    Hi All
Have the box a few months now and couldn't be happier with it. One of the big advantages is the speed of channel change and the plugins available, AutoBouquets E2 is super!:D
I have one small problem, when changing channels there is a buzzing sound is there any setting I can mod to fix this?

be wary, no address, no phone number, no mention of returns, cheaper not always best.

hi guys, popped for a solo2 last night and was wondering if anyone has any links for a suitable sata drive,500gb to 2tb,the quieter the better, cheers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭darragh_k

Hey. I got mine here and it works well. Very quiet

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0053YLTBC/ref=pe_385721_37038051_pe_217191_31005151_M3T1_dp_1

It's a great box. I haven't figured out half of the features yet. Mine came with BlackHole image on it. Messing about with it now, figured out how to change the channels on the TV from my Mac :-)

Also can stream to my laptop but it's skipping a lot.

And haven't figured out the best way to keep my TV channel list updated, I'm using a few different EPG tools. If you find any good beginner guide let me know.

tx for the reply,I have vix on my ultimo and its running very well but I might put Blackhole on the solo2 just to see how it looks, I think 'Vuplus community' should have all the guides you need for the Blackhole image, was the shipping free with the drive?

If you are getting a lot of skipping either don't try to stream HD channels or enable buffering through VLC player to take the skipping out of the equation.

Get the AutoBouquets plugin, it'll automatically download the channels for you, personally I don't like it so I just do a scan and manually update through DreamboxEdit about once a month or so.

I have a mx 2 android internet tv box. I've seen a section in it that says vu+ duo frontend. Does anyone know if that means if I get one of these vu+ receivers I can watch thr channels using the android box instraf of paying for a 'subscription'?

With regard to recording channels from Saorview, am I right in saying you would need 2x USB DVB-T tuners in order to be able to record any two channels at the same time?

Depends on which channels. If you record RTE1 you can also watch RTE1+1 at the same time with only one tuner as these are on the same frequency.

RTE2, TV3, TG4, 3e and RTE News now are bundled together on another frequency so you can record one of them and still watch any of the others on this same frequency.

Thanks. So I would need two tuners to record RTE1 and watch RTE2 at the same time.

Yes, to watch & record anything other than what is being shown on the same transponder you will need dual tuner system unless watching something recorded previously saved on hard drive. though for the life of me i can't think of anything worth recording on RTE1 ;-)

Just bought a solo2. What image should I go for ? Is it a choice between vix or bh

They would probably be the best two for the box. As always it depends what exactly you wish to do.

Best about it is you can try one, save all your settings and then try the other.

If that doesn't suit you can restore your first image to exactly the point you left off.

Lots prefer Vix but that baffles me. Personally I've got a nice Black Hole.

What are the main differences between the two images?

I'm looking for autobouquets, iplayer, record to hdd, epg for motorised setup

Not much, but for what I do Blackhole is the preferred option.

Plugins handle anything you wish to do on both images - with very few exceptions.

An image is easy to flash - takes just a couple of minutes - so go ahead and try both. As I said you can save the image, with anything you've installed, and restore it to that point again.

Any harm in asking how much it cost including delivery and where you got it from?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭red bellied

I got mine from here http://www.ielektroniks.com/vu-solo2.html. It was recommended by other posters on boards, took just over a week to deliver, running perfectly since.

Thanks for the info folks. I saw a mention earlier in the thread that satboxes.com weren't responding to emails, are they still an option or not does anyone know?

I got mine from satboxes.com and that was after someone posted about them not responding to e-mails. Your man responded to all my e-mails fairly quickly even late at night. He even fit a 1tb drive even though they are not advertised on the website.

Send them off an e-mail and they should get back to you if you have any questions or specific requests.
