Yup, that was like mine too. Especially on my lucky cycle.

The thing to remember is that the LH surge can last only hours. So you could be at work while you get it, or sleeping, and only catch the beginning or the end of the surge - enough to change the stick, but still paler than supposed to be. But as far as I was concerned, as soon as I saw the line, I assumed it was a good thing.

I used the access diagnostics cheapies sticks like yours Ms2011. Grand cheap yokes they are!

Yeah cheap but effective, not planning on ttc again until this time next year but as they are so cheap I'm using them at the minute, 1) to get familiar with my cycle again & 2) cos I miss peeing on sticks lol!!

Me too! I had a Mc in Jan, but not really trying until the summer. And even then its very casual, having a rough idea of my cycle but not being stressed about it. But I've also got engaged, so we might be holding off until after a wedding. Hmmm...decisions... but I'm so broody.

Congrats on your engagment, getting married in March myself so no babas allowed before then plus I'd like to use next summer to try toilet train the little fella if he's ready then I can think about ttc again with a clear head.

Can I ask a question that's bothered me for awhile,I get loads of cm at the start of my high fertile days but then when im hitting peak fertility(on my monitor) its not so visible,does this not affect the whole process??Sorry if that's tmi!
Had a chat with my husband today he wants us to try clane fertility clinic,says he wasn't impressed with the way we were treated in the hari the last day we were up.Its not like him to be like that,think irs probably because I got so upset!

It is probably fine. Sperm should ideally be waiting for the egg (since eggie only lasts 12 hrs) so by the time you are hitting high peak and probably ovulating, the cm has done its job in the days before, if you see what I mean?

I do think you should try another clinic. Its important that you feel comfortable and trust the medics that you are paying. I felt like adopting the nurses in our clinic and I felt very comfortable with our consultant, which makes the process much easier on you. You'll be stressed enough anyway, why add to it?

That makes sense Neyite,thanks for that!I think i will look into Clane it would make life alot easier tooCos i dont mind drivin there,drivin in dublin is more nerve wrackin for me than what i'd be going up for!!Which Clinic do you attend?

I was in the west so attended Galway. Have a little scamp at home thanks to them.

My period is now a week late so I'm getting pretty hopeful at this stage. Sods law being what it is I'll probably get it this evening :rolleyes:
I have taken a sneaky test and got a negative however this test was in the evening time around 6pm. I drink a lot during the day (around 2 litres of water and a mug or two of tea) so my urine is very light coloured so I know that the hormone levels are likely to have been very low.
If its still late in a week I'll take another test first thing on a Saturday morning with husband (who I now think is lovely rather than wanting to tear his hair out as per my previous post # 4784 - thought it was bad case of PMT but now who knows:)) waiting on the other side of the bathroom door.
Hopefully we'll have something to celebrate and not have to go to work afterwards.
Negative tests with no period don't always mean that you're not pregnant though do they? A blood test from a GP would confirm wouldn't it?

Penny you can definitely get a false negative... Especially on the cheaper tests. Buy a clearblue one next time and test early in the morning. Best of luck!

Thank you! I checked the Pink Pad app that I have been using and I'm 9 days late according to it. My boobs are tender too and seem to be a little bigger (but I could well be imagning that

).
Its funny, in the previous months if my period was even only due or half a day late I was out with the tests and getting upset at the negatives.
Then at the end of May I realised that I'd been rather OTT with everything and was being somewhat impatient with myself and my body I decided to chill out.
We went on holidays and had a fantastic relaxing time. Got my period as soon as I came home so no magic was worked there but I had at least calmed down a bit.
Now when I actually have a reason to take a test I'm scared to.
Its amazing how much capacity we all have to hope isn't it:)

I second getting a clearblue test and trying again in a few days. When I went to my GP because I had had three positive tests he took my word for it and didn't do any test of his own. You can definitely get false negatives (I did for days) but not false positives. Best of luck - I have everything crossed for you!

My ovulation date (if the ap and my counting is correct was July 27th (was fertile from 22nd - 27th). Despite wanting to kill each other we managed to be tolerant long enough to do the deed on the 25th and 27th.

So if my ovulation did take place on the 27th then I am 20 days past ovulation if I'm correct?
My period was due August 7th so that would mean I am 9 days late.

I was in Tesco yesterday and bought two of their own brand tests (€5.75 for 2 compared to €28 for the Clear Blue Digital - maybe that was an OPK

) should I have splashed the cash

I'm going to try to wait another while before testing.

You're actually describing me almost this time last year. I gave up testing and tried to relax about it all, had a few drinks, even started smoking again (yes I know bad habit!). Fast forward 14 months and I'm here with a 5 month old.

We all need to hope and that's a good thing, juy don't let it rule your life.

By the way, the month where I finally did get my positive, was the one month where I didn't have any symptoms. That in itself was the telltale in hindsight!

Well it looks like hope tricked me once again.
I got my period this morning.
Sad about it as had really started to think it might have happened this time.
Anyhow going to remain positive (phaha positive) and keep on trying.
Have the appointment with my acupuncturist in the next week or so.
By this time next year I hope we've all had cause to meet up in on of the other parenting forums!

Aww..hard luck Penny! I logged on just to see how you got on with your first thing in the morning Clearblue test! If it's any consolation Aunt Flo just arrived for me today as well, just after I got a BFN

Can't help feeling gutted but am also very gutted for you after being over a week late - life can be a b&*%h!!!

disappointments are tough but as ya said start afresh for the next cycle!I find the acupuncture good,even if its just ta get to lie down for an hour uninterrupted!!

I went to doc yest for d 1st time to discuss ttc. She took blood samples & swabs and she's going to do a full screen : thyroid, diabetes, blood count, STIs, hormone levels. It'll be good to know either way if there's any physical impediment to trying to conceive.
She was talking about PCOS and she said the main symptoms are:
-tend to struggle with your weight
-more hair on your body
-acne
-irregularly long cycles

She said coz I have short as opposed to long cycles & none of d other symptoms that I most likely don't have that. She also said that coz I always (i.e. pre pill) had short cycles that's normal for me and isn't an issue (phew!)
Just posting this info in case it helps someone else.

Oh and the GP also mentioned she'll test to see if I was vaccinated against Rubella or not. Apparently those of us born between 1978 and 1985 (or roughly those dates) are the ones that didn't necessarily receive both MMR jabs when we were kids and so we might not be immune to Rubella (german measles). She said that measles/mumps aren't that serious if you get them while pregnant but Rubella can be so she said that if it turns out that I"m not vaccinated she will vaccinate me against it now. She said the only downside is that you can't ttc for 1 month afterwards :eek:

Having your immunity levels checked it a really good idea. I had mine checked last year when I mentioned to my GP that I was going to try for a baby after Christmas.
I was born in 1977 and wasn't vaccinated against any of the MMR illnesses and got them all. Thankfully my immunity levels were still high enough.
My aunt contracted rubella while pregnant with one of my cousins and his eye sight has been severely affected as a result. He was born in 72/73.
Getting the vaccine is very important.

No vaccine gives 100% protection. The MMR also gets a booster, which a lot of parents forget about.

I didn't get the MMR as a child, and got measles only. I got vaccinated as an adult later.

Hi Stickybean, I've been trying less than a year and I'm under 35 so in theory it's too early for me to be getting the day 3 and day 21 bloods done. However I will probably get them done in the next few months alright. In October I'll be a year off the pill and that's only a few months away.

My other half is going about getting his semen analysed now and he rang a GP (in Dublin) and was told that GP doesn't do it they can only give him a referral to a specialist clinic where he will get an appointment in 2 weeks. Is this normal? I thought GPs did semen analysis. Does anyone have any advice to share?

I know in 1980 and around that time there was a ''3 in 1'' vaccine which was commonly given. This was for whooping cough, diphteria & tetanus. I got this one, maybe your hubby's Aunt is getting mixed up with that one.

I got all the tests you mentioned and the day 3 and 21 bloods when we went to the GP (this was after a year TTC).

We got the semen analysis done in the Rotunda, the GP can't do this as it goes to a lab, the sample has to be received within an hour of being produced. I drove the sample in, but if possible it is better if it can be produced on site. Not sure where you are based but after lots of looking around, the Rotunda was the cheapest by far. You just need a referral letter from your GP

Hi All

I've been part of this forum for months now and although I haven't posted much, it has really helped me with my journey of TTC. It can sure be a lonely one, because although you know many other people are going through it, it feels like there is so much pressure on you, and your body to do what it is supposed to do.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know that after 8 (i think) cycles of Clomid, numerous hospital appointments, countless scans & lots of ovulation tests, I have now joined the Pregnant forum.

I wish all of you ladies the very best of luck. It will happen, it just takes a lot of patience and hundreds of ovulation sticks!!

A little moan from the weekend.
I was visiting my inlaws on Saturday and my sister in law was there with her two daughter (2 years old and 8 weeks) and it was both lovely (the 2 year old has a particular fondness for me, apparently we are "best friends" and she was on my knee the whole time) and really really hard.
I'm delighted for my sister in law that she has her 2 daughters as it was a tough road for her to get to where she is right now and thought she'd never have children. The fact that she does have 2 gorgeous girls should be of comfort I know but she is a few years younger than me. An aunt of hers was there too and her daughter is expecting her second baby again after many years of struggling. So again should be of comfort in the rational part of my brain...........that said there is a little bit of me that wants to throw the biggest tantrum ever and ask why not me/us.

Anyhow that won't do me much good. Have my acupuncture appointment tomorrow so here's hoping that things will happen soon.

So had my acupuncture appointment yesterday and felt great after it. Granted there is nothing new there I've always found it really relaxing:o

It feels really good to have taken charge of this in a positive way. Fingers crossed that things will change in a few cycles!!

Think it's because a good friend of mine is due her baby in the next few weeks... I'm so excited for her, but still

Its funny how you can be going along and doing ok on the pregnancy front and then all of a sudden it just hits you hard isn't it?
The funny thing for me is that its not little tiny babies that does it its more when I'm around the 18 month plus where they're toddling about and chatting away and lots of interactive fun.

Anyhow felt great after the acupuncture, was good to feel that I'd taken positive steps towards starting (hopefully) a family. Especially as I'm meeting a friend tomorrow for lunch and she is due her baby in October! She used acupuncture too so fingers crossed!

I'm going to see my friend tonight, who just found out that her IVF cycle failed. I honestly I have no idea what to say to her to make her feel better, as I know she will be utterly devastated?

Sometimes there is little or nothing to actually say. A hug, big pot of tea and nice dunkable biscuits and a listening ear is often the best.

Had this myself a few weeks ago.
My friend's first IVF cycle at the begining of the year was successful however tragically her daughter was found to have no heartbeat at 25 weeks, she did a second cycle in July but it wasn't successful.

All you can do really is listen & be there as they cry, vent whatever. So hard cos you feel so helpless.

Well 11 odd years later I am still here....

We finally figured out what seemed to be the issue and have treated that and are on our 3rd month officially trying again. Will be 41 this year... to be 31 again!!

Went up to the school today with DD and 3 of the mammies in our class were supporting bumps, bit shocked, they came over and asked me did I have one, mortified I said no not yet.

I'm slap in the middle of the two week wait - due Saturday or Sunday. I know we did the feed on the right days this month so fingers crossed. Have a horrible cold so not really feeling great, hopefully it's on it's way now - this is day 4
