It is an easy job to do yourself. Very easy battery to get on the suppliers list also. It is a 12v 2.2 Amp battery. Turn off the mains. There are two screws. One on the top and one on the bottom on the right side of the panel. Open these the lid will come off towards you from the right. The battery is located in behind the keypad, to get at it you will need to get a screw driver and prize the top to release the keypad. Is will come down from the top. Release the battery terminals and replace the battery.

Very easy to do yourself, any problems let me know.

Thanks a million, you're an absolute gentleman, I'll try it.

I presume the alarm wouldn't go off and lock itself in a frenzy or something like that if I tamper with the panel? In other words, this operation won't trigger anything that requires involvement of Eircom Phonewatch themselves?

    Hi folk.
I've disconnected my landline and now my "telecom eireann" phone watch model is complaining in a very loud voice every night.
    "Phone call failure"

Is there a way to mute it?

    Thanks!

    Very old system RebelButtMunch.
Press program, enter your user code, press 71 then press reset.

Your welcome, always happy to help.

The alarm will activate but putting in your user code will turn it off.

No sure if it was asked before but I have a Simon XT.
When i set it at night its very loud. I normally use the key fob to set it from the bedroom but its extremely noisy. I am just afraid if I turn down the volume for setting it will it be very low when its activated.

That volume will have no effect on the alarm activation volume.

    hello all,
dont think that this has been asked before but the red & green light on the power supply (think thats what it is) are both out. They are the lights for Main Power & DC out - the alarm is working perfect though. Can alarm the house and it went off when I opened a door so not too sure what those lights actually mean.
    Thanks

GSM ? There is a fuse where the mains goes in this that could of blown, also the battery could be gone dead.

Hi guys. Anyone know where I can buy the sensors for a phonewatch alarm. Its the same as pictured in post number 301. Eircom want €85 for them each. Its just a normal window sensor, not with a contact. Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,643 ✭✭✭✭altor

Very old system that no new parts can be got for.

A Concord upgrade, although I would not recommend it, is the cheapest option as it can use the sensors off this system plus RF433 wire free sensors.

What system are you looking to set this up on ?

It is no longer monitered so I want the alarm to phone me if it goes off, I have seen from previous postes that this can be done but I need an Engineers code to do this.

I got that from your other post. The panel type helps :D

If you have the paper work off the alarm send me a P.M.
More than happy to help you get it working. Don't post any details here.

Our lovely concord phonewatch alarm (disconnected) is now giving out about a sensor at 3:30am every night!!!!

It activates all the bells and complains about "Senor 3 Upstairs Laundry Room".
Goes away when deactivation code is entered.

Does it indicate that the battery in one of the impact sensors (there are 3 there) is going? They are wireless sensors from what I can see, small white boxes. Can I either bypass the sensor, turn it off or replace it / replace the battery on it? Or do I need to get an alarm specialist to do it?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

I appear to be yet another frustrated Eircom Phonewatch inheriter.

Bought a house and can't get the engineers code for the following alarm.

Could I get some help please.

It sounds like the sensor is gone faulty as if it was the battery the control panel should give this as the fault. From your explanation of the sensor it is a 313RF device. These are old sensors that are used in conjunction with the 313 receiver on concord upgrades of the older systems and cant be replaced.
You can get a 433RF sensor and add it to the concord panel if you have engineer access to it.

Hi there, anyone else out there set up their Concord Phonewatch alarm to phone yourself rather than the monitoring station ?

If so, how do you manage to disarm the alarm once it phones you. I have a very hard time getting the alarm to actually stop phoning me once it has been triggered.

Basically, I carry out the following steps :

    1. Alarm triggers and phones my mobile
    2. I answer phone, wait for audible tone on line to stop and then press '*'
    3. Phone up the house - 2 rings
    4. Wait 5 seconds and phone the house again - system picks up
    5. Enter # then security code to disarm alarm and reset as appropriate.

Only problem is by the time I get to step 4 the unit tries to phone me again, so it either prevents me from ringing the house, as it's already using the line, so I just get my eircom voicemail box (as the line is busy)

Anyone out there know how to :
    a) slow down the frequency of the calls that the alarm makes to you by tweaking some setting
    b) configure the number of times it calls you - at present my alarm will phone me about 40 times in a row once it triggers
    c) dial back into the alarm successfully without the problem where the alarm is immediately trying to call you back

    Any help appreciated !

Have you got the phone number programmed in the domestic dialer and not the CS ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 848 ✭✭✭Kace

Good point, I'll check this as I could well have it in one of the CS locations as well.

I actually had to completely power-off the alarm last night as I also have the system low battery warning at present and have ordered the Yasua NP2.3-12v replacement unit from batterycity.

I'll update here after I get to retest.

The CS is for the monitoring station. The Concord can only take one number for the domestic dialer.
A beeping alarm can be a pain but this battery will keep your system going if the mains is off so is a must to replace.

I bought a house a few years back that has a fully-functioning eircom Phonewatch system installed. However, we never bothered to follow-up with the alarm monitoring so don't use this element of the service (just use it as a standard, stand-alone alarm).

I have friends with alarm systems that dial their mobiles if alarm is activated, and would like to install something similar on my system.

I get the impression that I need to interact with eircom in order to do this, however I was left no paperwork or anything with the alarm (I don't even know which zone is which).

Also, I have recently switched my phoneline to UPC, and the alarm panel is showing a "system fault" since then (presumably because it can't see a phoneline any more).

Can I just get a regular alarm guy in and he'll be able to set something up using my system, or do I need to chat with eircom?

    Thanks

All depends on the system you have installed. If you can post a picture or find it in this thread to let me know what system it is. Always handy to have the engineer code off the system but if not it should be easy enough for an alarm engineer to default and reprogram the system for you.

Yes, if you did get the line turned off then the system will report a line fail as it is still trying to contact the monitoring station with the test call. This in turn will give a fault on the control panel.

Most of the wire free systems they use have a voice dialer built in that can be connected to the UPC to ring your phone.
