Out of curiosity would fellow motor forumers be up for a meet before Christmas. Although the idea of meeting up on a damp windy December doesnt really appeal to me while we all freeze our balls off, so a boards beers maybe?

    FYP :pac:

I'd happily attend. Beers (non boards related) is usually the reason I don't make meets on a Sunday :P

May as well get 2 birds with 1 stone! :D

This is true, see I see a dilemma with this, if its a motors forum beers, then who drives there??

Yep that's what I meant. In fairness midway, the Phoenix park, or even howth head really don't appeal to me on a freezing cold December morning. Some beer and a warm pub however....

Bus into town for the people who live in the gda. Sure there's plenty of couches for anyone who's too far away. Or the non drinkers can drop people home:p

Well I'd assume there will be some sort of small meet so I'll be venturing from Limerick to wherever (the big shmoke I'd imagine) so the car will be parked up somewhere after that finishes and before the beering commences.

Had a 3 hour chemistry lab today and it was painful labs are just sh!t in general though. How people turn around and say college is the easiest time of your life. How could it possibly be easier than a 9 to 5 job I go to college 9 to 5 and then have to do assignments college work, lab report 30 plus this semester alone, and study for exams. At least with a full time job you have your evenings to yourself there's a lot to be said for that.

Oh a month ago there was time for nothing (maybe the occasional beer :pac:) but now that I'm unemployed......

Actually a phone call that I will be making in the morning could see me in Dublin for a good while again. Fingers crossed

I can imagine that was crap. I often worked 70 hour week during the summer with my summer job and I still preferred it to college just that feeling when you go home that's it. Now I know that's not the case with every job. I'm not trying to make out that the working world is piss easy either as people can have very demanding and stressful jobs too.

It was fairly horrid alright. Add it to final year of a masters and it was just intolerable

I was thinking of doing a masters straight after my degree but I've kind of gone of the idea. I think 4 years is enough to do. I'm lucky enough that I don't really need to do a masters to get a job I don't there's been anyone in the last 4-5 years who didn't get a job within a month of finishing the course and most 4th years already have jobs got even though they won't finish until next June.

Silly oul me has chosen a career that involves lifelong learning where I've to show continual professional development. Had I to do it all again I'd have worked from 18-23 and then decided on what I wanted and not worked backwards from 600 points on the cao application form because I didn't know what I wanted to do. :pac:
I should be qualified in October next year (we've to do a year internship and exams after our degree, to be able work at what we got our degree in) but after final year I couldn't hack the academic side so I'm doing a 2 year practical internship and one year academic.
You might think you can stop learning when you finish college but you don't. You just get to stop learning all the useless bull**** they teach to give jobs to people who are overqualified
Like when is a pharmacist ever going to need to know the inner workings of an nmr machine when they're working in the community. :(

My work phone gets switched off at 5:30 every weekday and any problem can wait until the following day. I never bring work home, ever, I don't care if a site is on fire, I'll deal with it the following morning.

Ya college is a pain alright. My course was a 44 hour week, contact hours, then not to mention assignments etc. Mental altogether! It's a tough time!

Sounds tough! My day consists of getting up at 6am, 6:30 bus to town for 7:30, and from about 8am through till closing time, 9:30pm I'm drawing up stuff or researching things, it sounds easy but I dare you all to design a stairs to comply with parts m/k/b of the building regs :pac: next to bloody impossible :o doable yes but it takes an age

I agree with you there You never stop learning in life general really. My degree is so vast in terms of the amount of areas you can work you'll never know it all. I'm looking forward to my placement next year I know it will be a huge eye opener as suddenly all you've learned is theory and then your standing there in a huge plant thinking wdf but it's a huge opportunity to get some practical work experience and possibly a permanent job offer out of it once your not completely sh!t :D
