The Tully's I don't think we'll see until next season at the earliest, same with Osha and Rickon. Gendry I'm not sure if we'll even see him again any time soon. I don't know if he has a genuine claim to the throne being a bastard or who would back him to be king. Apart from fleeing Kings Landing with Arya and being wanted by the Red Witch I don't see what he'd be doing.

I'd say this season will end with the Wildling assault on Castle Black.

Episode 9 coming up and we haven't seen or heard from any of the following since season 3...

    Mance Rayder.
    Osha and Rickon.
    Blackfish Tully.
    Edmure Tully.
    Gendry.

I know they weren't huge characters and Game Of Thrones has a lot of stories to keep track of but I'd still like to see where they ended up.

Mance is still building his fire, I suppose.- Isn't the plan that when the Wildlings reach Castle Black from The South they will signal to Mance to light the fire and **** will hit the fan?
Osha and Rickon are travelling to The Umbers. Thank fock, they bored the bejaysus outa me tbh- they'll prob come back into it at some stage next season
Blackfish escaped the Red Wedding, surely it's worth showing what he's up to? Again, I'm guessing he is going to do a Barristan and go missing for a season and end up somewhere with new characters next season
Edmure, still a prisoner of Walder Frey? He is married to Frey's daughter so I'm guessing at least he will be kept alive.. Plus better to be in Frey's dungeon than Boltons.
Gendry, he's been on that boat a long time. Hopefully he makes an appearance soon, Dempsie is a great actor- again unlikely this season I reckon though but suppose alot can happen in 2 episodes. Was it Kingslanding that Davos sent him back to or where was it?

My 2 cents to that Marston

Speaking of characters we've not seen for ages, we've not seen Great John Umber since Season 1, I wonder if he'll be back?

Well, both Rickon/Osha and Gendry are supposed to be hiding from Lannisters/ powers that be, so I doubt we'll see them until there's a plot reason to come back into the fray. And although Rickon is a Stark, I can't see him being much use to anyone until he's older.

So I'm not sure if this has been discussed earlier in the thread but if the mountain dies (which looks bloody likely) then the lands and titles of Sir Gregor then pass down to the hound, I wonder if there is a plot line to develop.

Does the Mountain have any land or titles of note ? If he does and they do pass to the Hound I'd imagine Tywin would cease them and give them to someone else given the Hound is a traitor.

Yep he does, it was mentioned in the first book that his father had an "accident" whilst out hunting, Sir Gregor then inherited.
" Ser Gregor Clegane is the head of House Clegane, a knightly house from the Westerlands, and the elder brother of Sandor Clegane. " http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Gregor_Clegane

This is how its described though.
House Clegane is a vassal house that holds fealty to House Lannister of Casterly Rock. Their lands are southeast of Casterly Rock and consist of a small patch of land and a modest house. They are landed knights rather than a full noble house, but have strong ties to the Lannisters.

Cant imagine it being of much interest or use to the Hound given his current relationship with the Lannisters.

I take your point but me thinks that House (of cards) Lanister is surly about to blow down, however this could be a mute point as the hounds days look numbered with that wound on his neck.

Why? They seem to be getting rid of enemies pretty well and developing ties with allies?

Hold on, your post up the page a bit says "In the first book" are you in the right thread?

Don't know about that. The Tyrells were in on Joffreys death and are in league with Littlefinger who's now pretty much in control of the Vale. Oberyn Martell has also just been killed in Kings Landing which will strain relations with Dorne.

They are also deep in debt and reliant on the Tyrells to keep things ticking over while the Iron bank to which they owe a vast sum has bankrolled Stannis to take the Iron throne.

I'd say they are digging quite the hole for themselves.

Ya I'm in the right thread, I'm currently reading the first book now,
@ the mods, is it ok to make reference to the first book at this stage

True enough I suppose, let myself become blinded by the fingers in the Vipers eyes :(

They do have some obstacles to overcome, but I wouldn't exactly count them out :) I thought the problem with the Tyrells was mainly little Joff anyway though? They just didnt want her to be married to him, cause of him being a twisted little **** and all.

Dont think they mind an alliance, even if they are not bosom buddies, though I am tired so I may be forgetting loads of stuff, I literally forgot the Iron Bank has just funded Stannis, I forgot he existed in fact when trying to remember enemies of the Lannisters

Random question here: Is Cersei Lannister officially known as "Cersei Lannister" rather than "Cersei Baratheon"? I realise that she is widowed and all, but Lysa Arryn didn't revert to Lysa Tully after Jon Arryn died.

That's the way it looked with the Tyrells as they got rid of Joffrey and immediately set about getting in with Tommen. But given Littlefingers involvement and his recent talk of gathering the houses around the little man of the Vale and entering the fray along with Sansa being there its hard to know.

Its not hard to forget about Stannis either, he's hasn't been up to much.

That's a tricky one as there are a number of inconsistencies throughout the show and books.

Cersei technically is a member of house Baratheon but high born marriages are mostly political and Cersei keeping her last names shows the influence that House Lannister had over Robert, you see that influence further when King Joffrey displays both the stag and lion in his banner.

House Tully IMO is a lesser house than Stark or Arryn and Lysa and Cathylen took their lords title. Plus the North and the Vale are not as politically complex as Kings Landing.

Elia Martell (the vipers sister that he mentioned occasionally) kept her name when she married Rhaegar and previous to that the Targaryans mostly just married Targaryans so there was never really an issue over the surname.

Baratheon I assume? The kids have both been called King xxxx Baratheon

Catelyn Tully would have become Lady Stark but I think she could still call herself Catelyn Tully.

Cersei Lannister and Elia Martell both known as that.

Lady Tyrell is called Olenna Redwyne, not Olenna Tyrell.

Fun fact: in Oberyn's back-story he approached
Viserys (remember, Dany's brother whom Khal Drogo killed) offering Viserys his niece's hand in marriage and an alliance between Dorne and the Targaryens. It had apparently come down to John Aryn (the hand prior to Ned) to keep the peace.

Spoiler^ it's not much of a spoiler, as it's in the past, and no enormous revelation, but just in case. Also
the longer term implications may be apparent

The Targaryan really had the coolest names ever. Viserys, Aeris, Rhaegar. Even the family name is awesome. They sound like evil robots.

There's a minor character from the book called Dickon Manwoody... Not as cool as the Targaryens but definitely memorable. (And don't worry, he's completely irrelevant to the tv show and his moment has passed anyway).

No they cut him out altogether. He was supposed to be in Oberyns entourage when he arrived in kings landing.. I reckon GRRM was just taking the píss with a name like that.
