If there's no external damage I'd be arguing that I didn't drop it :D

Anyway small claims is worth a try. I doubt it's an exact science. The USB could have been imperfect at the start and plugging in and out the 50 or 60 times over a couple of months could have been enough to push it over the edge. Devices can be sold faulty. It happens all the time.

Either the OPs lying and the phone has been dropped or CarphoneWarehouse are looking at the phone, seeing a problem with the USB port and assuming it has been dropped. They probably see phones coming in all the time that have been abused and erring on the side of blaming the customer.

Phone hasnt been dropped at all, has full case on it along with MIME feather. It was sent from CPW to Dublin and thats where it remains at the moment.

Lads I am having issues with calls on my S4. Sometimes when I try ring someone, I hear nothing, the calls looks like its connected as the call timer starts counting, yet the person on the other end is getting my phone call but when they answer they cannot hear me and I cannot hear them. This happens at times lately and can last for a while, it happens when I ring any mobile network, or landline during that period of not working. Do you know if this is a software or hardware issue and can I get it fixed under warranty if hardware?

Does the SGS4 think that a headphone is connected by any chance?
Can you see the headphone symbol in the notification area?

To be honest I never checked, although during the call I have put the phone on loudspeaker to see that would change the situation but it didnt, still nothing

No I didn't try another sim. I will do that when I get a chance. I had good reception at all times on the calls.

My power on and off button is extremely over sensitive, any brush with it at all turns the phone off, very annoying. Any way to disable / reduce the touch sensitivity of it ?

Seemed fine to me when I had it. Put a case on it it won't make the button stick out as much

Call FoneMenders and see if it's covered by Samsung manufacturers warranty.

    Hi all,

Just wondering if any S4 users have experienced cracks in the LED screen (no damage to outer glass)?

My S4 seemed to just crack while in my pocket, no outer cracks or damage, just a tiny crack in LED which means it's unusable unfortunately. Have to pay nearly 200 for repairs.

Has anyone elses S4 being completely destroyed by the latest Android 4.3 update on Vodafone? Ever since updating the gyroscopic sensors are not working meaning the phone will no longer rotate. The gyroscopic calibration setting has also been removed. The headphone jack has also stopped working as has the sensor that turns the screen off whilst on a call. Are these common issues for other users? Is there any way of fixing this, a factory reset etc?

Those are pretty serious issues. Definitely time for a factory reset. I hope that solves your problems.

I found a fix online, I went to - settings - connections - more networks - mobile networks - network mode and changed it to WCDMA only. Haven't had an issue since.

I managed to get SuperSU installed on my 4.3 S4, but Knox seems to have kicked it to the kerb and I am stuck with it on 4.3 but reading as having a custom rom.
Also, combine with with SuperSU saying the bin is not installed so it will have to be redone.
Strikes me that the device is un-updatable now from Samsung as it's reporting the custom rom and blocking it, and it can't be easily rooted to install the preferred Cyanogen 11.
Is there a way around, I really know bugger all.
As it stands I have all the disadvantages of 4.3 and my phone still isn't rooted!

Why not flash the 4.4 KitKat google edition rom instead?

    Knox shouldn't factor in.

I just flashed to 4.4 Kitkat.... so much better than the standard rom!

I had this issue was a very weird mark and kept spreading, top right of my screen. Brought in to carphone and they replaced the screen for free

I flashed my S4 to Kitkat 4.4.2. The process is a bit convoluted and you should be aware that your warranty may be voided and there is always a small chance your phone may be bricked.

You phone should be an S4 I9505 model

    Basically the steps are:

    1. You need to root your phone.

    2. You need to install a recovery program (TWRP or CWM) and create a recovery file in case things don't work out. You can always restore to your original settings.

    3. You have to erase the previous 4.2.2 and flash the kitkat 4.4 rom which can be downloaded.

Personally, I find the google kitkat interface much cleaner and less bloated than the original Samsung.

These videos explain in detail the process:

How to root the S4 i9505:

    How to flash Kitkat 4.4:

The process may be difficult if you're not used to messing around with your phone. Also it may void your warranty and there is the possibility your phone may be bricked, but it worked for me and I prefer it by far to original Samsung ROM :)

    Good luck!

Got that update too, just googling it and a few are saying, improvements in battery performance, camera update and wifi fix.

Strange thing about this build it was released two months ago, yet its only making its way here now (my phone is unbranded / factory unlocked) I check for updates regularly and previously I have received new builds within max a day or two!

    Hey all,
My mate just got an S4 but wants to remove the default Google search box that takes up room on her home screen to make more room for the app shortcuts she wants. How does she go about removing this as drag and drop to remove does not seem to work!?

    Cheers,
    M

The drag and drop does work, make sure you drag it up to the top of the screen where the bin is located...
