    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/taoiseach-ira-paedophile-expulsions-to-republic-causing-concern-and-fear-30690737.html

The Taoiseach hits the nail square on the head:

"This is an issue that obviously is of the greatest concern and fear for people. The questions remain to be answered: Were there people removed from Northern Ireland who were involved in sexual abuse? Do Sinn Fein know where those people are? Do they know the activities that they are up to? Can they give a cast iron guarantee that this did not happen and that, if it did happen, that these people be reported to the authorities?"

I wonder should there be a separate thread on this. There is the small issue of who leads Sinn Fein which this thread is about and there is the much larger issue of where are the perverts, rapists and child abusers which SF/IRA let loose to offend again.

    I don't believe this.

At least the Church tried to keep an eye on those they moved on. Sometimes they moved them to places where they would have no contact with children.

It seems from what you say that the IRA just let them loose to prey on other children.

The doubletalk from SF/IRA on this has to end and names and locations and events have to be given to the Gardai and the social services.

I mean seriously, they are saying we know the IRA did this, we know they were decent people who did this, but we don't know the details and nobody in our circle knows the details either. Cop on lads.

I m not sure about how the church and their handling of the whole situation should be cited as an example on how to deal with sex offenders. Thats just laughable really.

    Oh dear.

The Republic of Ireland itself only started tracking sex offenders in 2001... nice that you and Edna hold the IRA to higher standards than the Irish state!

Can't we call them "RUC/UVF" at this stage? If "SF/IRA" is fair game...

I m ok with that. For the RUC of that time.

They were locking them up well before that though.

Interesting that you seem to think 2001 is recent history, Mairia Cahill's kangaroo trial was then and Gerry and the lads seem to think that was back in the dark old days of a different Northern Ireland.

Ah, you mustn't have understood my post.

The Church was a disgrace in the way that it handled sex offenders, SF/IRA are doing their best to be worse.

I never said it was recent history or otherwise.

Shooting sex offenders is worse than protecting them?
    If you say so.

Ahh Come on . The Sinn Fein defence is getting so tedious

Did you not get the memo from Parnell Square. Everyone is to maintain radio silence for a few days

I can see the headlines now...

"Sinn Fein select Larry Murphy to run in next General Election"

Nothing would surprise me anymore with this craic.

Did Edna send the carrier pigeon yet? Keep Cahill in the media spotlight for as long as possible to ensure her rapist never gets convicted...

Don't dig yourself into too much of a hole. Plenty of developments to come out regarding this issue yet!

And what's worse is that this whole sorry saga took place after the Church abuse scandal emerged. You would have thought that lessons would have been learned.

Who said he started researching/writing it on Friday morning or that he would be filing it on Saturday afternoon? Even if that were true, what has that got to do with what he tweeted about not being able to get a reply from any Sinn Fein sources? if he tweeted that he couldn't get a comment from a FG/FF/LAB source about a story would you be saying the same?

I dunno, I'd imagine if it was the Sunday Times they'd want articles filed before Sunday, not that following Tuesday? Just a wild guess that.
Destroyed in the replies anyway when it was pointed out to him that just about everybody in SF has talked to the press already.
Poor ickle diddums Mooney late to the party.

Perhaps he can't get anyone to comment on some new revelations that he is set to publish? Just a thought.

Lots of people have papers to sell and lots of people have political agendas.
Could we just keep this on the tracks and have less of the whatboutery?
Let the questions to SF continue - and lets hear the answers.

And where did it say that he started researching the article on Friday morning? You are also wrong about Sunday papers filing their stories on Saturday afternoon - they usually go right to the wire on Saturday night.

By "Destroyed in the replies", I presume you one the one tweet that said "all interviewed hardly silence". Or perhaps you are referring to Ruaidri Ua Conchobai's replies drawing attention to his infamous blog post?

Your "Poor ickle diddums Mooney" comment is indicative of the attitude that has been displayed by Sinn Fein supporters on this thread and you are doing yourself no favours with your responses. I am from a very Republican family and have family members who were members of Sinn Fein. I would normally be very supportive of the Republican cause and I am well aware of the intricacies and subtleties that are involved in this case. Before this evening my only other contribution to this thread was to highlight how other politicians were using this case for their own ends, but as soon as I posted a simple clarification about Gerry Adam's blog I am jumped on. Well done lads - you have managed to alienate me against you, and if you've managed that then you have surely managed to also help convince neutral readers that you are wrong. Maybe you should take a cue from HQ and STFU.

Well it just goes to show how badly you're barking up the wrong tree as I couldn't give two hoots about the republican cause. 26? 32? Not bothered one bit.
    I've said this before already.

Dan , have you noticed that the Sinn Fein reps have gone ???

This is not by chance. Take a break and read through your last 20 posts .

Do you think you are helping Sinn Fein ?

Who are you a "rep" for then? Come on now, apparently to have an opinion here you need to be a "rep"?

For the record , I have never voted FF or SF. In the past I have voted IND FG LAB . I don't remember ever voting Green. I have never joined a party or contributed even at church gate collection

I have no idea who I will vote for in 2016

    Thanks for asking

But that's enough to make you a FG rep then if I'm an SF rep.
I've voted for just about everybody except FF and PDs at various times and have never been in any party.

Ah yes, nothing to see here ... move along ...

I have noticed that the articles on the Journal relating to this whole controversy have consistently been the most read all week. Same goes with the Irish Times / Irish Independent 'Most Read' tabs. But sure no one is interested in it, must be a glitch. Or a conspiracy.

Gerry, Marylou , McGuinness, Toibin all bored ****less.

Talking about sending abusers down south, kangaroo court interrogations of rape victims, etc etc must be terribly dull for them.

No wonder they are all refusing interviews.
