I see the Madlib show is listed as 20.00 start time. Is it an early gig? Strange for a DJ set.

I wonder can I convince my girlfriend to go to the gig with me?

I need to find a nice Madlib song that will help her to get interested. Any suggestions?

    No Madvillainy or Freddie Gibbs.

Try some of the Yesterdays New Quintet stuff ;)

But there is no guarantee what he'll be spinning, funk, soul, country, Italian 45's from the 60's...who knows!

Can't wait to see them! Wasn't going to bother going if they wern't on the bill. Portishead also playing, you could sorta class them as hip hop, instrumental wise anyway!

Really liking the look of the EP line-up in general. Good few artists there that I'd love to see - Outkast obviously, Beck, Portishead, St. Vincent, Chic. I'd say there'll be a couple more dance acts to be announced. Still don't know what's happening with the comedy tent yet too, which is a great place to sit and chill out when you're nursing a hangover.

As soon as I have money, I'm gonna get my hands on a ticket.

Would rather Forbidden Fruit except the day-visits style of it.

Anyone else going to go to Ugly Duckling and The Animators tonight?
I've got a plus one available if anyone is interested.

    Who is for OutKast then?

I'm dying to go, though none of the EP lineup interests me.

Tempted to go for one day ticket when OutKast are on, or else just go for the craic, full weekend mill about the first day or two before then and wander around the place check out a few artists I've never heard of.

What's best tickets to go for, does the event usually sell out etc?

anybody any ideas of Doom set times ? or past choice cuts events they've done in sugar club what time main act has come on ? I'm working to half 8 in town & dont want to miss start of Doom's set

Choice have doors opening @ 7.30 so you'd normally have support act on around 8ish at the earliest & tickets.ie have start time being 11pm which could be a typo or else that was the time they were given by choice cuts before a support act was added ?

11pm is definetely a typo. Last ChoiceCuts gig I went to was The Pharcyde back in July and I think it was well after 9 by the time they came on stage. Doors were 7.30 that night too.

I think you'll be grand but maybe leg it just to be on the safe side!

Knowing DOOM he'll be late. His last show started kinda later than planned as far as I can remember.

He put on a good show in Bristol last night going by some comments I've seen on Twitter. Turned up really late though :pac:

Going on some of his past antics, you'll be lucky if the real Doom turns up at all. It's the only thing that turns me off going to see him.

Deadly, looking forward to this now!

    (EDIT) ChoiceCuts just put up the times!;
'Doors are 7.30pm, Mobonoix 9p-915, DOOM shortly after give or take as with all hip hop shows'

just came on to post that, looks like they gave in to everyone asking on FB & twitter :D

@jimmy iovine yea that's a big part in why myself & a mate are going the guessing game on weather he turns up at all or sends an impersonator

He hasn't no showed any shows in Europe yet afaik, only the states. The past two shows he's played over here he turned up so I'd doubt he would pull anything.

EP is most certainly on the cards, went last year based on wu tang playing it and said I'd go back again this year regardless of the lineup but outkast have basically sold it for me, I've probably ranted and raved about andre 3000 too many times on this forum already so I'm not even gonna start :D

Doom gig was good. He only played for like 1h though, is that normal? From about 2230 - 2330.

The live drummer Kwake Bass really made it, kept Doom on beat.

Sugar Club is a pretty cool venue too. Although it felt like the sound engineer was insensitive to low frequencies, the bass was EQ'd way too high and drowned at all the vocals.

Oh man that's a relief, I had to pack it up around 2315 and get the last bus, was crazy pissed off over it. ChoiceCuts might as well have not bothered giving us times.

Thought it was an okay gig, like you said I couldn't make out everything but the energy was class and support was surprisingly decent. Picked up a signed JJ DOOM record for fifteen squid too.

Looking forward to Madlib and PBW now...

Good show. Wasn't sure what he'd be like with the drummer but it worked out nice. Yeah the set was a bit on the short side as well, fairly sure he played for a bit longer last time he was over, but it was quality all the same. No matter how many more times I see him I can't see him topping the show in The Button Factory a few years back.

Earl up next on Wednesday now, lets see if mini DOOM can top him :P

It was only a 45 minute-ish set. It was decent but nothing great. The drummer was class. I agree on the sound too, at times you just couldn't make any lyrics out.

agree with everything said above short set not surprising considering how late he came on, it was difficult at times to hear him I thought a few times his hype man's mic was louder then his, sugar club set up is very good not packed to the rafters like most venues, drinks very pricey though
