I do not want to pay for water in any way
Irrespective of the many different opinions people have of paying for water or the government's reasons for introducing water charges, how anyone can come on here and repeatedly defend Irish Water itself is absoulely beyond me

It stinks, from its inception, to how it was staffed, to how it has gone about its business, the whole thing is rotten.

Its the figures and accuracy of same you comment on rather than the principle... wow.....

You know they are losing when they are ignoring the main point. :)

You can just imagine Pheobe watching every single post looking for a mistake somewhere, sad really.

Stinking and rotten is good in the pro water tax mind.

Unless they're on an average of €333k a year, that figure is bull****.

Really? 12 years plus pension and other benefits? You don't think it couldn't approach a fairly high figure?

Tell me about it. There's no room for good old fashioned actual facts in a lot of the posts around here.

    Grand.
Perhaps you could tell me how much a family of 2 adults and 2 children under 18 will pay per year, basic, without going over their allowance?

He stated a fact but may be out in his maths.
So...His maths was wrong...lets agree on that.
Now deal with the other part re local authority staff being given IW jobs with no actual function...go on...

So what did I miss since yesterday? Are the pro-IW posters still ignoring all the evidence of cronyism?

Looks that way, they're making up stories of Gardai and IW workers being assaulted instead, twisting a high court judge's words to suit that story.

    .

Stockholm Syndrome, it's the only possible explanation beyond utter stupidity (or they are in the pay of FG/Lab/IW)

I would like to see IW to cease trading and water to remain controlled by government/local auth
If cash is such an issue then whats with the 6 figure wages to failed county managers who have 'retired', under performance bonuses, car allowances. gyms etc.
Start there. have a word with those in the know. i reckon you have the means.
Nice of you to acknowledge that its not fair though. We're getting somewhere with you guys...you are one of 'you guys' arent you?

But it's not your place to decide on how the Guards deploy their resources, it seems however that it is to decide on how they are best wasted.

I never said it was up to me . So you agrees it's a good thing for armed police to go to peaceful protests now , Yes you said it wasted , wasted resources . Pity the Government don't put as much " resources" into dealing with the dodgy bank dealers and their ilk of this country .

    OK i'll play ..

If we give them an average of 40K a year that will work out at 1.2Bn over 12 years without any bonuses or wage increases been included..

That's still an unreal sum for what's basically an unneeded work force.

    How much is he on? €50k, €333k, €1.8m, €6.4m?
Does it even matter - sure its just numbers and apparently they don't matter at all!

I agree. And to think that the anti- IW people here want them all to be retained in employment by the local authorities in perpetuity.
At least with IW there's a timescale for getting rid of them.

What intrigues me is that that poster seems to think that working for FG is dirty.
It's some kind of admission :D
