    Not necessariily. I've had a lot of experience with private sector and recruitmewnt agencies recently and had bad experiences with all of them. Its an employers market at the moment, they don't give a damn.

    Would be nice to know when we start alright though!

    It didn't come in the post today maybe an email will be sent or maybe something will come the Friday before we start! :)

    Nope! I rang yesterday and was told e-mails would be going out yesterday eve or today and also in the post. Got told that last week too :) I'm going with the POs and make sure to have my phone around next Friday!! :)

    Are you starting in the first group?

    I refused first group and opted for the second group - due to location.

    Am just getting a bit anxious because its taking forever!

    Considering your in the 2cnd group you have a longer wait ahead of you :( we are due to start on the 10th and no word yet, to be honest I was expecting that though from the PO thread and the PO's who posted in this thread.

    Just ring IPS maybe you will feel better after talking to them?

    Not what we got told I thought it was 40 shuttles which worked out at 600m in 3mins 30?

    Yeah they told us exactly what was coming up on the fitness test and there was nothing about running laps of a pitch.

    It's like a seated rowing machine where you pull the handles towards you. The harder you pull the more it resists. It then measures the force you applied. It's easy. The toughest part of the test is theshuttle runs. Best advice is too practice them even if you consider yourself to be fit.

    hello does anybody know when the prison service is starting recruitment for new prison officers i was told it would be September/October 2012 but im hearing all different stories now and im getting impatient ha!

    Yes. I just want to get the first day over so I know what it's like. Sorry I didn't really word my post right!

    Unfortunaly you will have to wait for a new campaign to start, which in all likelyhood wont be for a few years.

    There is a panel there since the 2008 campaign and it is no where near exhausted. With clerks coming back onto the floor and new grades to replace them being trained over the next while, its not likely to have a class of RPOs for sometime never mind a new costly recruitment campaign.

    So the answer to your question is, you can do nothing except try something else while you wait because it will be a long time.

    so theres nothing i can do then i cant apply for anything coming up then can i not so? ill have to just give up so cause i only want this job or the guards. i did beauty therapy in college last year and hated it i always wanted to be a prison officer
