Wouldn't be so sure of that mate. He has the tag of "racist" now. He will get an awful heckling of opposition fans etc...How will his team mates feel?

I wouldn't be surprised if this incident unsettled him and he decides to jump ship to Spain or Italy where things like this aren't such an issue.

Who knows how his head will be when he gets back, it could break him.

So somebody remind me what Suarez actually said?... Or did he not say anything at all

He admitted to using the inflammatory phrase once (not 10 times as Evra previously claimed) but we don't know what it is. As we understand it, it's a term of endearment, hence Suarez's admission to using it.

There's a great post here about how it's used in South America.

Again, we don't know the evidence for sure. Hopefully it's forthcoming and things will be clearer. The sentence would suggest there's more evidence against him. Liverpool's statement suggests there's not.

Referring to someone's skin colour in the heat of the moment is not a term of endearment in the UK, Ireland and most other advanced nations. Please credit us with enough intelligence to know that it wasn't used as a term of endearment.

I'd be absolutely astonished if the FA backed down in anyway, shape of form from this.

They didn't spend weeks investigating and have an extended verdict process for nothing. They will have explored any possible appeal that Liverpool could make and have made sure that everything is water tight.

They won't be seen to be reducing the ban of a racism charge. Not a chance. If Liverpool are to be successful in eradicating or reducing the ban, they'll almost certainly have to go through another legal avenue IMO.

A racism charge where neither the complainant nor the adjudicating body believe the person punished is a racist.

    What a big racist.

Might as well give Luis the sandwich board from Die Hard 3 with this verdict, as that's how he's going to be seen by all other supporters.

Absolutely. Utd might even win from this if Suarez is eligible for the City game and banned by the time the Spurs game comes around. A Suarez winning goal against City would be great. Everyone's a winner. Not sure about all Liverpool fans loving him even though.

Ah you got 2 mate, fair play to you. Next time tell them that you're actually thinking of becoming a Liverpool fan after the massive injustice that has been sent their way. You could get at least 20.

PM him about it if you have an issue.

Sure it probably suits Suarez, he gets his soon to be annual Winter Break - last year it was the biting thing, now this.

Not interested in thanks. Just think its a ridiculous verdict given that Evra says that he believes that Suarez is not a racist. And a happy Christmas to yourself too CSF.

You do understand that you can be guilty of a racial slur but not be an actual racist or be a member of the KKK?

Very disappointed with today's verdict. This is the time when @luis16suarez needs our full support. Let's not let him walk alone. KD

Some people on here actually don't seem to grip that simple fact.

Ban starts in 14 days. So that rules him out of the City game as that is in 14 days, he will be back for the *United game if Liverpool win their cup game.

*This will only happen if they do no ban him for giving the finger to Fulham fans too.

I don't think people rely on Evra to help them interpret the facts once they become fully clear. People will make their own judgement once the full facts have been made clear. Evra is not the guiding light on what determines a racist.

I understand that, but if the ban were to be reduced it would still come across as undermining the campaign against racism to some.

I'd be shocked if an appeal with the FA was successful tbh.

And you can still be guilty of a racial slur without being an actual racist.

I'd say every point above is in your wish list .

Such a great strong character Suarez is I can only see him returning stronger and more determined .

I'm expecting this to be turned from a major negative into a massive positive and him having a long successful career at Liverpool .

Some horse**** coming out from the usual media clowns. "The FA have sent a strong signal out that racist comments won't be tolerated", yet they take no action against Evra for abusing Suarez in Spanish. :pac:

    Talk about double standards.

Yea, definitely no racism issues in Spain, just ask Eto'o or Aragones.

Very similar to the Aragones issue really, don't think either are racist but casual racist comments can't be tolerated.

I see this going to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Yes I do, but I think Suarez perceived or alleged character are what has blew this case out of all proportion.

    From a United forum:
Liverpool supporters are never happier than when they've got a cause to rally behind and play the victim.

They're probably all out there now plotting how to boycott Renault or something equally as pathetic.

They'll have a banner at the next home game with Martin Luther King, Bob Marley and Malcolm X on it with Suarez on the end saying something like "let it be" or "Racism has many fathers, but mine's a negrito so chill out yeah?".

    :D
