Breeze starting to get up now in Kildare, gauged by my metal chimney flue that has started howling !

I am in Wexford with a few work colleagues and we are heading to the Saltees tomorrow. Just spoke with the guy who is bringing us out and he said we are "still on". I mentioned the forecast and he laughed saying "nothing more than a bit of a breeze"!! So its the Saltees for us I guess ... though if it is rough we may not bother going.

Its very calm here in Limerick City. Slightly cooler than of late (16.5C or so) but very still and dry.

Good God don't say that! I love me a good storm :-D although having said that I'm not exactly looking forward to driving to work in those conditions tomorrow

Aquaplaning could be the problem! Seems to be getting a good bit windier down south..

Also in Kildare.... went out to water the garden and the only thing howling is the neighbours dog

Calm with a light breeze

Doesn't take a lot to make it howl. Point is it has been calm (and silent!) here all evening, but now it obviously is not !

btw 'calm' and 'light breeze' are a contradiction !

And I can hear a neighbours dog howl too .......

The reports are from 10pm, one report showing 20 knot winds so it would be interesting to see what else shows up in these reports

I've had to water my garden too... hanging baskets dry out very quickly in the warm and breezy conditions of the past week or so...

Now that you mention it, I haven't heard a crow all evening. Which is quite unusual for here. Seriously. Usually it's like they are trying to tear the roof off as this a habitual gathering point for them on account of the neighbours habit of putting out food for them to watch them fight over it.

What happened to "Storm Force" 10 and "Violent Storm Force" 11 in that Beaufort chart ?

On the East Cork Coast. Its going from calm to breezy to a howl every few seconds and a bit of rain. This will be nasty if only the beginning.

I'm worrying for my parents now on an exposed South coast ridge with major trees surrounding their house. I hope none of them fall or at least that they fall away from the house. :(

Listening to the Beeb Met office sea area and are forcasting winds in the region of 8-9 and possibly storm force 10. Peak depression around 987hP. Valid for the areas of Irish Sea, Fitzroy and Fastnet.

    Could be quite windy :)
