Also, since he can't actually heal the injuries that led to death, Oberyn wouldn't be quite as charming afterwards.

That would make a hell of a season finale though, here's Ned, Robb and Oberyn back from the dead, teaming up to beat the lannisters once and for all... if they'd stop bumping into each other :pac:

Or would they have to keep Ned in a jar if he came back to life? :p

I still don't see how he really expected The Mountain to confess to being ordered to kill his sister, if he was or not.

He expected to have him completely at his mercy, he cut the tendon in Gregor's leg, hence he fell to the ground. There's no recovering from that, so even if he manages to survive, he'd be crippled. That mountain would ride no more. So Oberyn expected that he could do what he wanted, flick the him on the nose and the only thing Gregor could do in return is flop like a fish and use harsh language.

Which is exactly what he could've done if he had just cut another tendon or two, and taunt him that he'd never be able to pick up a sword again, that he'd be an invalid, a burden the rest of his life, that all his strength amounts to nothing any more. I'd imagine it wouldn't be too much effort to enraging him into coughing up then, or bargaining to put him out of his misery. Pretty sure that's what Oberyn was going for, he should've just shoved that spear through the mountain's wrists before getting any closer.

Also, the show kinda did suggest that spear + leg = fight ender, did it not?

Pretty sure they already did when the Hound cut Baeric Dondarrion in half last season.
If I'd just got a spear in the guts I know who I'd be praying to!

Does Ramsay flay people alive or is it just his call-sign?

It's what the Boltons do to any captured enemies. They've been at it so long their house flag even has a flayed man on it.

Which is why I don't understand how Rob Stark had him so close. Rob wasn't exactly one to turn a blind eye to injustice to further his own cause. We seen that when he killed Karstark. So why would he have Bolton as his right hand man when their family is so famous for torturing people its on their banner ?

Ned stark had flaying out lawed in the North, which Boltons seemed adhere to so Rob had every right to assume they were loyal.. but yes in hindsight it was a mistake unfort

Didn't Robb Stark also scold Roose Bolton at one point reminding him that flaying was outlawed in the north?

Boltons and Starks were hostile for a very, very long time until the Boltons bent the knee to the kings in the North.

Flaying was outlawed but according to Game of Thrones history, there may have been a room in the Dreadfort where they flayed their prisoners without any Stark finding out.

Makes you wonder why anybody would surrender to them then, Theon or no Theon vouching for them.

I must be the only one who thought that Oberyn was a dick and sort of happy that he got his oversized head squashed.

    :pac:

    He was such a wanker.

Episode 9 coming up and we haven't seen or heard from any of the following since season 3...

    Mance Rayder.
    Osha and Rickon.
    Blackfish Tully.
    Edmure Tully.
    Gendry.

I know they weren't huge characters and Game Of Thrones has a lot of stories to keep track of but I'd still like to see where they ended up.

Mance is still building his fire, I suppose.
Osha and Rickon are travelling to The Umbers.
Blackfish escaped the Red Wedding, surely it's worth showing what he's up to?
Edmure, still a prisoner of Walder Frey?
Gendry, he's been on that boat a long time.

The consensus seems to be that Mance Rayder won't be missing for long.
