Love the thinking :D :pac: ...

I'd ask you one question then. Can you afford VP with only a 4 pts hit? How much you have in the bank once gotten rid of Ade & Sturridge and taken VP ?
If you can't, considering your options and the fixtures this could well work for you.

Just when you say you want VP for only one week, does this mean you'll sell him after the Fulham game ? Think despite the current look of United he's fixture proof. And anyway bar the blank in GW28 United have pretty favourable fixtures coming up!

    - edit -

OK that was several questions  :pac:...

I could afford him with a 4 point hit but it would involve weakening my team. My midfield options are Lallana, Silva, Yaya and Hazard and I don't see myself wanting rid of them all season. I could do it with a 4 point hit by downgrading Koscielny but I prefer the idea of spending the 4 point extra, getting a Dzeko I want, and an Adrian that I want long-term. I've 2.7 in free funds btw.

I would see myself switching back to Sturridge next week though yeah. Not that RVP isn't capable in any game, I would just want Sturridge and approx 4 million to use elsewhere. This is a 1 week punt that I wouldn't take if the 2 other transfers didn't also strengthen my team.

yeah or i may get johnson seen as people in my league have mata so wouldn't gain any points

I'd go for Mata. You may not gain points by having Mata but you could avoiding losing them. Johnson has some daunting fixtures coming up and given how his last few years in the Prem have gone he could very well be a flash in the pan. Mata definitely isn't.

Speroni is my other keeper, he will be the one playing in goals this week. I don't want Marshall anymore at all and Adrian looks a good shout for clean sheets in the following gameweeks.

But with that said, the 4 point goalkeeper hit isn't because of the goalkeeper. It's to facilitate the RVP transfer while going with a transfer that I think could pay off the 4 point hit in the following weeks after.

I'm conflicted, because I will only want Van Persie for one week. But I'm inclined to think that RVP could well bag a hattrick this weekend, and if he did it would be 34 points for me. Even if he was to score a goal and an assist that would likely to be 24 points which would pay me off nicely. This Fulham team are awful and have to play a midweek game tonight (hopefully with extra time too)

Very interested to hear what others think about it when you consider that the other 2 transfers do strengthen my team also. Obviously if RVP scored just 1 goal or less I would have to consider the move a bit of a failure.
RVP is also tempting me. I have 2ft's to facilitate the move though so different circumstances. He is the best captain choice this week and not many people will have him so if it went well it could see big gains made.

Chambers, Ade and Barkley up for the chopping block, but won't take a points hit. Need to start thinking about the blank gameweek too.

Will likely upgrade Chambers to something more reliable, perhaps one of the southampton sure starterd.
Or do Barkley to Johnson. Or Colback. Or famble on Zaha.
Ade is looking less likely. Only real option is Dzeco, but don't want 4 united and city players. J rod is a possibility.

Basically, I have not got a clue what I am going to do.

    Ah Right.

So. If I were you I would definitely not do it for a 1 week punt. Not worth the risk methink. In a way it's almost a 12 pts hit since you've a transfer already planned for the following week. So if any of your player get injured or suspended it kills your plan.
If I was going for such a gamble I'd go for it mid to long term. United will have to improve anyway. They will fight back to try and qualify for Europe. After all despite their catastrophic season they're only 5 pts below Everton.

Negredo is carrying a knock and is not 100%. Augerio is out. Jolevic is 4th striker.

Dzecko is nailed on with the other two rotating and he is going to be involved.

I am punting on him for the next few weeks anyway. Ade is too inconsistent for my liking.

Negredo is on his way back to fitness. I don't see why you have decided Jovetic is fourth striker? He's barely had a chance because of injury.

City have alot of fixture congestion over the next few weeks so I can't see a 20 million plus striker not featuring.

Was mata or rooney on set pieces against Stoke?

sorry, wasn't online again since this. i see your question has been answered anyway.

have you decided on which option you're going for or leaving it until nearer the weekend for any team news?

Zaha might be worth a gamble, Derby this wkd could go either way. Home games v Villa and Hull the following 2 weeks.

A more realistic way to look at the RVP situation is a 4 point hit than an 8 point 1. The other 4 point hit is realistically on Dzeko because I could do this without signing Dzeko. I just happen to want Dzeko.

So I guess the more realistic separate questions are?
Is Van Persie worth a 4 point hit?
Is Dzeko also worth a 4 point hit? Sunderland at home afterwards has to be considered too.

    Davis out Mannone in.

Liverpool will get at least 1 goal so that's why I'm swapping Szczesny out for this game. Hopefully Mannone will come through with another 11 pointer!

Most likely to be Silva in for the excellent 3 week punt that was cazorla.

But then every time I post my intention here something happens to blow the plan to crap. Yaya was pretty terrifying last night but I've made my bed on that one when I got Lallana as part of my Aguero replacement strategy so I'm gonna have to lie in it for better or worse.

Did you look at Mannone's 4 fixtures after Hull this weekend?

Have no intention of using him after this weekend. He'll be moved to the bench and Szczesny will be back to the team. Just figured he has a good chance of picking up a big score again against Hull so it's worth a punt!

Im going to wait for team news on friday. Im done chasing price rises at this stage of the season. I really cant make my mind up its either Ozil to mata and save a transfer or use my 2 transfers to do sturridge and ozil to rvp and navas. Option 2 gives me
    Boruc
Ward azpil bardsley evans(3 of these 4)
    lallana hazard silva navas
    rvp (c) suarez ade.
All players at home bar the 2 city lads and the best captain choice this week IMO. RVP being subbed off early last week when they needed a goal and the fact utd play arsenal 3 days later and moyes comments about using rvp and roo sensibly is whats giving me doubts though.

I'm considering bringing in van Persie and Shaw for Mertesacker and Negredo for -8 points (already did Mata for Gerrard). I would captain van Persie over Mata then against woeful Fulham. I feel like Mert won't keep many clean sheets over the next two months and the Man City striker situation is far from decided. What do people think?

What is he gonna do score a hattrick?

That seems unlikely but if he grabs another 11 it'll be nicer than 3 from Szczesny ;)

How many save points are likely against Hull though? I'm all for a gamble but this isn't a calculated one.

I want to play all 5 of my defenders this week... They're ALL at home

Any update on Vlaar / Evans?

I was happy enough to bank my transfer but I don't have united coverage and this is concerning me. My main rival has both Mata and RVP. United a very much a mixed bag but Fulham are woeful.

I could bring in RVP at a 4 point hit. But I would really be doing this to ensure i keep in touch with my rival in case RVP goes wild. I don't see long term role in my team in RVP currently. Personally at that price there is too much uncertainly for me at the moment. If I bank my transfer my main differentials would be as follows:

    Him: RVP, Giroud, Mata
    Me: Negredo, Ade, Miralles

With doubts about around Negredo and Ade not firing lately, i think he has the upper hand this week. I am 22 points behind, but i was was over 100 behind at the beginning of Jan. I would love to keep the momentum going and keep the pressure on him. Any thoughts?

    Choosing between one;

    Adebayor or Rickie Lambert?

Any advice? I like the look of Southamptons next fixtures

Lads what do you think of the below transfers. It would be a 4 point hit.

    Januzaj > Mata
    Aguero > Rodriguez

    OR

    Januzaj > Adam Johnson
    Aguero > Rooney

    For me:
    Januzaj > Mata
    Aguero > Rodriguez

Soton have good fixtures and Rod is in great form. After this weekend, Johnson fixtures get tough.

The bolded one by a mile imo.

Mata, playing well and scoring, some decent fixtures ahead
Rodriguez, again playing well and scoring and really nice fixtures

    v

Johnson, superb scoring of late but City, Arsenal, Liverpool after Hull (not quite sure he is fixture proof)
Rooney, just back but playing very deep, too deep for the money, may score well but that's not working in his favour.

Tempted to bring in Coleman with some good looking fixtures coming up.

    Tempted....

I'm assuming Mata is cup-tied for Europe? If so it makes him even more appealing. I have him already, just weighing up whether a 4-point hit is worth it to get RVP in for Adebayor. RVP and Rooney are likely to be rested at some point in the league if they are both needed for Europe.

Yes he is cup tied and yes it's worth the 4pt hit to get in RVP this week

Rvp as captain could close that 22 point gap on his own on Sunday........

I've been sitting patiently, waiting for a chance to pick a differential captain to catch people in my league.

I think that this is the week. Robin Van Persie.
