I presume Tommen would be able to commute Tyrion's sentence if someone could influence him enough?

I can also see the decision to name Ramsay an heir backfiring on Roose. The man's a loose cannon.

Yes didnt he say himself that people are already fleeing The North due to Ramseys brutallity? [EDIT: just rewatched and he says "Ironborn are fleeing"- so alot of what I havr wrote makes even less sense now ha] Makes you think of the line about Baelish and "He would see the world burn if he could be king of the ashes" - except Ramsey doesn't seem to bothered about The North (saying he sees nothing when Roose asks him what he sees)

At the moment Ramsey is quite one demensional - we know he is a sadistic sociopath, however using Theon as tactical move other than a "play thing" (his attempt to bargin with Theons father failed and just pissed of Roose) obvo impressed his father enough.. will see but he is a character I can imagine will eventually get his come uppance (hopefully by Theon but I can't see him doing it)

When is Cersei going to get knocked off? I'm so over her.

About the pardon... any chance it could be the Qarth warlocks who sent that? Haven't seen any mention of them since the child/bug attack last season.

Could a book reader or someone knowledgeable tell me what relation Dany is to the Martells via the Targaryens? Every time I check something like this I end up spoilerising myself.

Dorne was the last kingdom to join the "seven kingdoms" and to bring them into the fold the prince of dorne at the time married daenarys targaryen(the first of her name i think)! So realistically they are very distantly related but nothing worth knowing about! So for example daenarys is more closely related to stannis than she is to oberyn (a targaryen married into the baratheon house at a later stage)!

I thought the pardon was the Lannisters. Didnt Cersei say before that she could forge Robert Baratheon's signature?

Its Tywin. He asks for a pen and paper at the small council meeting in EP6 to get Varys 'birds' to deliver something to mereen.

If this was spoilered because it's a book spoiler, should it be removed?

Would just like to say that I don't think mods should be putting spoiler tags on posts that give away future events if the poster is only speculating. The post I quoted above was something like "I Think xxxx will happen" I actually thought it was ludicrous but then spoiler tags went on it and I pretty much knew that is what is going to happen.

I appreciate the mods have a very hard job on here and i'll get over what was spoiled being spoiled, but just something to be careful of.

I think you're spot on, I wondered at the time but it only really clicked when I re-watched it. I don't think Oberyn was getting his blade polished and why would they show his assistant doing that right in the middle of the Grand Maester's introduction speech, the cloth looks damp/wet to me and he's wearing a thick pair of gloves. Makes sense imho. It's probably why Oberyn was feeling so cocky.

I'd say Oberyn was cocky because he felt he could beat anyone in a fight, and he'd probably be right. He took apart the most fearsome warrior in the Seven Kingdoms in full armour with nothing but a spear. It would probably be close between him and Jaime in his prime.

Several times they have made a big deal of Oberyns brother ... the first time when he arrived for the wedding (when his brother was considered the higher status invitee) and once when Oberyn took the stage to fight The Mountain... he introduced himself through his relationship with his brother ("do you know who I am, I'm Doran Martell's brother!").

I think we are about to find out that badassery runs in the family... that's my guess! :)

So said Oberyn... plus, gout can be healed. Mostly I'm just grasping at straws that we get Oberyn II lol...

ah but didn't Oberyn say at the wedding that he suffered from Gout or something, a "rich mans illness" he called it I think?

Maybe he was a badass back in the day but I think he more than likely be looking like King Robert on his death bed than King Robert in his prime..

Deffo think we will be seeing alot of Dorne next season though, I feeling that Myrciela will be becoming a big character in the series..

I'd say he was mentioned like he was because he's the head of the Martell house. Then again it seems like a pretty formidable family. And I cant see him being too pally with the Lannisters when he finds out a second sibling has been killed in brutal fashion in Kings Landing. The alliance will surely fall apart and the future might not be too might for young Myrcella Lannister.

The whole thing is crumbling around old Tywin it seems. Martells alliance will surely be off, Littlefinger in the Vale gathering the houses around the young lad, The Boltons with the north wont give two f*cks about Kings landing or the Lannisters any more, Stannis now bankrolled by the Iron Bank with a mind to seeing him sit the Iron throne.

Don't forget he was bested by the Prince of Roses too. Albeit on horseback.

He was only defeated because his opponent's horse was in heat, which caused his stallion to go off balance. That's why he tried to kill him afterwards and the hound had to intervene.

The problem with speculation that happens to hit the mark is that the mods have no way of knowing whether the poster is someone who has worked things out or someone who has read the books and is trying to show off by pretending to work things out when he/she already knows what is going to happen.

Sometimes the speculation has such a tenuous basis and yet is so close to the mark that it's pretty obvious the person has read the books.

Yeah, well I guess I'm a non book reader who has now read some of the books (around where we are up to on tv, and ahead a bit). Don't believe for a second with some of these 'guesses', but maybe that's just me. I'm sort of in no man's land, can read in this thread and not really say anything regarding what I know will happen, or I can read the book reader's thread, and get spoilers of things that will happen further down the line than I have read.

I guess if you really don't want anything to be ruined, you wouldn't read on here at all - you're only tempting fate. Even if someone does take a stab at what may happen and it ends up being true, it will still somewhat ruin it for you as their guess may have been a legitimate guess, but nothing you would have thought of yourself.

Yeah, it's like that bit in a movie where somebody coughs randomly and you instantly know they're going to die of cancer.

Better chance than a spear in the belly... (which is pretty much 100% fatal with the apparent medical care available)

Chekhov's gun is a dramatic principle that requires every element in a narrative be necessary and irreplaceable, and that everything else be removed.

Remove everything that has no relevance to the story. If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there.

I think if there's suspicion that someone is passing spoilers off as speculation, then the post should either be deleted silently or left as is. Adding spoiler tags pretty much confirms it to anyone who has already seen the post.

I saw the post in question and considered reporting it, but I didn't see anything in the poster's recent history that indicated they'd read the books.

Well I'm sure Tyrion will get out of the death sentence somehow.
I just have no idea how he could now.
But then I was sure Oberon would beat the Mountain and that prediction didn't go so well. :(

I'd like to see the Hound kill the Mountain but surely there is no way the Mountain can survive that beating?
