OK well first off the cheap booze, I hate that!

Secondly, Super Valu is wholly Irish owned, the profits go to Irish people that's all I'm saying

ya, lets all get rid of all the foreign medical corpoations in ireland from the States, etc cause guess what - the profits won't go to irish people. Well just put another few thousand on the dole -

Two actually - they were equally as ignorant and lacking in respect as each other to someone just doing their weekly shop.

Finally, an admission of ignorence. If you did that at the start we wouldn't have 30 pages on this thread. Next time try to go in with patience and pack your trolley on the bench like everyone else - as I say, no one is special.

Nothing wrong with Lidl, just the snobs who like to stir and think they know it all. Do not believe a lot of comments . Lived in Germany for a while where you learn that Germans will only buy quality not crap. Lidl could not flourish in Germany where the public are extremely discerning . Lidl is a godsend for our alcoholics. Original comment ,if you were so broke what were you doing with a trolley three quarters full ?

    the end
    Because you said so?

    I think not.

And yes, I have read the whole thread. You on the other hand have only read what you wanted to.
As it stands she has made herself out to be somewhat of a spoilt brat.
Such ignorance. How many times must it be spelled out? DC wasn't aware of the 'packing rule' and thats why she was wondering what the hissing and spitting was about. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence would see that it was a cross of the lack of knowledge about the packing thing, and a bored child trying to make a break for it that caused this situation to be too overwhelming for her to handle.

What is it you want, blood?
oh the "B" word - was wondering when that would show up.
I didn't even read the rest of your post after that. It's a thin veil to disguise what you really are doing. You're baying for blood because you've bugger all to do with yourself.

AH is AH. You expect the OP to be attacked in most cases, but your attitude is just laughable. Are you honestly saying that you've never handled a situation badly and later wished you'd handled it another way? I doubt there would be many people here that would say they haven't.

I can't see for all the fucking high-horses around here.

Very true, quality foreign beers that you will not see in your Tesco\Dunnes. And not at a ripoff price either. God bless Lidl\Aldi.

I admitted nothing. There were two ignorant customers that day and I wasn't one of them.

For some reason, you have it in your head that I was looking for some sort of special treatment. As I've said numerous times, I wasn't aware of the packing protocol involved, seeing as I've never done a weekly shop there before.

I don't get what's so hard to understand about that.

Anyway, let's leave it at that. Your constant jibes are becoming tiresome now.

It wouldn't do any harm if Aldi and Lidl were a bit faster in opening up spare tills sometimes. (and the banks too if I wanted to go on a rant about queues).
However if I had a few kunts as was described swearing at me behind my back in a queue then no matter what the store I'd turn around and smile and then reduce the speed of removing shopping from the trolley to almost zero .... I hate shopping but that might be fun.

Are you honestly trying to justify this woman's actions?

Fair enough she didn't bother to figure out the protocol. It could happen to certain types of people. Being intimitated by people tutting at her actions, sure that could happen to some people. Getting stressed while out shopping with a kid, of course that could happen.

But filling your trolley 3/4's of the way up and then storming out of a shop, creating an even bigger delay than she had already for no justifiable reason. That is the response of a very rude, self obsessed person.

Also, coming on here, looking for some kind of support for her actions hoping that everyone would share their stories of how terrible ALDI/LIDL are, well that could only happen to an idiot in fairness.

I forgot to also mention that it might take 10 minutes to find a ''lost'' wallet. With so many pockets and bags it happens sometimes :) I expect my enemies to have passed out with high blood pressure by this time :)

Are you honestly trying to justify this woman's actions?
Yes, actually I am. As the thread went on, I could understand her take from her replies. I recall my first encounter with lidl, and I remember wondering where the arse end of the till was and how anyone thought I could pack that quickly. I've said previously thats how I felt.
Fair enough she didn't bother to figure out the protocol.
Now, I'm going to stop you right there, because I'm going to say what I said before. Nobody fucking tells you what the protocol is.
It could happen to certain types of people. Being intimitated by people tutting at her actions, sure that could happen to some people. Getting stressed while out shopping with a kid, of course that could happen.
Piss-poor point there. Are you trying to say other people deal with it better or something? Pure waffle tbh.
But filling your trolley 3/4's of the way up and then storming out of a shop, creating an even bigger delay than she had already for no justifiable reason. That is the response of a very rude, self obsessed person.
Obviously nothing better to do with yourself either then.
Also, coming on here, looking for some kind of support for her actions hoping that everyone would share their stories of how terrible ALDI/LIDL are, well that could only happen to an idiot in fairness.

Yeah, shes rallying for support clearly:
are people who shop and work in LIDL usually this ignorant or am I just totally unaware of some secret LIDL code of conduct that's supposed to be adhered to?

Bangs of someone not used to the "protocol" no?

If someone had been decent enough to say to her, "its easier to pack all that on the side" then we wouldnt be having this conversation. Not a customer, nor a staff member would give her this information.

Actually, I'm going to my local Lidl tomorrow, and I'm going to suggest some kind of sign. It's in their best interest to do something like this, otherwise they'll wind up with pissed off customers, and pissed off staff.

We all get it - you're a LIDL fanboy. Good for you.

We all get it, You didn't agree with my actions. Great.

Can we leave it at that now? Because it seems like you're just looking for a rise out of me now at this stage.

    .

Of course other people deal with it better!!!! Otherwise there would be an epidemic of people going into ALDI/LIDL and storming out in a huff leaving their shopping behind.

(BTW I went into ALDI yesterday, conscious of the whole procedure due to this thread, and yes, if you bother to look you will see plenty of signage at the checkouts explaining what to do)

Leaving a trolley full of shopping for some minimum wage worker to have to put away is a much more ignorant thing to do.
LIDL is a great to shop in and if episodes like this mean that people like you steer clear then so be it!

LIDL and ALDI workers are on FAR above minimum wage. Actually get paid more than Tesco and Dunnes workers.

It has never even remotely occured to me to look for signs telling me how to pack my shopping. No other supermarket has such signage, so why would I be looking out for it in LIDL?

You see I think that this thread proves something I have been saying all along LIDL and Aldi are the source of many social evils.

Everyone is here fighting about them. If there was no LIDL or Aldi to fight about wouldn't the world be a better place.

Also there would be less cheap booze for skobes to drink and pester everyone else ... it's just a thought

Most ill informed, blinkered and biased post of the thread-Congratulations.

Guess where the scobes in my town buy their booze? It isn't Lidl or Aldi.

You also posted that Supervalu is some kind of champion among supermarket 'cos it's Irish owned.Where do they source their produce or how much do they pay suppliers? Do you work for them by any chance?
Aldi source 45% of their produce in Ireland,I don't know about Lidl so you can't claim all the money is leaving the country.

You should try shopping in Supervalu in Enniscorthy-it's like going back 20 years.Their branch that trades under the Pettits name is ok but the other one is terrible (and very popular with scobes and wino's)

Back on topic-I hate shopping but find Lidl great.Get what I need, pay less and out the door no fuss.

People with no lives, hiding behind a screen attacking another persons character. Put a mirror in front of them right now ;)
Of course other people deal with it better!!!!
I didnt mean people in general, I'm talking about anyone in her specific scenario. Where she was dealing with FOUR things at once.

    1) Packing shopping, un-informed about store protocol
    2) A bored toddler looking for attention
    3) Customers sniping and bitching behind her
    4) Cashier firing things through the scanner expecting her to keep up

Otherwise there would be an epidemic of people going into ALDI/LIDL and storming out in a huff leaving their shopping behind.
You DO love an auld over reaction, don't you ;)
(BTW I went into ALDI yesterday, conscious of the whole procedure due to this thread, and yes, if you bother to look you will see plenty of signage at the checkouts explaining what to do)

Utter bollox. I've been to both plenty of times and I've never seen it. The only signs I've ever seen in either is " please put all items on the conveyor" to account for larger items.

If you can come back to this thread with a LIDL sign that states you must pack else where, I'll offer you a full apology.

But lets face it, you're talking through your hoop.

    Same difference essentially
It has never even remotely occured to me to look for signs telling me how to pack my shopping. No other supermarket has such signage, so why would I be looking out for it in LIDL?

That's where it all went wrong...

ALDI/LIDL are so much cheaper because their business and operation models are completely different. Part of this is the checkout procedure.

I'm done here. You've accepted what you did was ignorant and hopefully you've learnt from your mistakes.

I think this thread has run its course, I'm outta here.

I shop regularly in my local Tesco, Aldi and Lidl. Tesco is just down the road so I can drop in there easily but just if I'm buying a few items so I can go through the self service quickly. Go through the regular checkouts and you'll be all day waiting behind full trollies.
ALDI and LIDL might have fewer checkouts open initially but once queues build up they'll ring a bell and other checkouts will open so you always get through quickly.
Their food is always very good quality and good value. Its not rocket science to put your groceries on the belt, let it be checked through and put it back in the trolley and pack it at the ledge behind the checkout.
