Let me know how you do! I'd do it myself only I work during the week.

Got the 5S in Belfast last Fri. Had to take 64 Gb but delighted with it and in fairness the staff there are a joy to deal with.

    Ideally I'd want a silver 32GB but I'd take a 64GB and/or any colour.

I got the last 64gb Gold iPhone 5S at 10.30 this morning. The apple dude didn't sound confident about getting a delivery today.

What are the chances of having my launch Space Grey 5s swapped for a Silver 5s?

    Swapped...unlikely.
Returned under 30 days for a refund and waiting for a silver....more likely.

I've had black iPhones since the very first one but I must admit the silver looks nicer than space grey.

I had white from the start and changed to black and space grey this time around, think I made a mistake, its nice but prefer the original Apple white products

I think the black iPhone 5 was the nicest of the lot. The grey band around the 5S looks like the old iPhone 4 design, which was nice, but it's a few years ago.

Also, iOS 7 really suits that brighter phone.

I should have pulled the finger out and returned it sooner :( 30 days is this Sunday.

I suppose I could sell it on adverts and order a silver on on apple.ie

That's the main reason I want to swap. After seeking iOS 7 on my wife's white 4S, I prefer it much more.

I toyed with the idea of getting the black iPhone 5 as it does look slicker when the screen is off but I ended up getting white to go with my iPad.

Anybody else think that the white is feminine and the black is masculine??

I have the following order of preference with my mate in the US

    1. Gold 32gb
    2. Gold 64gb
    3. Gold 16gb
    4. Silver 32gb
    5. Silver 64gb
    6. Space Grey 32gb
    7. Space Grey 64gb
    8. Silver 16gb
    9. Space Grey 16gb

I'm thinking of sticking the Silver 16gb ahead into 6th place. I think whatever I get I'll probably end up trying to swap for a gold somehow!

In store at 14:00 today- no 5s in stock

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,206 ✭✭✭Zcott

I just bought one from eBay. Opened and used for 15 minutes apparently and it was £485 instead of Apple's £549.

Will let you guys know if I receive a rock in a box instead...

Those of you who have gone up to Belfast, how did you pay for it? Would I be OK with using my Visa Debit card up there?

Visa Debit is fine - you can use that world wide.

I'm planning on buying a 5s 16GB to replace my old blackberry. I was planning on ordering online for delivery to family in the North but then saw on the website that they will set your phone up for you in store and move your contacts over etc.

I know stock levels in the Belfast store haven't been great so is it possible to order by phone and they will tell you when you can come in and collect?

Also any idea how long the order time would be for a silver or gold 5s at the moment?

I plan to use it with Tesco mobile prepay (I'm on an old plan where I get 15 GB of data plus loads of calls and texts for 25 euro a month) so I have ordered a nano sim. Would I just take that and my blackberry into the Belfast store and they would do the rest?

Well, if they say so, then they will, though in my experience getting contacts off a Blackberry is a major pain.

Some carphone warehouse stores (dundrum, henry st, swords) have a device to copy contacts and other data between phones. It's charged (9.99) but its an option if you can make it to the belfast Apple store.

Thanks - my main question though was if anyone knows if I can order one over the phone to come into the store to be sure I don't waste my journey. I tried to ring the store earlier today but was in a queue of 8 people so I'll try later

No you cant order over the phone, I have tried that, its strictly in shop only and they wont even hold one if you ask

Ah right, that is a real pain then. Thanks for letting me know that and saving me spending ages on hold on the phone.

Might be back to ordering on line then

Any signs of pricing details from any of the Irish carriers?

Presume there's no chance of anything different to the norm? circa 200e for a 16gb on a 40-45e 24 month contract etc?

Won't be any pricing from the network carriers until the official release day.

Well it's normally a day or two before.

Already stated in the other thread, O2 just said they plan on releasing prices tomorrow.

Network carriers nearly always list their prices before launch day.
