In relation to a potential sacking and seeking a suitable replacement. Fergie's closing words on the Old Trafford turf are ringing around the boardroom namely because he still has influence at the club. It remains to be seen just how powerful that influence is post retirement.

At the end of the day the glazers are businessmen and as a business Utd are doing well, I would suggest that is their number one priority. On the field they know very little I'd imagine, this is where advisors are hired and listened to. Utd's board have arguably the greatest manager of all time as one of their advisors with the added bonus of knowing the same club inside out. He is also the man who chose his successor.

It's going to be a massive turnaround from fergie to remove his support for Moyes, or will Fergies opinion be dismissed on this matter by business men who have limited knowledge of the game, this would be a massive gamble by the board as it would inevitably sour the relationship with Fergie also. This leads onto who is going to select the successor? Ask Fergie again if he supports the dismissal as it is an unlikely scenario if the club go over his head to dismiss Moyes.

The point of cutting losses has passed months ago and the board had written off this season long ago IMO. The business of Man Utd embarked on a six year plan/commitment with/to David Moyes in true Fergie fashion supporting and committing to a strategy of longevity. Will the business now move to change their plan and re-evaluate just a year in and start again?

All depends on who is influencing the decision makers and how strong that influence is.

    By doing what exactly?

Well tbh, you're probably right. His silence is what speaks volumes at the moment. I can imagine he gets into bed with Cathy at night and says "What the fcuk have I done..."

You can't blame this on the players. We have a premiership winning squad plus Mata. The manager is the problem. He is so out of his depth it's scary.

Plus the semi mobile privet hedge we bought for centre mid.

    And Jan.

You know your team is in bad shape when someone that supports them says they can relate to Linkin Park lyrics.

Bizzare post to say the least

Well it comes down to if you think the team is at fault or the tactics the manager employs to which the lyrics describe to a T.

It's night day stuff from the last couple of years that we are seeing now.

So what do you all think? Will the board have no option but to sack Moyes if Man City inflict a similar humiliation on the 23rd of March? Man Utd were dreadful again today, I watched the whole game, the last five minutes felt like I was trying to hold my hand on the radiator.

THere's always going to be another match. A few weeks ago people were saying, If liverpool beat us they board will have to act. Now it's Man City. This can't keep getting put off.

The board aren't going to do anything. He won't be sacked yet

I dont like to say it but the best thing for the club would be to go out of the Champions league on Wednesday ,and lose to West Ham and City ,then Moyes will surely get the chop and the club can start to get things in order before the season is over.

Liverpool didn't even have to play that well to thump us today. We just let them do whatever they wanted for the whole game pretty much.

Only players who weren't total muck were De Gea, Rafael and Fellaini.

Was over on United thread no.2 and someone must be handing out lemons.

League contenders but still talking about Fergie.

I doubt Fergie will lose support for Moyes soon but the business minded people on the board will, and some have I'd say

I saw your spout some awful drivel on the match thread earlier. Must have been galling to see league top scorers rip yee apart at home. Todays victory is one to relish against utd fans like yourself , it really is. 14 points and counting dude!! not bad for the "contenders" :)

De Gea was outstanding. That save!

    Says it all.

Saw that yesterday and it summed up the complete lack of belief and self confidence for me. Writing his own resignation letter was my first thought. Imagine Fergie talking like that? Small team mentality permeating the club now. Needs cutting out at the bud.

He's going to get at least one more season I think to try and fix it.

It's the wrong decision but Ferguson won't let him be sacked just yet.

We gave the ball away 14 times in the first 3 minutes.

You do realise that 'one more season' could see him spunk 100+ million.

    Thats the bigger picture.

He won't just say it as it is. Its so embarrassing that he won't criticize Moyes.

Sat watching that bull**** in a pub full of Liverpool fans some my in laws !

Total joke just dont understand how anyone can back him as a manager next season will be the same just we will waste more money in the process.

The players froze as soon as they got by the halfway line it was awful really to play that way against your biggest rivals at home really shows just how bad things have got.

I dunno what more to say really this is not Manchester United where a totally different team this season there is a massive massive lack of belief and class there that i really cant see Moyes being able to win back.

So the players escape blame? Come on ... RVP looked so disinterested today it was embarrassing.

Lads what did Rogers say that was apparently classless?

He said something about how 'his Liverpool would never approach a game with an attitude of underdogs, even if Liverpool were bottom of the league'.

Whether its classless or not depends on the question that was asked really.
(People are linking it beside DMs pre-match assertion that MUFC were underdogs)

Do commentators regularly come out and say they think a manager should be sacked?

In Gary's defence, he dived right in to criticizing Moyes' tactics after the first 5 minutes.

Why did he remain on the pitch for 90 mins, though he worked hard enough he was poor ?

only the sensitive souls could pick the bones of what Rodgers said to find anything remotely classless tbf

Yeah, off the top of my head. Trap and Staunton.
So Neville criticised the tactics but Im sure he knows the tactics have been wrong for most of the season. But why doesnt he just tell the truth.

I feel he is a terrible pundit. With his head up utd's arse

My support for Moyes is on the wane after today. On paper, that Utd team should have been a match for anyone. The players have no confidence. I'm not sure how Moyes can turn this around. Maybe the purchase of a few big names will invigorate the team but then again, Utd have just bought Mata.
