I've been keeping a close eye on this thread and have chopped and changed again.
I wish the season would just start already.
    Here's the latest offering:

Spent a bit of time tinkering with this.. :)

Is Mignolet Liverpools main keeper now? What happened to Reina?

Grand so I'll swap him out, thanks :)

Edit: Might put Jaaskelainen in there in instead..

    Danger781 - 8/10
Would have been a 9 but for some inexplicable reason you have Carrick in your team. 5 goals in the last 4 seasons, he is simply not an FF player, despite somehow doing OK on the new BP index. Swap Reina for Mignolet as you mention above, and change Colback. Maybe Carrick + Colback OUT, Koren + Bellamy IN.

    MugsyP - 9/10
Wouldn't really change anything here, very strong team. Obviously no sub keeper but this could be a common move.

I didn't see anyone better in the £6 range. :o

Swapped out Carrick for Morrisson, and ended up keeping Colback.

Why do you suggest removing Colback, out of curiosity?

Much better than before I think. First 11 is very strong. Personally I'd go with either Anelka or Cornelius, but having both is a risk.

I'd probably go Baines -> Coleman, which gives you an extra 2.5. You could upgrade Lambert to Negredo and have 0.5 left to use elsewhere, or upgrade Anelka/Cornelius to Berbatov/Kone and have 0.5 or 1.0 left over. I'd back Coleman & Negredo, or Coleman & Berbatov/Kone to outscore Baines & Anelka (who will be subject to rotation), especially considering it allows you to upgrade elsewhere too.

I'd swap Whittaker and Baker for two 4.0 defenders that will play more regularly. James Chester from Hull or Ben Turner from Cardiff. If they play, they might nab a few points with a bit of luck, rather than ones who don't.

    Thanks for that.

I'd like to try and hold onto Baines as he's a goal scoring defender, and was the top points scoring defender last season at 177, which is handy for building up points. Why do you suggest Coleman? He didn't have a great score last year, only 74 points.

Coleman was classed as a midfield last year so he wasn't getting clean sheet points

Fair shout if you want to keep Baines. He's guaranteed a great score. The reason behind suggesting Coleman:

May be wrong with this, but I think he was classed as a midfielder last season. That would greatly effect his points total, only getting 1 point per cleansheet.

Also, I think he has two different injuries and missed game time because of it.

This time around, he should have as much game time as Baines, and get the same cleansheet score as him, barring injury.

He had 5 assists compared to Baines' 7. That's pretty good considering played around 1200 mins less and Baines took all the set-pieces.

If Martinez goes for 3-4-3, he has out of position potential, playing on the right hand side of midfield.

I'm sure Baines will outscore Coleman, but I'd expect their scores would be more similar this season than any season before, and that 2.5m is a lot that could be used elsewhere.

Don't feel like you have to spend £6m. Go for Bellamy at £5.5 and use the extra £0.5 to upgrade Colback. He is a 2 point player, 1 goal and assist in 4 seasons. There is no reason that he is most selected £4.5m player other than the fact that he plays for Sunderland and is cheap. As more peopl epick him his % goes up until eventually he will be way above the rest, and for absolutely no reason. There are better options at £4.5m, and much better options at £5m.

    Amazeballs v2.0

    fo6E39G.png

    Put Jaaskeleinen in goal

Took out Carrick in favour of Morrisson.

Sacrificed Walcott and took Gerrard instead to save £0.5

Put Coleman in favour of Johnson to £1

With that £1.5 I bought van Wolfswinkel over Anelka. Wasn't overly happy with Anelka.

Yeah I prefer the first myself, although Nastasic didn't start today while Lescott did so may have that spot revised. My biggest problem is I'd rather have Clyne or a 4.5 defender rather than Baker as a rotation option. Otherwise I'm rather pleased with it right now. I could just chance Mig as my only keeper

Can't do the screen print thing so old-fashioned team sheet here. My strategy will be similar to every other year: panic after week three and use wildcard to pick players who flatter to deceive in the early season sunshine and exhuberance. After Week 12 I will look back and say 'Christ my week 1 team wasn't half bad, I should have stuck with it'. Or should I, what d'ye think?

    Foster WBA

    Kaboul Spurs
    Coleman Eve
    Ivanovic Che

    Michu Swa
    Bale (c) Spurs
    Walcott Ars
    Hazard Che

    Anelka WBA
    Lambert Sou
    Berbatov Ful

    Boruc Sou
    Garrido Nor
    Meyler Hull
    Figueroa Hull

I chose Gerrard over Michu because Swansea have some difficult games in their first few.. Man Utd first, followed by Tottenham away, followed by West Brom away..

    And Gerrard scored earlier today.

Michu scored against ManU in Old Trafford last season, not sure about the other two but I think the guy is class in any company plus I think Gerrard is 34 now? I think I would prefer Coutinho if I was going for a Liverpool player.

Coutinho looks good but at 9.0 that's just too much for my liking unless he turns into a points machine, surely he should be at 8 alongside Kagawa

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,804 ✭✭✭A Brad Maddox Guy

    Boruc/McGregor

    Azpilicueta/Evans/Garrido/Luke Shaw/Neil Taylor

    Bale/Navas/Brady/Ramirez/Pilkington

    RVP/Sturridge/Helenius

This will no doubt change a load of times before the start of the season. Helenius will prob be out since Benteke is staying at Villa now. Neil Taylor might not get his place back at Swansea since Davies did well last year but my guess is he will. So my team is a mix of really expensive players and dirt cheap players, foolproof strategy :P

The problem with Kagawa and all other Utd & City players is you just don't know if they'll play or worse, they'll get brought on with 10 minutes left. In Fantasy Football the money has to be on the pitch for 90 mins.

Coutinho was pure class for the first 60 minutes of any match he played last year, then Rodgers would take him off as he started blowing out his hole. With a full pre-season in him I expect him to be a real star this year. And that's coming from someone who is, lets be polite on this thread, not a particular fan of Liverpool. I might bring him in when Suarez comes back.

    First Attempt:

    Mignolet / Lewis

Nastasic / Mertesacker / Turner (NOR) / Coleman / Parr

Bale / Hazard / Walcott / Jarvis or Bellamy? / Dikgacoi

    Berbatov / Negredo / Bony

Changes, tips and advice all welcome :)

Nice looking team - I would pick Meresacker over Koscielny(did he pick up a knock? I may be mistaken).

Personally, I would downgrade Michu to Miralles, and put the extra 1.5 into your defence.

Sidenote: I'm sure he's bench fodder, but you can do better than Baker I think. Villa have a sh1t start, and he's not a guaranteed starter.
