It happens on both. Spark and e2

You should ask someone to check the alignment of your dish and if maybe there is water damage/rust where the satellite cable(s) connect to the LNB on the dish.

As Flex has said it's almost certain to be a dish/cabling problem.

Have you any channels which are perfect all of the time ? If so, then it's an alignment problem or the dish is too small.

Anybody got permanent time shift working on championc's image?

Are u sure about a dish problem? I would understand that if all channels went but i always seem to have bbc hd and some selective others.

Receiving some channels and not others would point to a dish alignment or skew issue.

Have you tried swapping another box in to rule out a tuner problem on the extreme off chance?

No. Don't have access to another box. But shouldn't I lose all channels if the dish was the prob. Someone suggested changing mgcamd. What would that do for me?

No, you could lose some and not others depending on the misalignment.

Mgcamd is something we can't talk about on here, can I just clarify that it is FTA channels you are losing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 jor428

No i would lose a variety of channels including what would be described as premium channels like movies and sport.

Ah ok, it's not a dish problem so. Unfortunately we can't really discuss on here a solution to your problem, although mgcamd is your problem.

Cheers. Once I know I can try to work out what to do.

    Is that live pause?

It's where you can pause and rewind live tv too. Each time you change station it automatically starts recording a time shift but then over writes when u change station.

I'm currently running HDMU and I'm having a problem with HD channels. They work fine for about 5 minutes and then its as if the frame rate drops and the picture gets jittery.Changing channel and changing back again fixes the problem but only for a few minutes. Is there anyway to fix this?

This seems to be a known issue. See the above posting for a temp fix.

I was thinking it was a problem with the image I flashed.I'm having a problem recording as well,I can record on 1 channel but if I change channels I just get a black screen. The only channels that work while recording are fta

Yeh it's been a big issue on Enigma2 (all images) on non FTA HD channels for the last few months and unfortunately there doesn't look to be a fix coming anytime soon.

Spark is unaffected by it though.

It sounds like a cam issue which we can't go into any detail on here.

I was thinking that,I'll have to venture further afield for a solution.

I wonder might anyone know what build of HDMU released before the issue appeared? Prob worth flashing back to

You might have a point there. I don't remember the juddering when running on 10847 and I know I was messing about with clines since late Feb

I'm pretty sure I read it developed as Sky swapped channels over to a new satellite using the same frequencies, phasing out old transponders. It only seems to be the Sky HD's, it does not affect BBC's etc.

I only seem to notice it on the sports channels

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,463 ✭✭✭championc

OK, that makes sense since I was almost positive that things were OK at the end of last season when watching footie

It has nothing to do with the images changing, you can load on some of the first HDMU releases now and it will judder, it's down to Sky changing something with their transmission as they move to the new satellite. It seems to be only affecting boxes with SH4 chips on the E2 side. Although there are also reports that it's affecting some Sky customers on old Thompson boxes too.

Looks like a driver issue with the STi CPU - oh hum, time to tinker with Spark! :D

Oh I'm aware, unfortunately Fulan won't be looking at the problem any more so it's up to the E2 community to find a fix, which may or may not ever happen.

At least with the latest update to Spark it has a working EPG which makes it bearable, and the Spark side will really come into it's own when IPTV takes off shortly.

EPG Now/Next still very patchy, sometimes it works, other times you have to click into the channel. I was just going to fiddle with E2 on one of these boxes, is it worth the time? Last few comments kinda putting me off spending the hours.

I'm only looking for Basic sky level functionality.

    What will IPTV change?

I find the EPG almost perfect now, it downloads much quicker and displays the information straight away for pretty much all channels.

Are you on the latest update? If you're having problems with it I suggest doing a factory reset and deleting any crossepg data and it should sort it. There have already been a few reports with similar issues to yours and a reset solved it.

E2 is really very good, so customizable, much better EPG with a graphical display and not to mention the various plugins that make it so worthwhile. The only real downside has come recently with this judder issue on some non-FTA HD channels. Hopefully there will be a fix for it soon but no one is quite sure at the moment. Also you don't have to spend hours setting it up, there are lots of user backups you can download that take only minutes to flash and you have a complete working system then.
