So..... who wants to defend Moyes?

Would give anything t see the fuker sacked tonight. Just want him gone, a shambles of a manager. He doesn't have a clue, tactically inept and cowardly.

I'd say he'll see out the Olympiacos and City games and then the club will make a decision from there. He's not the right man for the club but I think there is little chance that he will be sacked.

From day 1 Moyes conducted himself like someone who didn't quite believe his luck that he was the manager at Utd. That never changed and I'd say now at this stage he is someone who has absolutely no self belief and that transmits itself to the players.

Right from the outset when he got the job I was all for giving the man 2-3 years regardless of how things went, as Fergie had requested....

But I don't think even the great man would have envisaged it going this bad.... Its pretty dire in fairness and I think only a change in management will see a brighter future for us...

Fergie got many things right but his successor wrong IMO....

Fergies worst signing , even worse than Djemba Djemba.... 12th false dawn of a dire season

It has been Fergusons worst judgement call since he thought Djemba Djemba could replace Keane

    Edit: beaten to it

Moyes interview - "Not much between the teams in the first half"

They were all over us from the get go.

Gravity of the situation really grabbed me today. All my life of watching football Liverpool have never been a better team. Better on the day maybe..but this is a real pivotal moment. Liverpool clearly in the ascendancy. They were so dominant today.

Another season like this cannot be afforded or it will be too tough to claw back.oyes needs to start making big decisions regarding players. And I mean big decisions. Not once this season has someone being dropped and you could see it as a "I dont approve of your performance..your benched".

The problem being now that the gamea are so big and he's under so much pressure doubt he will take the chance.

I'd be dropping Evra for a start and playing Buttner. Regardless of ability Evra is just taking the piss this year.

Jones and Smalling in CB...or Evans in beside jones. No more vidic.

He needs to make a call on Mata and Rooney. Can't play both. Nothing wrong with dropping Rooney. He can't be made infallable. He needs a rest. His performances are nosediving.

Fellaini I thought was pretty good again. He broke up a fair bit of play and he is just a menancr. The headbutt from Gerrard was dirt. Watched it a few times and Gerrard is 100% staring at Fellaini and purenuts him.

My support for Moyes is hanging on by a thread. Only because I'm of the believe that a fair amount if the first team squad have taken it easy this year...and he hasn't got the quality to replace them.

I said earlier in the weak you need no firing up for Liverpool and it just wasn't there today. No pressing no harassing.

Tactics were poor though. I said going 4-4-2 would be asking for trouble and that is what happened. Liverpool just wallzed anywhere they wanted.

Absolutely shell shocked after that. Like I said support for Moyes is by a thread.

    Pure nonsense

So, moving on from that disaster, how do you think utd overturn a 2 goal deficit in the CL during the week?

I think today showed us Janzaj is nowhere near first team quality yet, I think van Persie needs to be benched, Carrick was once again weak in midfield. There's that quote about the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Time to change it up maybe?

You mean Jan our only attacking threat ? Agreed on RVP though..

Lack of any convincing game plan once again, tactics missing and the players not playing for the manager. It's a certainty that if Fergie was still in charge, these poor performances wouldn't be happening.

Yes the players are also to blame for the poor performances, however the responsibility for this rests with the manager who is directing, motivating and driving on these players. Under a different manager these same players won the league just last season. Moyes has failed so far and I can't see how he is going to turn it around to be honest and I think he knows this. His body language says it all.

Daresay the fat lady is clearing her throat, David. Not that i expected us to beat a team that isn't fighting relegation

Rodgers brings up Moyes saying LFC favourites pre-match. "I would never say that at Liverpool even if I was bottom of the league"

    Says it all.

Wish more managers would stick the boot in a bit harder like that tbh.

I don't understand this impossible job rubbish. EVERYONE at the club understood that the transition would be tough. We were willing to accept top 4, as long as we saw signs that the man knew what he was doing. He inherited the champions with an apparent 200million to buy more players. What did he do? He swanned off on holidays and brought some of his old buddies over from Everton.

Impossible job my arse. It was a dream job, that was given to a man that didn't have the credentials to do it.

I also don't buy into the crap that he needed time too have a look at the players he was manager of Everton for ten years had to play United twice each season, he has seen the evolution and weakening especially in the last few seasons. He has been a complete f**king disaster like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

Moyes the Djemba-Djemba of management.:(

I didnt see Secman saying the Djemba comparison before posting. Totally agree though the great man has f**ked himself over so much with the Moyes appointment.

Classless of Rodgers to even comment on that. Thought all managers stood by each other.

Rubbish. He was or best performer today and is league's ahead of Flanagan and Johnson.

He is no better nor worse than either.

Thing is, I see Flanagan getting better. i don't see Rafael getting any better than he is now.

Not good enough for a top, top team and would get nowhere near any of the other top teams in Europe's starting 11's.

Jan did nothing today! We are a team totally lacking any attacking threat! 1 shot on target!

Honestly the player's should be motivating themselves. Surely one of the senior players should be kicking everyones ass in the dressing room and on the training ground. Its woeful from the players the last several weeks. The manager does seem clueless but surely the players could work a bit harder and if they lack respect/belief in moyes then have a word with those above him about shipping him out.

In the meantime they should get their asses in gear and actually play like they give a ****.

Wednesday would be an ideal time to play with some goddam passion for once.

I don't get how those who can see (apparently) exactly what is wrong with us at the moment cannot see that Jan is currently not up to being a consistent starter, especially in big games like today. He will be a great player but he needs more consistency and to gain a bit of strength before that happens.

Q: You've only beaten one team in PL top 9, what does that tell you? Moyes: 'It tells you we aren't doing as well as we should be'

    LEAVE!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,825 ✭✭✭Timmyctc

This is actually better than what i thought the worst case scenario would be. I was fearing moyes would do okay. Enough to keep him in the job constantly but not enough to keep us top two. I feared he would turn us into outsiders a la spurs Liverpool etc. Never winning things consistently. Luckily hes done so **** he has to be sacked and replaced with a world class manager

Agreed. I just dont get it. Id love to know whats going on in the dressing room myself because it sure as hell isnt working.

Getting fairly personal with Moyes now, he's a good manager who just doesn't cut it at the very top. It's not like he appointed himself and set about breaking United.

I want to see him replaced for the sake of the club now, give someone with a track record at the top the 200m or whatever to spend. Giving him that kind of money is idiotic if it stays the same and the next manager in wants to change the system but has 200m worth of players who don't fit into it.

Chelsea players did that once and were rightly criticized for it. It's painfully obvious Moyes isn't up to the job already, giving the players a sense of invincibility would only make things worse.

Laughable, He was arguably the best FB in the league last year though Zabaleta would argue against that.

I like Flanagan he seems very intelligent and hard working but he's average. Technically he's not a patch on Rafa.

Still think Raf played well today even though he was lucky to stay on the pitch. The hand ball is clouding people's judgement of his performance.

Rooney says "one of the worst days I've ever had in football." while Moyes comes up with this...
Moyes did admit "job harder than I thought" and accepted he cannot keep relying on #MUFC crowd being so supportive
