Minimum age for marriage. No marrying within families.

Then there's forcefully removing them from land they have not purchased. Mandatory tax returns... How about we just make them obey the law without people shouting "that's racist!"

Prejudice is rife on this thread. If a black kid came into my school and damaged some final year projects 15 years ago am I justified in making sweeping statements about black people based on this incident?

If one driver cuts me up I don't say all drivers are bad - it was one experience in my life. If I drive on a certain section of a road and experience poor drivers in a regular basis in a short amount of time I'll say there are poor drivers around there.

I'm not old enough to recall, but my grandfather would tell me stories about his dealings with travellers going back 50 or so years ago. They never would have been best mates or anything but they certainly would have been a lot more civil than they are now.

I would say the problem mostly has come from the government throwing money at the situation (in the form of social welfare for travellers) without ever really trying to integrate them. I'm not trying to say travellers are blameless and I've personally never met one I was particularly fond of, but the relationship between the travelling and settled community has gotten worse and worse over the years which has probably lead to the high levels of crime and anti social behavior which many of them involve themselves in now.

50 years ago travellers would have provided services to local communitys not robbing the sh1t out of them

all ready being done. but many of the so called "civilized members of society" will treat them like **** regardless because they are bigoted and can get away with it. slowly but surely these bigots will be made to see the error of their ways and those in the traveling community who want to integrate will be able to do so in full

they are made to obey the law without people shouting racist. like some in the settled community, some travelers won't obey it no matter what. if they want to marry within families thats their business and doesn't effect you. why should they bother paying tax toards a society that has extremist bigots among it? and maybe if land was provided for them to pitch up they may not take over places, or maybe they did purchase the land who knows. but nobody wants to do anything because they are afraid of the bigots who want eradication of fellow irish people AKA the traveling community so continuation of burying the heads in the sand and leave things as they are to fail is how it is and is going to be. so put up

what most people dont realise,or dont want to believe is that,travellers by in large, do not want to integrate with the settled community , or follow regular laws .. most actually would be termed racist towards settled people if the blinkers were off.

ive grown up around em,school,areas ive lived ... they create their own problems,want the government to clean up after them,pay them,and let them be different from everyone else in whatever way they decide, and all the while they will hate the same people who are helping them and WILL NOT try and integrate ..

as soon as they are born they are taught to hate and never trust settled folk, much the same as settled folk learn to distrust and hate the travellers ...

its a circle they are only too willing to continue,its exactly what they want..to be separate.

and i have good time for a few off them aswell,all of what ive written has been told to me by them over the years ,women especially ,although being the matriarchs once a certain age,have no real respect growing up,only to look after kids,to a lesser extent cook...only once married and a mother do they gain a voice within the community.

So it's regular members of society who are to blame for travellers wanting to get everything for nothing? Brilliant logic, maybe if travellers as a whole stopped being a blight on society, started paying taxes, declaring where their money is made and stopped wrecking the sites given to them for nothing because of their "culture" that people wouldn't have a negative image of them.
The ones most responsible for any bigoted views towards them are travellers themselves.
