I had my reasons and I don't feel the need to justify them to anyone here.

Maybe you don't but you should apologise to the staff in that particular branch of Lidl for taking up their time with your nonsense. But you won't do that despite the fact that you're in the wrong. That's fine, doesn't bother me. It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Hell, everyone there has probably forgotten all about it. But you're still wrong. And that's just the way it is.
If you find it childish, fine. You're probably right,

    I am.
but sometimes the best thing to do in a situation you feel uncomfortable in is to walk away and that's what I did , for right or wrong.

Well it was for wrong. Then some poor staff member had to run around cleaning up after you because of your thin skin.

Well if you say that's just the way it is, then it must be true.

It's not against the law to yell boo at ducklings but it's pretty cuntish. The customer shouldn't have done it in the first place is my point. It's childish.

    Laptop - €750

    Monthly internet fee - €40

Getting to read posters railing against peoples rudeness, whilst being seemingly unaware of their own offensiveness - Priceless

You're getting seriously ripped off there, Dude!

Being offensive to someone who is rude is totally acceptable and is not a reflection of one's character.

By starting this thread you automatically need to be able to justify your behaviour.

Out of curiosity, what did you hope to achieve with this thread?

I wasn't trying to achieve anything at all, tbh, I was merely venting.

Everyone feels the need to vent sometimes - you've done it a few times over the course of this thread yourself ;)

Well it doesn't really matter whether it's fair or not, the fact of the matter is, and as you stated, trolleys do get abandoned. It's not against the law to do this, and you can't make the customer come back and put everything back in its place.

She mightn't have handled the affair very well, but I stand by the fact that lidl should have signs up to tell customers what to do. Until I saw other customers doing this I was doing the same, trying to pack at the till.

So when you see a cleaner picking up litter on the street do you chuck your empty can at their feet? It's their job to pick it up afterall.

    Ha, ha, yeah, LOL.

This one time I painted my nails with a cherry colour...

I stroked the brush over my nails, filling them with colour. Until they were fully covered. At this point I painted no more. My nails were fully covered with the cherry colour. So I painted no more,

Following this, I allowed my nails to dry.

    You just won the thread.

No, you can be fined for littering. The op wasn't littering, the goods were still saleable, why compare the two

Maliciously and on purpose generated extra work for staff, therefore generated cost to the retailer.
    As simple as that.

The only thing that annoy's me about shopping in Lidl is the parking/abandoning of vehicles right outside the entrance and exit and blocking access to trolley bay. I have often seen this even when the car park is empty.

With regard to staff, I have always found them to be good humoured, polite and courteous. I also seem to have a laugh with at least one other shopper every time I go in there.

I love the check out challenge - trying to get the shopping into the trolley faster than they can scan it while keeping 2 lively children in check (obviously I don't get out enough:o)

Well, it appears it's time to say "Thank you" to the Irish public and the moronic customers

    Maliciously, lol.

I'm sure LIDL won't go under because of this one episode. Sure, didn't the staff member actually gain financially from keeping the money still in my trolley?

You seem to know more than the OP about the whole thing.

Why did she do it and what did she hope to achieve exactly?

Do you really not feel even a little bit bad for just leaving your trolley like that?

I actually felt worse about how I was treated as a customer just doing a weekly shop, tbh.

Today...elderly lady behind me in a queue..when I was putting my shopping on a checkout.. ( a lot of it) she said :
"oh dear, are you tired, let me give you hand with it"
I said :"no thanks I am fine", but she kept "helping me"

-it was her way of saying "why the hell you are so slow with it!" -NOT YOUR BUSINESS! I was tired, I was thinking about something else and by the way, I dont think I was THAT slow!

I ALWAYS let people behing me with small shopping to go ahead, but she also had a trolley full of shopping!

That was pretty annoying! (but wont put me of shopping there - charity collectors are worse!)

Technically the definition of littering is "Make (a place) untidy with rubbish or a large number of objects left lying about: "newspapers littered the floor".

By that definition it was littering. That is also the definition by which the Irish litter wardens work off.

However that was not the point. The point of the issue was your attitude that it is just a part of the job. It is also part of a cleaner's job to pick up litter but that doesn't give you the freedom to dump your stuff wherever you deem appropriate.

Really? I have to be honest, it doesnt sound from your OP that you were treated that badly by the staff. And I dont think you can blame staff for the customers' behaviour?

You were not treated badly at all. You went in there, pissed off a load of customers, overreacted to them and then stormed out leaving a trolley full of groceries behind.

I'm sure by this stage you realize what you did was totally uncalled for with only one other person in this entire 30 page plus thread agreeing with you.

Right, as you seem to actually have been there and know more about what happened than I did, I'll bow to your superior knowledge of the incident and let you have the last word because all you're interested in is repeating the same sentiments over and over again and I can't be bothered to keep replying to you any more.

Lastly, can I say whether anyone agrees with me or not matters not. I was subjected to behaviour I have never had to deal with in any other supermarket - ever. So I left and I'm glad I did.

How do I love this bull****...

I am sure OP accidentally left a trolley full of goods at the checkout.
She did not mean that, it just happened, right?
