    Heat?

I was thinking about trying to use a fishing line or small steel wire to try file it off. Could combine that with heat I suppose.

If it's glued on Jer, get your hands on Tec7 Cleaner. It's designed to break down Tec7 which is an extremely good adhesive so it should work on anything like that.

Popped a black spoiler onto the EG, it's a bit smaller than the original though.

    Yay or Nay?

I would try some 80 - 100lb fishing line (wear gloves ofc though) coupled with some generous blasts of wd40 or tardis.

I'd go with the original one, but it's your car, you should do what you like ;)!

    Nay.

Keep the blue. I thought the black would have looked nice with the wheels but it does nothing for the car.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,801 ✭✭✭✭Gary ITR

Never even brought the blue one into the house, didn't look the way I thought it would

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,719 ✭✭✭Hal1

Keep the original blue spoiler on looks better. The other one can be fashioned into a peak for your hat etc etc. :pac:

Is it the drivers side? If not then it won't effect the NCT.

Yup...visual retest for that and 2 more efforts.

Nice work on the van. That MR2 looks like it's on a journey to pristine paintwork.

It's back on, the black one is off my black EG so it can go back onto that :pac:

Gauges now look a lot better, such an easy/cheap mod and it looks great:

What did you do to them Alan??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

The silver surrounds? Did you fit the surrounds separately, or buy a new gauge cluster altogether? Normally you'll only see those gauges on the 330ci, you'll also see the interior of the 330's headlights are a gold/silver colour too.

Started the carbon wrapping yesterday...not a flawless job but all the imprefections are only viewable by the field mice under the car :) ...twas a tricky job especially as it was first time and it was a pretty curvy piece. Was up to midnight wrapping the thing!

I decided to drill out the rivets of the brackets to make my life easier...that and some of the rivets and broken anyway.

    img0889large.jpg

I might be guilty of this bend! I tipped a garage door one way at low speed (no marks on bumper) but it left its mark...pliers straightened it out.

    img0892large.jpg

The 'ONE' screw that wouldn't budge during the removal of the lip.

Wrap in progress...thanks to my Girlfriend who helped with the process ;)

    Done...

Silver surrounds and red needles! Just modded the current cluster. Didn't have to replace it. Took about ten minutes.

Very Happy with the final result...just in the last half hour..pics aren't great as it was getting dark but I took one of it propped up on boxes before I bolted it on..I like the look anyway, think it suits the car.

Wasn't able to get a flawless wrap but the part everyone sees is perfect...just the fussy field mice running under the car might have something to say :D ....I reckon it will be pebble dashed to bits in 12 months time anyway.

Had to rivert back the old supports...Aldi riverter on the shelf the last 2 years...I knew I would find a use for it someday :D

Thanks Fiona...labour of love :D...Was going to attempt them myself but think I'm going to treat the car to a wheel refurb by the professionals :) , I think I've done enough myself at this stage...but still a bit to go on the paint.

There are two dinks on my rear passenger door. The rest of the car is pretty dam straight so i've decided to get them done.

    Paintless dent removal?

Yup. Wouldn't paint the car. i actually don't trust someone would do it as good.

There's a tiny spec of rust bubbling on the boot, that will have to addressed also.

You seem to have done well with that jag LM, I'd never have guessed there's 140k odd miles on the clock with the condition she's in. Top work :)

    135,000!

in fairness, that's not even 20k miles a year so it's hardly out of the way.

i'm happy with it. The angle at the rear, although more pleasing to the eye, is i bit tighter at the top than the Golf, so i reckon the boot is smaller.

i also cleaned the air flow meter and it's since stopped working, had to order a new one. Which is a bit annoying.

Also the gadgets and gizmo's are great though, makes it a pleasure to drive. Still get compliments day in day out about it :)
