Does the box come with both enigma2 and spark installed? Depending on a few online shops it is suggested both are installed, one shop was charging an extra fee to install both?

    Thanks.

Spark is the officially supported firmware that comes on the box. Normally Enigma2 won't be installed although some online retailers may ship with it already flashed.

Enigma2 is not that hard to set up once you follow the tutorials online.

Am I correct saying I could install two images and have the option to select either one on power up?

Yeh that's correct, you can have Spark and Enigma2 on at the same time and they both operate completely separately from each other.

You can even boot to E2 while on Spark from the on screen menu in the latest update to it and vice versa on most E2 images.

Is there any obvious advantage over the Amiko Alien 2 plus box versus the Amiko Alien 2?

@ Hugoc69, there a post a page or two back form TheTechGuy saying he noted somewhere that there was issue with the wifi dongle & enimiga image - it may only work within spark.

The Plus has a DVB-T2 tuner for a terrestrial receiver as opposed to the DVB-T.
The T2 is backward compatible and is not (currently) required for Saorview, though may be at some future date.

there is no difference in the sat tuner

Is this a terrestial scan you're doing? If so you need to change to frequency from 6mhz to 8mhz

sorry for delay getting back, no a satellite scan, i have same issue on terrestial tried all the settings just gave up using it for saorview, but i need to rescan now as alot of the channels have moved

Might sound obvious but did you select satellite Astra28.2? Doing a scan should bring in the channels. Have you tried another box to rule out bad signal?

Do you have autobouquet plug in? Run that and it'll pull in all the updated channels.

So did you just scan the single frequency of your Known local transmitter ?

In case it's any help here's how I set up my Alien2 under HDMU for Saorview channels:

To configure the Tuner for Saorview...
    Tuner A:
    Configuration Mode: enabled
Terrestrial provider: Europe, Middle East, Africa DVB-T frequencies
Enable 5V for active antenna: off

To actually do the scan you go back to 'Manual Scan' under 'Service Searching'. Configure the scan this way...
Tuner Tuner A:Tuner3 (DVB-T) [With 'Tuner' highlighted press right arrow on remote]
    Type of Scan Single Transponder
Frequency [Go here for the frequency of your nearest Saorview transmitter. E.g: 666000 for Mount Leinster.]
    Bandwidth 8MHz
    Clear before Scan yes
    Only Free Scan yes

    Flex

    Thanks championc!
has development of OpenAR-P stopped? we had a contributor to the code on here for a while and he seems to have disappeared, there has been nothing released since March that I am aware of - shame to see it go.

It certainly appears to have died. I've no major issues thankfully which need any updates

    Hi champion,

I had HDMU installed and tried to install your image their now but it got stuck in boot, I was gonna reinstall HDMU but noticed it's in an "enigma2" Folder so I put yours in a folder called the same and it looks like it installed going by front panel on the Box as it says History/Eden and the like when I'm messing with the remote but I have nothing on the screen, no picture.

I only have the terrestial and 1 sat input at the min on a 720p TV, is this causing my problem as it's different than yours?

Do I have to delete HDMU from the box first, I tried to install over it as I couldn't find an option to delete it?

Edit:Mine is T2, would that matter?

My image was done on a HD 1080p with HDMI connection. So you will need to change to scart or a lower resolution.

Start up the box and once booted, press the following

    MENU
    DOWN
    DOWN
    DOWN
    OK
    OK
    OK

You will now be on the A/V settings menu. At this point, do either of two choices

    1. For Scart, Press LEFT followed by GREEN

    or

    2. For HDMI @ 720p, Press DOWN followed by LEFT, followed by GREEN

All good here so far. Another question though :-D I am looking to setup DynDNS on the new Vodafone VDSL Router. (Question has been posed in the BB forum). I can connect to the WebIF by addressing the box via IP:port, as I have port mapped, but streaming is still not possible. Now, I know 8001 is the streaming port, but don't know if this needs to added to the DMZ, or indeed if I need to do anything with it!
    Any ideas or suggestions?
