McHughs had the range from whitewater brewery at 5 for €10 last week, tried them and also Comeragh Challanger. Wasnt blown away by anything from whitewater, enjoyed the Challanger.

tried a second bottle of copperhead i'd in the fridge last night, was very nice. so i retract the above!

although it was still eclipsed by Brew Dog 5am saint which was savage.

Giving Itaipava a try. It's a pislner with a soft taste. I like it.

That Milk Stout from Left Hand?

So got around to drinking it and found it very sweet.
Not sure if this is different but it's called Milk Stout Nitro it's a light stout malty but I am finding it sweeter than I expected.
It's an ok beer but not a session beer.

Smuttynose IPA a lovely hopped IPA. Quite piney taste and citrus after taste.

    One for the hop lovers.

Been drinking Matalman Pale Ale for most of this week.
As it is now, I think it is, hands down, the best Irish pale ale out there - I really hope they maintain it as it is now. Previous versions of it I've found pretty ordinary.

Lagunitas IPA - Another fine citrus hop bomb. Very nice indeed.

Avery Brewing IPA - this smelled funny in a damp musty way so thought there may be something wrong with it. It was not a bad tasting beer but the smell had me put off.
I got lots of hops and a bite but couldn't get away from the smell.

In Germany at the moment so having a couple of local brews. Schlosser Altbier and a Schumacher altbier. I'm not too good at describing beers in terms of maltiness or hoppiness :o.
But its a dark beer, like Smithwicks except nice.

    like Smithwicks except nice.

pretty much perfectly describes a good Altbier.

It describes a middling altbier to me. Uerige tastes nothing like Smithwick's at all.

It would be true to say that I've only drunk what, to me, were nice but fairly unremarkable altbiers - didn't know they got much better than that!

Was in Mulligans on Poolpeg St. and had some Brewdog 5AM Saint. They also had O'Hara's Red and IPA on Tap. As well as the rest of the O'Hara's range and the Brewdog Punk IPA in bottles

Has anybody tried the Brewdog Punk IPA cans ? How did you find them in comparison to the bottles ? Am curious if it is going to be similar to how a can of coca cola is far tastier than a bottle of it.

Would love it if they got 5AM Saint and Hardcore in cans too.

Yeah on tap. According to the barman it's selling well and there were a few people drinking it when I was in.

Is that a...................beer tap in your house???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭lil_lisa

Yep, one of three. Will start a thread with details when I get time and better pictures.

Tried that Monk's Cafe sour last night, quite drinkable stuff, I can see myself buying more of it. Good rating on Beeradvocate.

    Nice one! :pac:

Had to go get some O'Hara's. Not disappointed with my decision.

Was in Brew Dog in Edinburgh a few weeks back and really liked the Tokyo and Punk beers, anybody know if either is available on tap in Dublin?

Also would anyone know of any off licenses in Dublin that stock Dogfish Head beers?have tried Molloys and a Carry Out store near me with no luck.

    Cheers!

Punk is available in the Cottage Group pubs: Against the Grain, The Brew Dock and The Black Sheep. I'm sure it's elsewhere as well.

Dogfish Head stopped exporting a few years ago. You might find the odd dusty bottle in the better offies (Redmond's, DrinkStore, McHugh's etc) but not much fresh.

...and if you're in South Dublin, also available in Hollands in Bray, and if memory serves me correctly, Bradys in Shankill (both also have Brewdog's 5am Saint, as does the Magpie Inn, in Dalkey).

Punk is also available in the Thomas House

I found the bitterness of Punk to be quite harsh. I was a little disappointed really.

I think it is more that you palette isn't accustomed to hops. Punk is a pretty decent IPA. More floral than anything else, kind of moved on from it myself.
