    What ye think of:

    Mignolet
    Coleman Nastasic Ferdinand
    Bale Hazard Giaccherini Brady
    V Persie Bony Cornelius

    Shaw Colback Turner

Yeah went for Rio, have since taken him out for Mertesacker as suggested as Arsenal have a better start! Still undecided on my strikers, Anelka could be a good choice if he starts regularly

Surprised at the lack of love for Kevin Nolan. He usually starts the season pretty well. I guess the main problems for him is Miralles at just 0.5 more and Snodgrass at 0.5 less.

I'd like to have Miralles, but there are a few reasons why I'd go with Nolan:

    1. 0.5m cheaper
    2. Miralles has lots of competition with Kone (Martinez spoke about him in glowing terms), Pienaar (very important for Everton because of his brilliant link up with Baines - presuming he stays), Deloufeu (No chance that Barcelona would have loaned out of one their brightest prospects without assurances he will get considerable game time).
    3. Both Everton & West Ham have a nice run of fixtures. For Everton coverage, Kone is good option (can play up front or outwide). West Ham don't really have any forward options as Carroll is doubtful. Nolan & Kone maximises the favourable fixtures at the start.

Of course, all of these theories will be blown out of the water come GW1 when no doubt Miralles scores two against Norwich away, and Nolan gets sent off.

Why all the sudden love for Nastasic @ 5.5mill? Seems to me you could get Jagielka, Shawcross, O'Brien and even Bassong cheaper based on their performances last year. Surely more likely starters than Nastasic?

Natasic only really played half of last season and scored 80 odd. City will be very solid at the back and he should start everygame. He looked real quality and i expect him to score high.

Can anybody answer me on Kone if he took all the set pieces last season. He scored 140 last season and will have better service this season. He seems a better choice at 7.0 to me than RVW and Bony who are unproven in the league.

given the respective starts, a Chelsea, and in particular at least one City attacker, is paramount.

a team is a bit fail without them IMO.

Whilst I agree about Man City (although who to pick is a lottery!) Chelsea only have a good start if they have a DGW in Week 1. If not Weeks 1-6 will be Hull (H), Man U (A), blank, Everton (A), Fulham (H) and Spurs (A). Not nice at all, once the Hull game is out of the way.

Yeah the only attraction for me with City is Terry (because he is so cheap) and Hazard because he's a good price at £1m cheaper than Mata - who misses the first GW.

Getting a Chelsea attacker (I assume you mean striker?) like Lukaku/Rooney depends on them having a DGW. If they don't then it's not a great move, there are better options out there with better fixtures. If I did end up getting one of the above players they would be transferred out after GW1, and in that case you have to ask yourself is it worth it.

Thinking of down grading De Gea as I can't see United get any cleanies with the starting fixtures. I'm happy enough with the team and Waynama is a bit of gamble but worth taking. 0.5 m left in the bank and I would like some feedback.

Mertesacker if you want to stick with Arsenal. Nastasic from City is also 5.5m. Coleman is also 5mill at Everton, too.

Yeah I want to stick with an Arsenal defender and Mertesacker is probably safer. Thanks for the shout :)

Might put Nastasic in for Zab for the extra €0.5m. I think City will be better at the back this year. Pellegrini's Villarreal side were known for their 1-0's so a City defender could be a must...

City have a handy start and Hart is €6.5m

Ok, need some help getting the best value of my money...

    So far (3rd draft)

    Mannone, Boruc

    Baines, Nastasic, Mertesaker, Chico, Baker

    Miralles, Redmond, Coutinho, Paulinho, Routeledge

My goals probably letting me down...any suggestions???

    Van Persie (C), Lambert, Bony

    My latest draft.
Toying with the idea of using Hart exclusively for the season.
Anyone know of a 4 mill starting keeper?

Will mostly play 3-4-3 or 4-3-3

If Carroll gets some pre-season game time I will bring him in for Berbatov due to easier fixtures.

If Negredo is subject to rotation, I will bring in Sturridge.

Your midfield is weak. I would swap Paulinho and RVP for Bale and Negredo. I don't think Lambert will match last season's form so you could swap him for a cheaper striker, perhaps Anelka. I would downgrade Baines to Coleman and improve your sub defenders.

I think Koren is a better punt than Brady.

Also, you don't need a £5m sub keeper. Downgrade to Boruc and use the extra £0.5m to upgrade De Gea to Hart.

@F1ngers - I'm toying with the idea of Hart + a non-playing £4m keeper (there are none that start). Hart hasn't missed a game in years, and will play every league game barring injury. At some stage in the season one of the £4m keepers will likely get gametime so you can make the change during your Jan Wildcard.

@thalia13 - very weak midfield. Get rid of Baines and upgrade some players. Get rid of Paulinho and for the love of Jebus get Bale in.

I like this is a 'rate my team' thread but we never actually give ratings! I'm going to start giving figures out of 10, just for shits and giggles. Will be interesting to see how different people rate different playing styles.

    Up first F1ngers - 8/10
Very strong team, I can't stress enough how much I think Hart is the number 1 choice for FF this season. I'm still not sure if I can fit him in but if there's any way I can, even at the expense of a sub-keeper, he'll be in. Very solid back line and attack. The reason I didn't rate you higher is simply your midfield. I don't rate Jarvis highly at all, only 2 goals/2 assists last season and he played almost every game. Bellamy is a much better shout, if he plays. Coutinho is a risk but could work out, he's scoring in pre-season. If you can pull £0.5 from somewhere (Jarvis -> Koren?) you can upgrade Hangeland to Nastasic who should get far more points if he starts.

    Next up thalia13 - 4/10
You lose points immediately for not having Bale. He's a must have and I'll be a stubborn prick on this unless he goes to Spain! Defense is weak, even though you forked out for the most expensive defender! £7.5 is too much for Baines imo, especially if you have RVP. Ivanovic or Terry are cheaper, saving you a lot that can be used elsewhere. Chico - just no. Swansea have a bad start and he didn't even play every game last year, and got 0 attacking points. He's not worth close to £5m. Midfield is the weakest I've seen yet unfortunately! Mirallas is a good bet, maybe Coutinho. The three strongest midfielders atm are probably Bale, Walcott and Hazard... you have none of them! You should have at least 2, maybe mix Coutinho in for either Walcott or Hazard. And on your attack, I'd downgrade Lambert to a £5.5 like Cornelius or Anelka. If you have RVP you lose the luxury of having three 'big' strikers as you need to save the money to sort out your midfield.

Final one, as I'm on the way out for a beer

    almighty1 - 5/10
Not sure why you have Begovic when Mignolet is the same price? Also your sub keeper doesn't play, not sure I would risk this unless it was with Hart who seems to be injury proof! On that note, you have no City players. They have the easiest start, you should have at least one of their players, I would recommend 2 or 3. And then you seem to have put in 3 Liverpool and 3 Everton players. At least dump Distin and Whittacker. Also swap Colback in MF, there are better options at £4.5, don't simply pick the highest chosen one. Your attack is risky without RVP/Berbs/RVW/Bony/Negredo etc. But then again the top people after GW1 will be the ones that took chances...

Remember my ratings mean f**k all - will be interesting if others put their ratings up though and explain their thinking.

    Team Revision 2

    Mannone, Boruc

    Jagielka, Nastasic, Mertesaker, Chico, Baker

Bale, Redmond, Coutinho? Morrison (WBA), Boateng

RVP, Bony, van Wolfswinkel (or however its spelled)

If Bale is off to Spain then sure I can buy Navas and have 3million to play with

Still pretty weak. I wouldn't have Chico, Baker, Jagielka, Redmond, Morrison or Boateng in a team.

He has a slight knock so won't be playing tomorrow but they are hoping he will play on Saturday. Don't think it's much to worry about at the moment anyway.

All well reasoned. I suppose most people going for miralles and don't have room for another player in this range.

I like Nolan when West Ham have the fixtures where they are going for 3 points(like the start of this season) but West Ham can be really defensive under Sam in a lot of games and as a result Nolan can be really quiet

Everton under Martinez have a much higher attacking threat. (Martinez wasn't afraid of anyone, even with Wigan, and has an FA cup to show for it).

Nothing wrong with Nolan (only for the start IMO)though and you justified this in your post.

I have to question this. You've mentioned it in a few post I've seen, and I'm not sure at all that I agree. For me, Mignolet is a better choice, considering he's a million cheaper.

As a Hammer fan I'm trying to get one in somewhere - we're on tour at the moment and in todays match Jarvis had 2 assists(can't remember previous matches) and Joe Cole scored 2 goals a few days ago.
I reckon Jarvis will get more game time.
My only other realistic choices are Jussi(but I'd need to invest in a 2nd starting keeper) or Carroll and he's carrying a knock.

I've made this mistake before - trying to put in Villa players just cos I'm a fan. A lot of the time it just doesn't work (I had Darren Bent in at the start of last season - silly idea). I have 0 Villa players in my current draft.

Of course sometimes being a fan can give you an insight that others wouldn't have. Like the season I had Martin Laursen from the start when he had an epic season a few years also.

James Collins would surely fit the bill if you want a West Ham player? At 4.5 I don't see any reason why not.

Has Jarvis been looking more like the player he was at Wolves than last season? Could be another option in theory.

I would think he's first choice CB alongside Reid? I'm open to being wrong especially with wiki saying he only played 20 games but just have it in my head he will be.

    I don't think he is.
O' Brien, Reid, Demel and probably Rat will be back 4, I think.
Tompkins may even be ahead of Collins.

The only players guaranteed game time are Jussi, Nolan and a fit Carroll - the rest will be on rotation.
Noble, O' Brien and Jarvis will be used more than the rest.
