Needs spacers for the rear imo, those wheels are well hidden at the minute :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 814 ✭✭✭JerCotter7

It's the camber :P Doesn't look as bad in person.

Although I did think about getting spacers but I will need to roll the arches first.

Determined my wiper washer motor is not dead, but something is blocked.

    More work needed

Wrapped the "old fart" spec wooden trim in carbon fibre cloth.

It has a nice soft textured feel to it like the "carbon leather" in the M3

Not quite as nice but close enough :p

Where bouts in cork you from jer? That car looks familiar!
At least the money youve put into it will make things much comfier inside.

The carbon trim contrasts very nicely with the cream conor

I'd be from Ballydehob. Be in Schull a good bit. But I'm in Cork city for college most weeks.

Lose the wood gear stick now Conzy. Never liked wood trim. Big improvement.

Right.... Here's the monster post(s), as promised!

A detailed series of this weekends events, as told by Challengemaster.

Friday, before leaving galway, the tank was brimmed to the filler cap with daysul, 53 litres went in at a cost of €85, the first full tank she's had since I bought it. It was filled again in Kilkenny, as a proper MPG test, and confirmed my suspected 48MPG :D That night after a good playing of DIRT with conzymaher, much needed sleep was had.

Up early-ish to head to Metzgermeisters house the next day, and when we arrived before 1, he had already been up since something like 8am cleaning the MPS.

When he finished waxing the hole out of it, he was so disgusted with my engine bay at the last meet that it was first priority, after of course, taking us down to the shops for some supplies before starting...

    9964182BA88C4E4B8B84AE69D9EBFCA7-0000315821-0002753861-00800L-E6986B2B8181400BB0606033FE16FBD4.jpg

    :pac:

After much deliberation, we decided that it was in fact, the engine bay.

    32FC31D737944F68990F98A1696758DA-0000315821-0002753929-00671L-7D6024C59F1740F8827B1BD47CC2DB9F.jpg

Metzgermeister used lots of his Mickeyarse foam, and himself and conzy got rubbing with their different sized tools

    32565B0071714878BC6C36662DFB6484-0000315821-0002753928-00800L-A9E663B013BA4121ACCAECB3ED7D8368.jpg

    F58FCF19E8F1495F905C1AF58CB729FB-0000315821-0002753927-00800L-2514F75EC25B4257A54ABD4332E171E3.jpg

This was followed by a blast from the Karcher

    C458FAC130974E31B2476CFDE9E89E5A-0000315821-0002753925-00745L-5AA4F9873F4A4CF194531989920C3DEE.jpg

    63CEF8D054B043CC94BC5A9703FED006-0000315821-0002753923-00800L-FAA6C183AACE4135AA75D1AC79EB54CC.jpg

And followed up with some Meguiars Engine bay sealant, it's close to spotless now.

Next on the list, was poor Metzgermeisters MPS and the mysterious clunk that developed when the OEM springs went back in.

    3DD32D6ADC084016AD87245B3CEEB12E-0000315821-0002753921-00800L-6A71A5298F3E42359D04CE2A3550FBFD.jpg

Quite clearly we all wanted to see his rusty backboxes!

But within minutes, this was spotted

    2655305728DC43838EEC83458E8F320C-0000315821-0002753863-00800L-9F63AC1B6514490BBA78781CB7348914.jpg

Mechanic had forgotten to put back the bolt holding the droplink in place.

So after popping down to the local hardware shop, we picked up some bolts hoping they'd fit.

    6E84B3DC06EC4644BE7E2DF59270B2E1-0000315821-0002753917-00800L-7FC304EC8E0E4293B49D1EA06D7EAB4D.jpg

After some more messing under the car, he now had a secure droplink. Rusty backbox repairs to the rescue.

Conzy then fitted these (amber flashing) indicator bulbs to his e46

    674D6876663449EB976B95CD42F9F9B0-0000315821-0002753859-00800L-ACB30A6376E2488A9FC9DC589DD3AF00.jpg

huge difference, and he's now road legal.

Then the front of my car and wing mirrors got covered in 3M and masking tape. The next job Metzgermeister needed to do to my car was restore the washed out looking plastic around my wing mirrors, with his new bottle of Gtechniq C4 permanent trim restorer.

We were all pretty impressed with what it did...

    346BF15C203E4B27ACDB73A95DD0A8DA-0000315821-0002753846-00800L-F79BE1155D224276A16A008F71DFD2A0.jpg

It even managed to break my mirror! (with the help of one conzy :pac:)

    5082CFB1122F41E0A173CAED0A6A9C08-0000315821-0002753852-00800L-3B452B13302549298E3FE7B082465A81.jpg

It started to get quite dark, quite quickly after the MPS was sorted, but that didn't stop us.

Next on the list was a headlight restoration / improvement with the DA.

    D8A772068B3241B9AF3F4C8A5F4970FF-0000315821-0002753865-00800L-10B089B918FD477394E100F91F414B6D.jpg

Sure enough, he's seen yet again in compromising positions with gingers... :pac:

And the headlights now are much improved, still some stone chips however, but a lot better. Also a glimpse of the shiny engine bay

    E676B307963C455B90AD892ABD3A106F-0000315821-0002753866-00800L-110BF590D8AD4DF2A2082FF4D78CBBDA.jpg

Were we finished yet? Not a chance!

After a failed attempt at trying to remove conzy's ginger

    A12C58B8F56942449A884C859A7132B3-0000315821-0002753952-00800L-2A3A71AC824B4F4F88BCCE877B21A997.jpg

A lot of scrubbing followed on my durty daysul downpipe.

    61D6D50A24A54568AC7B4074AB63FC3C-0000315821-0002753953-00800L-E14D9A5FA28740BFA0AE2E66C5C2470B.jpg

    and the result..

    E6C8D1EF826A4C9F8A2D3FC4D2F6ADF7-0000315821-0002753845-00800L-92B144389C094ADC842D6FBF2B72D7F7.jpg

Still determined, myself and conzy removed the trim from the interior of our cars for carbon wrapping...

Then we decided to call it a night and go for chips in thurles, the most confusing road system in the world :pac:

After leaving Metzgermeister to his beauty sleep, we headed back to Kilkenny.

The next day, conzy and myself started wrapping the trim we took out.

Which turned out to be not anywhere near as difficult as we thought

And finally, the results of the weekend.... after reinstalling all the trim...

Still have most of the roll of CF that was bought too, so there shall be more to come.

And before anyone says it, I know my brake wear light is on, the sensors are just disconnected at the minute :p

It also looks like the Eibachs have settled in fully now, serious drop in the rear. Can just about squeeze one finger in at an angle

And also my new bushes arrived on friday

So... there's still quite a bit to do with the car, but this was quite the productive weekend :D

Oh, and of course, this was spotted on the drive home...

I really want to carbon fibre my center console. What stuff did you use? Looks fairly good. Would probably wrap the one from the parts car though. Just in case :P

Although E36 come with shiny carbon wrap from factory(MParallel's car)

Oh my bad I just realised the E46 has had no nct since the 17th of this month and not the 28th, christ dunno how I managed to not spot that :o
Test for that was done on the 31/03/2010

E30 test was done on the 14/11/2010 and it expired today. It had been off the road for nearly a year before I bought it.

Why do they not send you on reminder letters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,721 ✭✭✭E39MSport

    Because this is Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,844 ✭✭✭Jimdagym

They used to send the letters. At least I definately recieved one before, possibly thats only the first one though.

Actually, come to think I think it now states the NCT expiration date on the tax reminder.

Speaking of which, today I decided against putting the 8er back on the road in March before I get some work done to her - not forking out 500 lids or whatever for 90 days to have it up on blocks...

Do you not fine LED's annoying? They have very little light scatter and if you get a scattered light it doesn't go far enough. Unless you mean in the dash which I find worse so no comment :D
