Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mine was muck too during the day of the update but charged it last night an with some pretty heavy downloads over 3g and WiFi, it lasted pretty well.

JB was a big download and the processor was no doubt churning full throttle during the upgrade.

I'll give it a week and see how the thing holds up.

Took à few days but mine is back to normal now.

Lads, I cracked the digitizer on my HTC One X . Apparently it is very hard to replace the digitizer only so it looks like I have to replace both it and the LCD screen.

I have been quoted a price of 155 from a place in Cork and this is obviously alot of money for me with the risk of ungenuine parts but I've heard it would be alot more to go through HTC themselves.

How did people here go about getting their phone fixed? Would I be foolish to attempt it myself?
    Thanks

I unlocked my bootloader on my HTC One X recently and today got an automated update from Vodafone - I assume its the JB update. I downloaded it, but when it should have started the installation it went into Clockwork recovery, where I searched for newly downloaded zip file, found it in the \download folder, try to run it, but got an error message that a signature was not recognised and the installation was aborted?
Any ideas what to do - can I get the same file in some other form from somewhere else, or is there a way to install the current update into my phone?

Stock recovery, grab and flash it :) You can try and turn off signature checks in CWM but you'll still get E: error because of something else :P Try and see though!

155 sounds suspiciously cheap to me. There's a lot of poor quality knock off floating around for the one x display. Getting a genuine display seems like something of an ordeal as well and the cost is such that you might as well opt for HTC to fix it. I'd be fairly handy with electronics but wouldn't try to replace the digitizer on it.

Thanks, fairly easy process - have now 4.1.1 Android with 4+ sense - nice Christmas pressie!

This is their page if anyone wanted to know:

    http://repairit.ie/

They have come with some recommendations from people on Boards.

It is supposed to be damn near impossible to seperate the LCD and digitizer it is so heavily glued together.

I could ask them what parts they will be using? Wouldnt want to pay 155 for a cheap alternative now would we!

I upgraded my One S to JB yesterday, its unbranded and unlocked, I'm on o2.
Since I upgraded I cant use my wifi connection anymore :(
It says its connected in the settings screen the wifi symbol shows up and has full bars but I can't view any websites or use my email or playstore. I have turned the phone off and on again, forgotten the wifi network and reconnected it, I also used the 'wps' option on the phone and router but still no joy.
The mobile internet works fine though, any suggestions?

Try doing a factory reset. Seems to solve many of the problems that people have had following this upgrade.

I think the problems is, while its a good phone people are being swayed by the s3 as as an all rounder its a better phone imo. I wound up keeping my one x while the s3 sold no problem at all.

I'm over in Germany for Xmas with herself.
My simfree 4.0.4 One S, currently on Three, went into a reboot cycle and I had to do a factory reset. Got it onto wifi in Starbucks to restore my data and got the 4.1.1 update. All went well. Back in Ireland tonight so should be able to test it out properly.

This. I'm trying to push the whole tegra is good for gaming, but it's still odd that on ebay I can't get rid of one for 330, it really shows how the s3 has beaten it :pac:

no, but i've got one of these battery packs that uses the pogo pins on the back of the phone and it works a treat charging it, i'm never in the same place long enough for a cradle to be worth it for me though.

I think that is more down to bettr markteting by Samsung than anything else

Just for fun I ran quadrant on my One S, which always appears to punch above it's weight due to the lower resolution screen. I don't have a screen shot saved for 4.0.4 but from memory it was just ahead of the One X, as seen in the online database. What's interesting if the effect of the new power saver, not to mention the crazy high score without it.

I'm sure there is an element of that also. But the far better battery life, sd slot and removable battery make life a lot easier. I had my one x full within a couple of days.

O2 finally seem to have gotten the thumb out about JB for the One X. I'm downloading software update 3.14.206.27 right now, which described itself as 4.1 with Sense 4+.

I was wondering does anyone know when the Jelly Bean update 4.1 will come on HTC ONE X on Three "3" ?

I have been waiting patiently, but this is ridiculous, Android 4.1 has been out since end of June 2012, and there is even 4.2 Jelly Bean out since October? Yet we are awaiting an update from June 2012 in Jan 2013, this is absurd!

God knows what's going to happen when Google releases Key Lime Pie "5.0" Android in the future, could be 1 year later on our devices or if at all :/

4.1 is available for the one x, but your carrier refuse to release it

Why did they have to change the connectivity between PC and the One X? Was simple before, just like an external hard drive, but now while it looks similar, the overall functionality of it is a pain in the ass.

I know that, was wondering how long it will take on 3 to release it, but even by HTC standards it takes a long time for the SIM-free phones to be updated compared to other companies like Samsung for example, who were more inclined to update all of their line-up with JB as soon as possible.

I was hoping someone from Three might be able to let us know if there is something scheduled for release, or even a release date at best!

With o2 it was always that they were several weeks after the HTC_001 release. Maybe ask on the talk to 3 forum?

HTC are in fact the fastest to update their firmwares to the latest android OS.

As for how long it will take for 3 to update the firmware... who knows, they add ****e to the OS and sometimes don't even allow updates that are available... you could try contacting them, but I doubt you'll get anything more than some corporate drivel.

Actually Google and their partners are.

Pedantry aside though, HTC are hardly fast with updates. This rollout in particular was farcical, even to non-network handsets.

How easy is it to go from a custom JB rom to the stock rom?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 16,659 ✭✭✭✭dahamsta

I'm no expert but it's really not all that hard, there are all in one toolkits out there these days that reduce the process to a few clicks, albeit in my experience with a bit of arsing around. The most annoying thing in my opinion is the full reset when unlocking.

Just an update on this, it arrived this morning, i made a 'Best Offer' of 39stg (47Euro) which was accepted.

Seriously tasty piece of kit, phone just nestles into into great, charges through the 5 pins, which are magnetic. Sound is awesome and clear.

Anti slip padding underneath so won't be sliding around the place.

A cool feature is Photo Frame, click on that and all pics in your gallery will rotate in a cool way.

    Unbranded on Three
Running Jelly Bean for last couple weeks

How people finding it? Definitely snappier all round. Battery performance is worse though, before if I left my phone idle connected to 3G or WiFi battery didn't drop, or very slightly. Does drop a few percent if left idle now. Find I'm having to charge early evening if I intend on using it for the night.

Been using Nova Launcher for a while. So happy with it I've decided not to root for now!

With Power Saver data connection goes after 15 mins idle? Is it off until you turn on screen again or does it check periodically? My concern being I use Viber, don't want to have to turn my screen on to check if I got a message etc.

Do you know if Power Saver does nothing else bar disables data connection and reduce screen brightness?

    Will try it out tho

Well if you look at the benchmarks I posted above you'll see it seems to throttle the phone's performance a bit.

Cheers for directing me to that! So battery usage would be down with slower performance, useful. If data stayed connected after 15 mins idle, or there was at least an option to do so I'd see it as viable

You could use juice defender to do just that.

Anyone done a comparison of the new native power saver and Juice Defender in default mode?
