You get the low battery warning but say that this isn't the issue - are you sure? I was getting this and replacing the battery sorted the issue immediately.

Thanks KAce. I'm sure the battery is giving the warning alright (and replacing it *should* shut it up)

The issue is that pressing "status" doesn't "clear" the situation - it gives the 5 warning beeps in another minute. And another. And another. And another. And another........

I was wondering if there was a way to "silence" the panel itself, i.e. stop the beeps. We don't use the alarm, and its a rented house - so fixing the problem isn't really an issue for me, but the constant beeping is!

    Thanks,
    M.

    Hello,

I am hoping for someone's expertise to try and get this alarm of mine to stop beeping at all hours of the morning, I have young kids and they wake up terrified to the loud beeps of the alarm!

I have an Eircom Phonewatch Euro Simon Security System installed since 2002, recently I got the system low battery message and thanks to this thread and everyone's advice and help I have replaced that and everything there is ok, so far so good.

    Problem:

I'm getting the System phone communications failure error, the system is not monitored anymore and the unit has been disconnected from the phone line, can someone help me please to stop the unit giving this failure error and beeping at night and during the day? The only paperwork I have is the user manual for the Simon panel and the NSAI completion cert, user access code, but no engineer code. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Baz.

Well, for the princely sum of €6, I bought a replacement sensor head and it seems (touch wood) to be working ok now. Better than €110+€86 which PW would have charged for engineer visit + replacement sensor; that's assuming they'd replace the entire unit, and sure why wouldn't they.

Very great thanks to Altor and Thunderbird2 for your help.

Good to see you got it sorted. Some difference in the actual cost for the repair.
Another thing to note reading your posts is the system itself did not need to be defaulted. If you have any other issues with the sensors please check the sensor head as I advised. Most of the problems turn out to be the head rather than the sensor itself ;)

Hi hope someone can help with this.

We have a Concord alarm system, pic of the control panel below, and we've cancelled the Eircom PW and it's not connected to a phone line anymore so we just want to use it unmonitored. Eircom said they could send a technician out to stop the alarm from dialling out and get rid of this 'System phone trouble' from constantly sounding off but of course they want us to pay a fee for this. Is there any way I could do this myself, I have the engineer code just need instruction on how to stop it trying to dial out?

Yes, press 8. Enter the engineer code then press 00.
This will bring you into Engineer mode.
Go into phone options and delete the phone numbers.
Then scroll to phone options and turn off the phone test.
This will leave it as a stand alone unit.

The only way is by fixing the fault on the system.
Replacing the battery in the main unit if it is saying system low battery is your only option. It is a 12V 2.1amp battery. It can be got in any of the suppliers here.

Any other problems let us know.

If you first try drop the lid and enter 54321. It will say please select from start menu. (if not just close up the lid)
If the engineer code was set up incorrectly it will allow you delete option 04, 05 and option 06.

You can request the code off P.W if the system is in your name.
You will need this to delete the phone numbers to stop the system trying to ring out. Another option is to have the system defaulted and reprogrammed.

It may not be the main engineer code.
If it is it will allow you delete the options.

    Enter engineering.
    Press delete, option, 04, done.
    Press delete, option, 05, done.
    Press delete, option, 06, done.

If it allows you delete these options then close up the lid.

With ref to post #625, thanks for your response, it was much appreciated.
We took down the sensor to see the battery and were able to get a replacement a couple of days later in Radionics.
But the orange light isn't going away, even after pressing reset.
On pressing the status button, messages are as follows:
    status off
motion sensor tamper and time stamp
master control phone trouble now ok
trouble motion sensor control now ok
sensor battery trouble change battery now ok.

So we go through listening to all that, press reset and nothing changes, still get the same messages a few hours/days later.
Is there a reset button on the sensor that we missed, or something else? Have photo of sensor if it helps.
    Thanks again!

    Hi,
My Simon alarm says sensor 2 patio door open when I try to set it. But the patio door is not open. The manual says I need to reset the sensor but it does not say how to do this. Any ideas.

    Thanks for your help

Sounds like the reed is gone .
but try reset it ,open the sensor remove the battery and short the terminals with some wire in the sensor then replace the battery .
Pop down the panel lid and enter your code before you remove the sensors lid .

    Hi Altor,

I just came across this thread and am very glad I did. I would very much appreciate if you could PM me on how to get the engineer code for a concord phonewatch unit so that I can have it dial my mobile when the alarm activates.

    Regards and thanks,

No it is referring to a tamper condition on the sensor. Open and close the sensor again to try clear the fault.

If the reed is gone to save you buying another one just delete the sensor, turn off switch 5. Now take a sensor off a window and delete this two. put the window sensor on the door and turn on switch 5 to enable the reed and put the sensor with the broken reed onto the window. Learn the sensors back in with there respective name ;)

    Hi ray,
My eircom Phonewatch alarm is beeping too during the night after my dad turned off electricity to fix a light.. It's driving me mad, please advise how to fix?
    Thanx

Sounds like you have a simon panel installed. The beeping is the panel as it has a low battery and the time is not set. You must of had a power cut in the area. The battery in the panel may not need to be replaced. I will send you a pm with the info you require to get the alarm fixed.

Hi can any body help me? I have an Eircom Alarm system and a while back it kept telling me that one of the sensors had a low battery. I replaced the battery and fitted back on the cover, but it kept saying that the tamper was on and it kept setting the alarm off.

I managed to bypass the sensor, but i would like to get it all working again. I dont have any Engineers codes or instruction papers and I am not sure how to clear the whole system back to the start mode. Any Ideas or help. It is a Wireless system and it was installed in 2001. Thanks..

    Hi all
Im renting a house with a eircom alarm. Recently started to beep every 12 hours and when pressed "i" it said gsm status system communication failure. I have been reading through these posts and thought i had found the answer from a post by ALTOR the Yoda of alarm systems. Im not sure what i have done but it dosent beep at 6am/pm but now instead at 12am/pm. The message doesnt say system communication failure anymore too. So before i go and mess it up further can i ask please how do i fix this for good. I have a Simon XT.

The only way to fix this is to delete the monitoring stations numbers out of the system. You can then set the system up to ring you for self monitoring.

Hi altor thanks for the reply. Can i please ask you how do i go about doing this. I have no clue as i proved when i tried to fix without asking somebody first. My system is no longer connected to a phoneline.

    Hi F U B A R,

You need to go into engineering to delete them in communication. Phones numbers. If you dont have the engineer code send me a P.M. More than happy to help you get it sorted.

Hi all (and Altor), my Phonewatch Concord Alarm (pic in post #51) has started to become temperamental. Basically once armed (generally at night), the alarm will trigger and will always report from a particular sensor downstairs and I then have to go down and disarm - very annoying.

    Here is some additional history

    - The main 12v system battery inside the control panel was replaced about 2 year ago
    - This particular sensor was replaced with the identical Aritech unit about 1 year ago and has been working fine
    - The batteries in the sensor were replaced over the weekend, but it still happened last night.

My next port of call will be to go around swapping the sensors themselves to see whether this makes any difference, i.e. whether the fault is travelling with the sensor, or whether this could be a more sinister control glitch within the panel itself (which would seem strange to me).

Any other ideas as to what I could try welcomed !!

    Thanks.

    Hi Kace,

I would take the sensor head out of the detector and join the two cores in the sensor together to rule out the detector itself. If this works then all you need to do is replace the sensor head on the sensor.

Also, when you look inside the sensor, what way are the dip settings configured?

My Eircom Alarm is model no 60-911-10

Its beeping last few days with low battery seemingly.- even though its connected to mains , and don't use batteries .

Eircom say the battery is necessary and needs replacement . Cost battery €40 and call-out fee € 110 .

Do we have any other options other than above ?

They would like you to think they are unique.
Shop around & you'll get them. Try the suppliers sticky. . If you getting it yourself bring the old one with you.

I guarantee that these guys will have the battery that you need. http://www.batterycity.ie and it will be relatively cheap + delivered to your door within days. Don't even think about purchasing from Eircom.

If it's the System Battery that your unit is complaining about, this will be a large 12v unit inside the main console - this is required in order to keep your alarm going in the event of a power cut. Replacement will probably cost you about €20 shipped.

Let us know how you get on.

Still using it but might be time to upgrade. Just want to see if I can sort out a few probs with it before taking a new plunge. Keep up the good work. There's always someone in need.

Moved into a a house recently that has an eircom phone watch Alarm. I'm not paying to have this monitored as its too expensive. However it's my understanding that there isn't a bell/siren that can be heard outside the house when the alarm is triggered.
Does any one know if the alarm is ok for insurance purposes? And if not , is it easy enough to get an alarm bell/siren fitted so that it can be heard outside?

The alarm was fitted in 2005 & it's a SIMON system.

    Thanks

If the system is not monitored and just on your insurance as a working alarm then you should be ok but check with your insurance company to confirm.

A 6V SABB can be added to the system. This system can also be set up to ring your phone in the event of an alarm activation instead of P.W..

Me again! Your previous help with my battery problems was much appreciated - I clicked the "thanks" when we had happy green lights all round again back then :D.

Minor panic here because we've just switched to UPC for our phone, and since the EircomPhonewatch (old Nynex box) is no longer monitored I had never even thought about the alarm till I started reading the small print on the porting form.
We used occasionally to get a warning light flashing for a line fault but once I hit the reset button it would go green again.
I presume we'll get this orange alert light again once our current landline provider ports the number to UPC - and it won't go green again...???
What's the best/cheapest way to have the box disconnected from the phone?
    Thanks in advance.

You could wire the UPC into the phone points around the house

    Thanks for the suggestion.
It's bit beyond our limited capabilities, though, and presumably it would still require working with the alarm box :o, which I definitely don't feel competent to do.

Take a look here & see if it helps.
If you get the line into the existing Eircom sockets there should be no need to go near the alarm as it will already be connected to those lines.

You are not going to get any benefit from connecting the UPC to the alarm as when it tries to communicate with P.W you will still get the same fault.

Simply press program, enter your user code, press 71 then press reset.

Hi I managed to get phonewatch to stop monitoring my alarm but it now beeps every few hours to tell me there is phone trouble, I know from reading here that it's the alarm trying to make contact with phonewatch, but I'd really like it to stop. Is there any way to stop it? The letter I received from Eircom after ceasing the service said that they would have to send an engineer out to "disconnect" the alarm and that there would be a "fee". The alarm is a concord but when it was installed I was given the password only not the engineers code and the paperwork went missing a long time ago. I'd really prefer not to have to pay to fix this problem, after all it was lack of funds that made me stop the monitoring in the first place...Any suggestions would be great thanks!

I'm getting an eircom phonewatch alarm install. This might be a silly question, but how do they bring power and telephone to the alarm panel. Is it surface mount?
