Could Liverpool bring this Case to The Court of Arbitration for Sport ?

If they feel so strongly could they go over the heads of the FA ?

A racism charge where neither the complainant nor the adjudicating body believe the person punished is a racist.

    Strange alright.
It's not a bit strange,if it was let go and he did call him something racist just to wind him up it would give everyone licence to do it.

Very disappointed with today's verdict. This is the time when @luis16suarez needs our full support. Let's not let him walk alone. KD

Yes I do, but I think Suarez perceived or alleged character are what has blew this case out of all proportion.

In fairness, that is just wild speculation.

Wait until the FA releases their detailed report, read it and then make a judgement.

I was working on the assumption that LFC will appeal.

If they do appeal I say the FA will want it out of the way ASAP

But pretty true nonetheless. My opinion of the Liverpool fanbase has gone down dramatically over the course of this debacle.

It would be a bit silly calling Suarez racist when even Evra doesn't think he his.

    Pretty logical to me.

I know silliness is pretty common though, especially with football fans.

    Jesus Christ. Delusional lads.

Bit like saying the victim of a violent act on a pitch saying the aggressor isn't a violent person by nature is somehow "strange".

I don't like Patrice Evra...and it's not because I'm a racist! He is the most horrible and annoying footballer...a perfect replacement for that lad who works for sky and used to play right back!

You do understand that you can be guilty of a racial slur but not be an actual racist or be a member of the KKK?

Saying a black man is black is not a racial slur?

This case is all about context, which is why I'm so eager to read the full findings.

Probably good to have all the discussion of this in one thread tbh.

If Evra's claim that Suarez abused him at least 10 times & it can be seen on camera is proven to be false, he should have the book thrown at him. If its proven to be true, same for Suarez.

I agree with Alan, the book should be thrown at Suarez.

Until the findings of the panel are published there's very little that can be disputed. From the FA statement, its unclear whether Suarez has admitted anything. The papers claim he has admitted using the word negrito, while the statement from LFC seems to imply that the whole case has been based purely on the word of Patrice Evra, and that Suarez has admitted nothing

So there is two possible scenario's here, either Suarez has been convicted solely on the word of Evra, in which case its only Evra's word against Suarez's, or Suarez has admitted using the above phrase and so only the context and hence severity of the ban can be disputed. Until this is clarified, any argument regarding either the ban imposed or guilt of Luis Suarez are based only on hearsay and unconfirmed reports

Calling Suarez a racist is defamation. To do so Suarez could sue them for a shed load considering what he must be worth in sponsorships and such in Uruguay.

That would be a silly thing for the FA to do.

Suarez could easily argue heat of the moment or some other crude legal terminology. Fortunately common sense applies to a greater extent within the rules of soccer.

They are saying he is a racist through this ruling without directly calling him a racist. It's actually pretty simple if you take those red tints off.

You judge a whole fanbase on something some posters say?

Every club has idiot fans. The SF is evidence of this :)

Oh sorry, my bad, just a misinterpretation based on the fact that you were moderating the thread.

Usually when I see a man outside a club telling people they aren't allowed in, I think they are bouncers, but occasionally they may turn out to just be powerdriven madzers. Ah well, you live and learn.

Fair comment, but wild speculation is generally the staple diet of internet forums. What somebody (or an organisation) puts in a report and what they privately think can be two totally different kettles of fish.

People talking about how Suarez will be driven out by all this are mad. The fact the club have shown such vehement support will only strenghten the bond between the club and him. He comes across as the sort of guy who takes things very much to heart and will not forget how the club handled this circus on his behalf.

True, I never fully take FA reports at face value but I'll wait until I read it before passing comment on it.

I make a partial judgement on a fanbase based on the opinions of most of the supporters whose opinions I have available to me. Upon seeing some more reasonable Liverpool supporters I will gladly change my mind and report back to you on this.

    8 game ban?

Not enough for me but their ya go. The FA made an example of him and rightly so, such abuse should never be tolerated. If John Henry had any character or decency he would sack that degenerate.

"The FA made an example of him". Tbh the whole idea of making an example out of someone is ridiculous in itself. Equal and fair bans should be given out to each individual who commits an offence, not one super penalty for one person to try make everyone else then tow the line. Ridiculous.

I think Suarez defense was decent, And FA could not prove other wise , yet still charged him,
Like that cop who shot the black guy 15 times, They were alone at time,
'Worst case of suicide he had ever seen'' was his defense
    He got cleared '',
