    hold on a minute

what good is thursday lunchtime to anyone who works or who does not live in Dublin?

Nothing personal, but there are more than 50 people in Dublin with time on their hands wether on the lunch break or with, you know, more time due to "effects of the recession".
This is not a city vs country thing.

Pretty poorly supported, max 50 bodies. Was being run by people before profit and the socialist workers party as far as I could tell.
Very disheartening to be honest. I'll still go to whatever other ones are organised and hope that more people will start to get up of their knees.

It seems perfectly acceptable that these boys drink at work with their bottle of merlot. Surely these people with their responsibilities shouldn't be intoxicated at work

Yeah what happened to all this talk of a tape today with a politician on it? And the one to be released midday? Its almost 3pm! What do the Indo think midday is exactly?

About the protests, they need to hold one when most people aren’t working, and advertise it more. Remember a lot of people have to work 2-3 jobs these days because of these feckers, its not always easy to find the time.

What id like to know, does the government have the cheek to increase taxes and load more charges on us this December now that this has come to light? They would want to have an even bigger fecking neck to try that now! Surely then we would all have to get off our arses and protest.

Apologies for grammar, in work , shouldn’t be online, writing quickly :P ha

    a

That was just a wild rumor by the looks of it. Paul Williams, the lead journalist on this story, stated the following this morning on Morning Ireland when asked whether any politicians would be featured in the tapes either directly or indirectly.
No there is no direct reference to any politician, and to be fair to the politicians what clearly comes out of this Cathal is that we had civil servants who weren't particularly good at their jobs and these guys had no respect for them. We have maverick bankers, and these guys are all getting together and these are the people ... this group of people ... civil servants and bankers ... this what Brian Lenihan and Brian Cowen were depending on at the time to come to crucial decisions which affected everyone in this country

You can listen to it here, specifically the last minute of the segment.

Hope you don't work for Bank of Ireland and using your work computer inappropriately...... otherwise you might be given the opportunity to resign and walk off into the sunset with a huge pay off.

Oops maybe not....... if you're just an ordinary bank pleb, you'll just get sacked and no pay off.

The other is just for porn browsing chief executive types.

Re Dearest David, he tried and hung himself with his own words from his own mouth. Re the others saying that the tapes were misunderstood, when they went down to the Central Bank afterwards and played their cards as per the taped script tell's the truth of their actions and deeds. They actually tried themselves honestly without realizing it.

That's what I read on Twitter last night. Seems to be someone who got some wires crossed or someone stirring trouble. I don't know.

Someone wrote that earlier in the thread, that there was another tape due at midday.

There'll be another tape tomorrow, maybe another on sat or Sunday and maybe more next week and that was on VinnieB Tuesday night.

Much and all as Drumm is a horrible cnut he had the clowns in the Dept of Finance and Central Bank eating out of the palm of my hand.

He effectively called their bluff on the €7bn loan. "Give me the money or you will have a huge bank failure on your hands". They effectively shat their pants at the fear of being caught out with a banking collapse (Anglo) due to poor regulation.

In effect the whole banking system in Ireland collapsed because of them, I'm pretty sure AIB and BoI were heaping on the pressure in the build up to the bank guarantee as well.

****ing clowns the lot of them and no matter how many times you change the government or ministers, the senior civil servants will still keep their jobs.

The pity for me is that it is only the loony left that organize these events. I really would not want to hang around with that lot.
If a non-political party organized protest was held I would be a lot more likely to attend.

And as said previously - doing it on a Thursday?
There were 80-100,000 at the first anti Iraq war protest in Dublin on a Saturday in 2003.

In 2004 had a good large crowd (not sure how many, but seem to remember about 20,000) at the anti Iraq war march in Dublin, held on a Saturday afternoon/evening.
I still have a sore knee from when the water canon toppled me off the wall on the navan road!
