There are a few variations on each.

The cheapest grenades and the ones you buy on sites up the north are just a fuse and a container in the shape of a grenade full of peas. It's surprisingly affective! Scary when one lands beside you. Illegal down here though as they're fireworks.

Then there are more technical ones that are filled with gas and have loads of little holes that fire bbs out of them.

There are even claymores and tripmines which you fill with hundreds of bbs.

Some shotguns only fire one bb, others fire a spread of three or so. You can even get ones which you load say three bbs into a shell, insert the shell in like you would a real shotty and then the shell will eject when you pump it after firing.

Obviously cant really play a game with one of them in a woodland, but cool all the same!

They have CO2/green gas grenades and they are completely legal here.
Most people put talc powder and BB's in them.

Totally , I'd a load of Action force stuff, had a feckin RoboSkull (basically Palitoy used the leftover TIE fighter parts and stuck them inside a Blood Red Skull ship) which I'd love to have on the wall of nerd toys , but sadly was "thrown out" years back.Never seen one on ebay either. That and the little brothers Manta Force kit(although thats too damn big for the shelves!)

GASP! Does this mean that Ata is no longer dependent on booze...and naughty thoughts regarding Sera?

It is common knowledge that Atavan loves Pokemon more than anything, even drink.
Otherwise he'd be in the wrong forum.
A drunk, non retro gamer us just called a drunk and tend to have usernames like G1nsponge, WetmeselfAgain or rhuikvbv (because they were too p1ssed to type!)

I've decided there's too much snow for me to drive as to do so would be dangerous in a rear wheel drive vehicle so I'm not leaving the house.

Now where did I put that ds......

I had times yesterday when I was at a loose end, so I played some 3DS, and a some OoT 3D at that, now in the Fire Temple, I have never gotten this far before, something else sparkly would always distract me!
Now, I'm at home and have simply too much choice.... more of those damn 1st world dilemas!
Still, it was pretty gratifying to see the kids playing 2 player Puzzle Bobble on the cab over the weekend, and mix it up with some Nintendoland gaming as well.

College really is the time to find you niche in terms of what things you like most to do instead of work.

Argh, stick with the one game! Finish OOT and then move on! :D It's the only way of dealing with having too much choice.

If you want some variety, then play arcade games or other pick up and play things on the side...but no long games!

Awh, I can imagine alright. If there's one way of melting the missus in relation to the cab it's to get her to see how much the kids enjoy using it.

Starcom was one of the greatest toy lines of the 80s. It did okay, but not nearly as well as it should have. I reckon it's because it did the whole space thing a little bit too realistically.

They really should have pushed the no batteries needed line more. I'd say parents would have been all over that. :) All the moving parts are mechanically driven...lots of mine still work.

The magnets on their feet and on the ships though, that was just inspired. I used to love walking them up the fridge :D

Because of the realistic factor, they got a bit of a cult status among collectors and now some go for silly money.

I was also a big Action Force Kid. When I was about 6 or 7, my parents bought me Rolling Thunder for Christmas. Was the coolest thing I'd ever seen!!!

    Giv88-7l.jpg

If that wasn't enough, my grandparents then dropped over with this

    93_m.jpg

Manta Force was the year after I think? I got the Black Barracuda along with one of these

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTAQPISk3RM50pANzBE1AU9WLpPnhLEwKD0CQdVDR8u-ecXGLKRPg1iMoR-

Looking back, I really was feckin spoiled rotten with toys!

Then there was the great garage sale of 95...I sold everything. For peanuts too. :(

I used to collect M.A.S.K. stuff. Had a massive collection of them until a few years ago when my mum decided to do a clear out of her attic and reduced it by about 60% in one fell swoop.

She doesn't get the whole "retro collectibles" thing. To her, if it's old it's junk. Unless it's something like the 17 artificial christmas trees or any number of old record players, radios, VHS recorders, etc she's got up there for "safe keeping". You can't throw that stuff out, because "you never know when someone might need it"

I've used the cartridge based thunder B's from MIA a fair bit. Very handy for getting people out from behind cover or clearing rooms, just like in your favourite generic FPS game :D.

When they blow they have a nasty habit of obliterating the entire shell except for the bit that screws into the threads. That bit gets well and truly stuck in there and it's impossible to screw back out without the rest of the shell to grab on to, which means your "re-usable" grenade is knackered. I messed up a couple of them that way before i gave up spending money on them. Lots of fun in a game though. Very useful.

My brother got the mobile command centre as a kid as well for Christmas. I remember that christmas well because I never heard so many swears out of my dads mouth before as he tried to put that thing together.

One of those toys 'inspired' the design of the creatures in Project Firestart:

Yeah, I'm amazed it didnt catch on! It was really gruesome aswell for a cartoon back then...which it what everyone loved and wanted. Plus the figures were great and huge!

Off topic, but in relation to HMV vouchers, the UK administrator has just said (via the media) that HMV UK will be accepting vouchers again from tomorrow and honouring debts to charity groups for Christmas singles etc.

No word yet on Ireland. Fingers crossed we'll hear something similar soon.

I'd say the Irish stores will remain closed but you may be able to use the remaining credit on the vouchers up north.

So...sort of a bomb? I mean, January tends to be a slow month and all.

My demo impressions were that it wasn't for me but it doesn't really deserve to bomb either. Ninja Theory seem to be sales poison.

Which Pokémon are you playing? I'm currently juggling LeafGreen and White 2, with a side of Diamond. It's leaving me with little or feck all time fore other games.

The new devil may cry looks very flashy but I'll be waiting until its around the €20 mark or less to get it.

Playing black 2 as I bought it on release but never actually played it since then. Got the Japanese version of white 2 when it came out and finished that so it's nice to now understand the story :P

I have a new goal, I've been buying some toys and stuff recently

I now wish I collect the entire visionaries toy line, only 12 figures and 3 vehicles. Nobody else here is really into collecting toys are they?

I had a couple of them when I was younger. I threw one into an oak tree in the park and it got stuck. I remember crying for ages about it, very stupid child I was. I also melted a Skeletor figure in the fire. He-Man defeated him and threw him in the fire, the bollix!
