That reminds me of an article a while ago where a 316d was referred to as a "high-powered" car.

It'll show you how little knowledge some of these journalists have about cars.

It's ridiculous, I wouldn't even count the 530 a performance car and insurers have a fit when you ring for quotes etc!
Only last week we got a new policy, rang a few on a Saturday and they said they couldn't possibly quote such a car unless the underwriters were there to sign off on it.
    It'd make you laugh!

Which then reminds me of when AXA bumped up the insurance on my 1.9D S40 and said it was now considered a performance car.
When I first saw the title I thought it was going to be luxury Mercs and BMWs... the last cars I would have thought about were Skoda and Ford.

I'm pretty sure Axa had the same line with everyone this year, I could half believe it on my yoke, but after some back and forth they backed down and reduced my premium to 630ish i think. Still a fair whack for a 26 year old, tpft, 5 years NCB and no commuting!

I wanted to, but struggled to get quotes anywhere near that reduced price. So I had little choice in the matter! It sucks! I reckon it'll only get hard, as this car gets older....:o

I just got my renewal have to check it against last years, get some alternative quotes and then ring up and haggle

FBD from what I can see are giving the best price (for me and a 2.2 car anyway).
Can't remember the exact amount but it's something like 30e per month cheaper than what AXA were offering.

My mechanic hates those cars, he's had a couple that broke his heart

Troubleshooting on them is impossible the fuelling system is so complex it's a joke, the engine itself is very simple same block as the Focus ST.

Thats a good €150 cheaper than I pay on the Golf with Axa at the same age and NCB, but I do have a named driver. Which in turn was about 25% of the renewal quote I got from Aviva :pac:

One of the few benefits of being ancient.......cheap insurance:p

Yeah but there's only a few years until your blocking my way doing 15mph with no lights on (or everything on including fog lights because it was foggy last March) at 9pm trying to count everyone else's cattle over the ditch :)

Lads, any of you having spare self-dimming rear view mirror and wants to get rid of it? ;)

There are loads of them on ebay alright, but I'd rather prefer to give some €€€ to a boardsie. :D

Got me some new front tyres today...

    Nankang NS-2s :pac:

Huge step up from Federal SuperSteel 595s though. Happy enough with them, they grip much better than that muck.

140 quid for them fitted and balanced too, so happy about that! (225/40/18)

Hmmm.... So Saudi Arabia and OPEC are in an oil-price war and are slashing prices..

How soon until we can have a good old fashioned petrol-fight on the forcourt. Those were always a lark!

I read about SA... the bastards are only cutting the price for the Americans. The Asians and Europeans will still pay the same price.
    Pr1cks.

Speaking of car insurance quotes I got a few a few weeks as I was thinking of buying a car (although now I'm not I'm keeping the golf). I don't know what liberty are like but they were giving me quotes at about half the price I was thinking in my own head. I'm only 20 and I though the car insurance was very reasonable well on a golf car around 2008 I'm not sure if there in a particularly low risk group.

The set on micks garage doesn't have a Square Drive 10mm; it has a hex drive 10mm. Same with halfords.

sorry :o. Thought it had one in it. Forgot the renault one was an 8mm. I've gotten strange singular sockets of ebay before, if you haven't looked there already.

I've always found liberty mad dear. About 400 euro more than chill on the last renewal. Just realised that in 18 months I'll be 30 with 5 years NCB.

Anyone know what the story is with changing car mid insurance policy? Engine size will be the same or less. Do they generally charge big admin fees?

Yeah that's the one. Bunch of sneeky fcuks.

I couldn't believe how cheap they were around 950 on a golf fully comp with break down assist covering me to drive any car and all that. Everyone else is probably thinking that's expensive but for my age I though it was very cheap.
