt about that. No human being is perfect but we can safely exclude all traitors from Dail Eireann as the first step in the right direction. The way you talk about the relationship between governed and government sounds like a page out of the hymn sheet of any 20th century dictator - patronizing. You cant patronize safely the hundreds of thousands to a million people who are against water charges and of whom the majority are highly educated.
The majority were on the streets , the pensioners and grandparents , parents with prams and buggies. The middle class is moving against this sickness. Without them you are talking to yourself. And after nearly a decade of being robbed blind they know how the propaganda works. Take your water tax and shove it .The militant rabble are the tyrants in Dail Eireann, not the diverse people who marched against the double and triple Water Tax.

I see a democratically elected government, they govern until, at the constitutionally defined moment, they do not.

I see no traitors. what I do see mixed in amongst the anti water brigade is a shadowy alliance of nere-do-wells, agitators, hard leftists and anarchists .

I for example have no issue with the idea of metered water. I have issues with IW and so forth.

And if you think the middle classes ( the ones with assets and some things to loose) are going to vote in a rag tag group of leftists and dodgy ex-republicans, you've misunderstood this electorate badly.

The fact is the mainstream do not in itself have a problem with metered water or paying based on usage. thousands and thousands of water meters have been installed all over the country without a peep. I saw Sierra installing in an ordinary housing estate in Greystones , with no issue. Thats solid middle class stuff.

The vast majority of people, accepted and understood the actions that we're taken after the collapse of the economy. We all know that the bank guarantee forced the people of this country into a straightjacket. But having said that they knuckled down and sought to ride the storm out, its looks like they did too.

Im not at all running down the ordinary man and women that protested against IW. I am concerned that the campaign is being de-railed by increased militancy, agitation and the involvement of the lunatic fringe, some of whom are themselves elected TDs.

The fact is this is like the LPT, the government full all know that there has been a f^&k-up and will seek to fix some of the issues.

Whats happens in 2016 will happen and the democratic state will hopefully proceed onwards. The great majority of people want no truck with the wackos and anarchists.

like all rants, you need to get your facts straight
You cant patronize safely the hundreds of thousands to a million people who are against water charges and of whom the majority are highly educated.

I know there is a very reasonable survey done by the credit union, thats suggest its really about 70-30 in attitude to meters and paying for water, certaibkly we have no ideas about the million you are taking for granted.
I think the whole campaign has been badly mis-managed and I personally feel IW should have been setup from scratch and not forced into this nonsense with union jobs and CC assets. Its clear that the government was trying to fix too many issues at once and its back-fired. I would like them to collapse and re-establish IW, Thats doesnt mean Im against the principle of metering and pay by usage.

Great restraint by them alright. They should have given her a few digs when she was on deck as well for her troubles

At the end of the day, she's a girl/young woman.
To fire her into a metal bollard like that was, and is, a disgusting and disgraceful act.
The fact that pro water tax people are on here condoning it saddens me.
But sure that's the type of country and society we have now.

Perhaps we all should reflect on that sad fact.
    Goodnight everyone.

I was supposed to get a shilling bonus from FG for doing 50 posts that Sunday. According to the kind people who counted up mine. It never came.
