I do not want to pay for water in any way
So its not peaceful then, no?

No one has an issue with peaceful protesting.

Real my comment it's more factual than yours.

You are getting worse at this. I recall you saying you raised alot of valuable posts over the course if this thread.

I have yet to read one.

I didn't say they did. Read it again. The construction of the sentence is correct. They blocked the car for 2 hours. They also banged on the car.

    Is that peaceful?

    Yes. Yes it is entirely

Where was the riot squad for the farmers around the country blocking meat processors or farmers blocking the entrance to this factories not peaceful?

I think it is. So why the double standards of policing?

    Absolutely agree there,
Brain hayes was speaking on RTE few weeks ago about private investment to help fund Irish water down the road.
That with EU anti competition laws that IW will breach it be only a matter of time before its sold of for profits.
Interesting article here about UK water rates
    http://www.theguardian.com/money/2013/feb/09/rising-water-bills-profits

That is interesting - a 64% increase in the UK in 10 years, and not the 1000% that posters on this thread are claiming will happen here.

I agree with metered water charges

I'm sorry but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that that photo of the brick throwing is photoshopped. Look closely!

Who claimed 1000%? Show me on a post.

    How is that interesting?

I wonder if the Minister for Education went to the Graduation would yesterday's reaction of been the same? Sending Bruton was simply asking for trouble.

    Terrible

Thanks. Unfortunately there is still quite a cohort still not at your or my level.
It is what is good for us, but because the taste isn't nice they are having a tantrum. And a game has to be played to bring them along for their own good.

Read the article again its a 82% increase in 10 years.
£550 pounds so just shy of 700 euro per year.

All they got out of it was some tool with a brick.

And joan inconvenienced for two hours

it will end up as a positive experience for Burton.

She has now experienced the sense of alienation, frustration, anger and powerlessness of the people of Jobstown and Tallaght and beyond. Government Ministers don't live in these areas and deliberately avoid them.

she can now take what she has learned back to the Cabinet table and communicate it to her colleagues who i'm sure are as equally divorced from reality.

The country will benefit as a result from Burton being discomfited in the back of a warm Ministerial car for a couple of hours.

Is hitting the Tanaiste with a missile (3m) peaceful?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,138 ✭✭✭SaveOurLyric

I don't vote for his particular party either, but he is proving to be a TD who is clearly working on behalf of the people who elected him, and listening to them.

It has been pointed out by others that he's not from the area, I dont get the point or relevance of that though.

    He's a member of Dáil Éireann .
Or an opportunist who is using the water issue to exploit the more vulnerable voters in society to get himself into the Fail and further a political career.

It wouldn't matter who it was. Paul Murphy is running the show in Dublin South West now and woe betide any austerity person who dares to show up.

Some individual throws and egg and you use government speak to call it a missile.

The rest of the protest was peaceful or shall we not talk about the sit down which was pretty much the entirety of the protest.

No because that doesn't fit your Agenda phoebo.

    Which you have.

Let's not talk about the hundreds of thousands on the streets peacefully marching.

Doesn't make phoebo headlines. Not fitting the agenda

I'm not paid vast money's by you to implement policies that I promised you I would implement.

If however I was paid by you and not delivering on any of the promises I made to you to get the job I'd expect you to be upset and some reaction. Because I have a level of intelligence.

    Which your arguments do not.

I drove by the farmers in clones the other day. No issue, all in at the side of the road, blocking no traffic. Could I have driven unhindered down the road in jobstown yesterday? I didn't see any video of people being harassed that work in the meat factories or their cars being hit.

The brick thrower is a scumbag that went too far. All the other peaceful protesters are patriots of this great nation who are prepared to stand up for what is right and just.

I don't think you know what a patriot is.

When the election comes around I expect that some candidates will be followed round by people shouting slogans and sticking cameras in their faces. This is the sort of agitprop which Paul Murphy will be able to stir up.

Joan Burton was hounded out of Dundalk before and not allowed to speak at the employment event she was meant to launch. Paul Murphy and his communist friends are not interested in democracy or free speech. Anyone who is not on message will be hounded out.

It says "up to 82%", but it also says the average is 64%. Ask somebody to read it to you again.

They blocked deliveries. You clearly dont have a grasp of their issue or what they did yo address it. The result of their protest was discussion and compromise.

Which is what's happening right now that IW. You should be thinking your neighbours for looking after the country for you. They are doing a task you won't. Its great to hurl from the ditch.

    So we're all clear now.

Apart from throwing the brick at the Gardai and rocking the car and throwing an egg at the Tanaiste, it was a completely peaceful protest ;)

I'd really have to question the decision to let her walk into that crowd given the level of anger out there. That was a wake up call for sure.

3 isolated incidents in a considerably large crowd, not exactly worthy of hysterics.

Joan has very little knowledge of the subjecg matter. I don't think she should be in government tbh. Her skillset is poor and she has Been shown and time and time again to just be good for poor sound bites.

Why would it suprise you that people can't take her and her labour party seriously on employment.

Id have no interest in listening to her soundbites which have not bearing in reality.

What makes you think people should be forced to listen to her especially given her performance in government and the roll back on everything labour stands for and their mandate for government.

Your a soundbite man yourself too
