Double congrats Neyite! I had a feeling you were going to be carrying twins.:D

For those of us still trying I found a link on the baby and bump site to this article published in the British Medical Journal some years ago. It found that only 30% of ovulating women ovulate in the week that they assume they will, days 10-17, even if they have perfect 28 day cycles. Most of us ovulate late or early. And there is no way to tell in advance if this month will be a late ovulation month for some reason or another, so assuming we will ovulate on certain dates could mean we miss our fertile window.

Oh Neyite, I'm crying tears of joy reading your posts here and in tLL :D:D

So so so happy for you:D

As for me, I was back at the doc's today. I'm doing great and I'm actually happy...going on anti-d's for a while is the best decision I've made in ages:)

I'm LOVING my course, it's hard work but I've a spring in my step:) Gonna give it a couple of months before we start trying again :)

Had my early scan this morning.
What an emotional morning!:) I had been doing my best not to be thinking too negatively or positively – on one hand I was scared that I have no symptoms and thought that I might have had a missed miscarriage, on the other I was thrilled to be finally pregnant, even if it had been for a little while, all the time trying not to stress either way. So you can imagine my head has been a right muddle for the last few weeks.

This morning’s scan was purely to check for a heartbeat and multiples and check the dating, however at this stage dates can obviously be here or there slightly. So the nurse explained that she would firstly check the heartbeat (and therefore put us at ease) then check the rest. It was a vaginal scan so no need for the full bladder, thank god

So, within seconds, she located the sac and showed us the heartbeat, and I started to cry with pure relief. Baby is measuring my dates exactly at 7w4d. Then she located another heartbeat....TWINS!!! The second little one is measuring 7w1d, and his/her sac is much smaller, but the heartbeat was good and strong all the same. Big twin is 13.25mm and little twin is 10.55mm. Both ovaries showed the corpus luteum, so progesterone is not a concern. Since they have their own sacs, they are non identical.

We are overjoyed, shocked, delighted, terrified, relieved – pretty much every emotion is running through us at the moment. My OH is totally lost for words and was in awe of what we saw on the screen. Its early days still, and everything in Gods hands, but so far, he is doing a decent job of keeping my little family safe. :D:D

I got the referral for the GP to start the ball rolling on my maternity paperwork, and I also have to notify my endocrinologist due to the prolactin issue, and have another private scan in 2 weeks to check on them.

OMG Neyite!!! Double congratulations to you and your OH :D how fantastic! I'm sondelighyed for you! Twins is amazing!

Congrats neyite. You must have gotten such a shock! Had you had any inkling that it might be twins? It may have taken some time but suddenly you will have you own little family. :)

I had my docs appt today and had day3 bloods drawn. Due to a gynae comp many years ago I've been referred to a specialist. Although I knew it might happen my eyes filled with tears when age told me. Filling again now as I type :(

Morning everyone. I'm posting in the April/May babies and in the TTC thread. Just looking for some advise really. I'm 10 and a half weeks pregnant and we told our families last weekend. Obviously they were all delighted, over the moon and it was great telling them. Later on that weekend we went out for a drink with my husband's Dad and sister. She is a lovely girl, turned 40 about two weeks ago and she has had some health problems in the past. She is going out with a lovely guy for about two and it seems to be going really well.

Anyway to cut a very long story short. She had a few drinks on her started to tell me that they have been ttc since last November. She had tears in her eyes my heart just went out to her. She was a little bit tipsy and was speaking a bit loudly about my husband's illness which I know would have really annoyed him if he'd heard her so I said that we should meet up for a good chat.

Only problem is that I rang her the next day and she didn't answer the phone. I hope she is not embarrassed now and that she feels that she shouldn't have said anything. Do any of you have any tips on how to go about bringing the subject up again? I don't want to come across as a know it all and I don't want to hurt her feelings of saying nothing.

Sorry for the long winded post. She has just really been on my mind this week. I was thinking of writing her an email to say if she needs a shoulder just to give me a ring.

Big Congratulations Neyite! Such wonderful news! :)

Custard Cream, I think email is a good idea, or even just a brief text saying that you understand how tough it is and are there for her. Then when she is ready she can come to you.

I have a question. Does anyone get period like cramps when they ovulate?

I did, I never noticed them until I started to chart my cycle but then they were so obvious when I knew what I was looking for. I usually didn't waste OPK's until I got those ovulation cramps because I knew they would be negative.

    Thanks MS2011.
Feel like the penney has just dropped!
Always thought I got really early period cramps (10 days or more before), but now realise this must be ovulation cramps! Normally when I feel crampy I throw in the towel for that month because Period is on the way!
Have to say I couldn't feel less like getting down & dirty, but definitely will be! DTD last night & will be again tonight.
    Feel a bit stupid.

Ah don't be hard on yourself, it's amazing how out of tune I was with my body until I started TTC. Now I feel every little twinge and tweak whereas before I didn't!!

I generally do get cramps around ovulation alright too, sometimes more of a darting pain, as uncomfortable as they are I appreciate them being there as they are an extra little indication that things are working :) Generally with the cramps, sexy time is the LAST thing I want to do but it's all for the greater good :P It's a tough job but someones gotta do it ;)

Girls any of ye taking evening primrose oil could ye tell me how much ye are taking? I'm very confused  The instructions on the capsules I have says to take 3-6 (bit broad you might say!) capsules per day.... I googled it and some sites suggest 1500mg which would be 3 capsules but given the instructions on mine I'm afraid of taking too little? I actually remember my mum taking these when I was young, must ask her why she took them, although she had no problems TTC it would be interesting to know....

Evening primrose oil (for the first 2 weeks of the cycle) 6x500mg, this is to give me extra cervical mucus and help ease my periods. (Which I will not be getting for a very long time, ok body!)
Pregnacare conception, 1 a day, this has folic acid, b vitamins and lots of other properties for helping get pregnant.
Extra iron (for my anemia) my doctor also suggested it would make my periods less heavy and stop my mid-cycle bleeding, which it seems to have.
Extra magnesium when I have muscle tension but it's a very good mineral for conception and early pregnancy.

Iguana you're brilliant, you had my question answered before I asked it.....oops! Ignore my rambling above, better up my dosage :)

Thanks Digs. In my defense, my cycles are so long! on day 24 now.

Think I may give AC a go next cycle if this one no good. Worked for MS2011.

Haven't used Even Prim or cough syrup or anything like that for cm, just use Preseed everytime.

    Hi Everyone!
I was a member of the forum before, couldnt remember my username so registered a new one as I figured I would just be in this section anyway.

We have been ttc just over 8 years now.
Told 2 years ago DH was azoo however it turns out now this is not the case, had 2 sa's in CFC and came back normal.
I have had internal scan and showed 5 to 6 follicles, had HSG and scan showed my tubes were clear.

As we have both been made redundant our circumstances have changed so CFC have referred our case to CUMH to see if we can go on the waiting list while we get ourselves sorted.
I know they are changing the qualifications for the free IUI's due to cutbacks which I understand and if it is cut completely I understand and we will just have to keep saving for IUI but feel I am getting too close to the wrong side of 30 to get our chance.
Anyway enough about the hardship's I know there are folks worse off than us.
We always wanted a big family however now would be so happy and grateful for even one little bundle of joy...

I hope I can get help and be helpful on this site and look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Longinforababy & welcome to the thread.

I don't have any experience in the procedures you're talking about but I know loads on here have. I'm actually in the process of reading back through the entire thread on my phone when on the train just to pick up bits and bobs & tips that may have come up. There may be something there that relates to you.

Best of luck! I'm the same in that I'd be well chuffed just to have 1 baba. Though I could see myself getting broody soon after birth!

Girls i came off ovarnette last month and I havent had a period yet. Am on day 40. Is this normal or could I be?
    We haven't been bring safe
    Annoyed
Edit: I came off pill around 23th august, had a withdrawel bleed on like the 3rd september. do i count my 28 days from this? im confused!
planning a baby is hard work!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,196 ✭✭✭crazy cat lady

I was on Ovrunette for 5 months there and only got my AF today after I stopped taking it about 6 weeks ago.

I would count day 1 as the first day of your withdrawal bleed, but don't be surprised if it takes a few months for your cycle to regulate after coming off the pill.

That said, if you haven't been careful, then you could well be pregnant.

    Good luck with TTC :)

Well got some OPK's the other day but because last cycle was 36 days, not going to start them for another week or so.

Does anyone know of a good iPhone app for tracking TTC? Free or otherwise?

Hi Mink, I got one called wcalander which I found great! It tracks your cycle and adjusts every month depending on if you're regular or not.. I wasn't & thought it was great! You can update your temp daily as well as any other signs eg CM etc.. It shows projected ovu times too! I got it for free :) best of luck x

CCL it's been a while hun, how are you?

Sorry you're out this month Grawns :( here's hoping for this new cycle!

Good luck to all the 2 week waiters x

The what to expect fertility tracker is ok. I'd take an opk every 2nd day or so just in case

I used the Fertility Friend phone app, but membership is not free, about €12 or so for 3 months, I found it excellent for tracking my 'all over the place' cycle though :)

Although I knew I wasn't pregnant I feel a bit upset for some reason.. Too inpatient and excited to wait.
